My husband & frequently use HomeAway for our travels, and we have never been disappointed in the quality of our accommodations, but this place blew away our expectations and was so remarkable that we have to make special comment. The apartment itself is lovely, with exposed stone walls, chandeliers, marble sinks, an exquisite kitchen area, and a very comfortable bed. The location is gorgeous, about a 20 minute walk straight down the aqueduct into Lucca. But what is so remarkable is the kindness of the host family, Danilo & Grazia. They were easy to contact & communicate with while planning our arrival, and we were greeted with homemade lemon sorbet. We purposely did not rent a car, as we planned to walk or take the train, but Danilo insisted on picking us up from the train station and even offered to drive us to dinner one night. It was raining on our departure (not a problem for us), but again Danilo offered to take us back to the train station. The couple made us a traditional Italian breakfast one morning and gifted us with a bottle of local olive oil. We cannot say enough about our wonderful experience, and we absolutely plan to stay here again should we be fortunate enough to return to Italy.
