Convenient location for doing a lot in the area, Lucca is lovely, Cinque Terre a long day but doable, southern parts of Tuscany also. Giacomo is wonderful - thoroughly available and responsible and flexible, generous! The house is in the process of updating and has some really good new improvements (induction stove, dishwasher, HVAC splits…) but basic comforts like some new livingroom furniture and area rugs, art on the walls, a few more glasses and mugs… and a second shower (the “wet room” does not work!) would warm up a very clean and nice place into a really great one! Main problem is that the description and photos suggest a farm house out in the middle of olive groves with a luxurious in-ground pool and a fabulous view. In fact, the view is only from the 3rd floor window, the house is a duplex, and although the immediate neighborhood is rural, this is the more commercial, industrial part of Tuscany - the south is what you’re picturing - and the pool (while definitely cool, clean and welcome!) was an above-ground monster! Price was very good, reflecting its less-appointed state and less picture-perfect region. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and were comfortable, once we got over it being not what we’d expected, and we know Giacomo is always investing to improve his property! And it is very large, 6-8 people would fit very comfortably!
