The house was clean and overall nice, and we appreciated the general condition of the space. However, a few things didn’t match what was advertised. The home was supposed to be stocked with basic supplies, but we couldn’t find any dishwasher pods anywhere in the house. We also noticed a leak on the floor that appeared to be coming from the AC vent. In addition, there were some dirty dishes and utensils left in one of the drawers, which was a bit disappointing.While the property itself was comfortable, these issues made the stay less convenient than expected. With a little more attention to stocking supplies and checking for maintenance or cleaning issues, this could easily be a great place to stay.

The house was perfect, lots of space, great kitchen, clean and everything we needed. Wish the couch was a little bigger so bigger groups could all sit comfortably when relaxing. Kitchen had all utensils and pans you needed to cook with. Was a great stay!

Very little planning with this quick getaway but it turned out perfect. The home was absolutely beautiful and clean with great views. Sunrises and sunsets were gorgeous. Kitchen was fully stocked with every utensils/dishes needed for any meal. Linens were abundant and beds were comfortable. The staff was amazing and quick to respond to any questions we had regarding the property. We thought we picked a spot a little to far from any entertainment but found a small museum down the road that gave us a very informative tour about the prehistoric life in the area. There were several great hidden gems for food and a few spots had great live bands. While I have to say we didn't make it down to the lake so I can't give any review on that. We did spend a lot of time on the balconies and in the hot tub. Which were both clean and boy did that hot tub work. It was a great way to spend the cool evenings after a long week. All in all it was a wonderful stay and I'd highly recommend the Canary lake house for a great getaway. It was only me and my wife but I can't imagine this house not being perfect for a large family.

My family absolutely loved our stay at this property! The JHS artwork throughout the home was stunning, and the property itself was even better than we imagined. Between the relaxing hot tub, the gorgeous views, the peaceful sounds of nature, the crystal-clear water, and the breathtaking night sky, we truly didn’t want to leave.Some of our favorite moments were spent watching the sunset down by the lake, making s’mores around the stone fire-pit and playing cards, lounging around on the patios.. it was nothing short of magical. We’re so grateful you opened your home to us and gave us the chance to make such cherished memories together.From our family to yours, thank you! Until next time!

Overall, the house is very nice with modern decor and close to the lake. It was a nice gathering space for a girl's trip as the kitchen and living area were open and there were a few outdoor spaces to gather and visit. The evening cooled down, so the hot tub was nice. On the downside, there were cans of paint and tools in the closet of one of the bedrooms leaving little space for our luggage and things, and one of the kitchen drawers stayed constantly open and is need of repair. While the house is close to the lake, I don't see how it is usable. We couldn't use it because we went right after the July 4th floods so hopefully it is more accessible when there isn't flooding. The property mgmt was not that great which was surprising considering we're in TX. I requested a late check-out two days prior to our arrival and was told they would get back to me the next day which they never did. I contacted them again the day before we were scheduled to check out and was told no one was checking in after us but I would still need to call or text them the next morning (the day we were checking out) to find out. If they allowed it, we would only be allowed to extend one hour to 11 am and would need to call them at 9 am that day to find out. So basically, wait until an hour before we have to check out to find out if we could extend it by one additional hour. That made absolutely no sense for us and defeated the whole point of asking for a later check-out so we packed up and left early.

Beautiful Location, But Cleanliness Needs Improvement

Unfortunately, our stay didn’t meet expectations. While the location is great and the house has potential, the cleanliness upon arrival was a major concern. The floors were dirty, there was visible dust throughout, and the kitchen items—especially pots and pans—had been put away without being properly cleaned.There were also a few basic essentials missing, like trash bags and enough coffee supplies, which made things a bit inconvenient for a group of our size.We were really looking forward to this mini getaway, but the condition of the home made it hard to fully enjoy. I hope the host can address these issues for future guests, as this could be a great rental with better upkeep.

Absolutely Amazing Stay!

My family stayed at the Canary Lakehouse for a few days and it was spectacular! The staff was super friendly and accommodating, the check in process was easy and the house was just as pictured. They had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. Clean, close to the lake and easy to find. We could not have asked for a better stay.

Eh, it could’ve been worse I guess.

I’m not sure whether it was because it was the off season (Feb) or what, but the house definitely could have been cleaner. There were cobwebs and spiders everywhere, the baseboards were dirty, our feet were black from walking on the floors the first hour there, the ceiling fans were dusty, it sounds like there’s a leak in the ceiling when the sink on the 3rd floor is running, the towels were left in the dryer when we arrived instead of being put away, the refrigerator had food an handprints all over the front of it, almost every single dish, utensil, pan or cup we pulled out of the cabinets had some sort of food caked on them so we had to wash them by hand before using them. (I have pics but nowhere to upload them). Maybe I am a bit too picky, but these are things that should be cleaned before a guest arrives. Especially when paying the equivalent of a mortgage payment for just two nights. There was no cleaner for the kitchen so we had to go buy our own. I’m pretty sure when we left, the place was cleaner than it was when we arrived. Other than the lack of cleanliness, the house was great for the weekend. It’s a nice house, big enough to accommodate a large family and in a great location and the property management company was easy to work with so that’s why I was generous with the star rating. It’s not the owner’s fault that the cleaning crew didn’t do the job they were hired to do.

The property is as described— our family enjoyed the fire pit area and time in the hot tub. We saw deer every day and night. Though water is not in this part of the lake at this time— the walk down the back side of the property is still nice. We rented a boat from Cranes Mill marina, (short drive), and had a great time on the lake. We had 2 pups with us and they had a blast on the property— great time at the Canary Lakehouse!

The house itself was nice, roomy and comfortable. Needs cleaning attention. The porches were very dirty, not cleaned prior to our arrival. Furniture, doors were dirty, and had another person's dirty black shirt and broken beer bottle. Fire extinguisher sign on porch, but no fire extinguisher. Floors inside weren't swept or mopped prior to our stay...dead bugs. Inside walls need attention. Biggest disappointment was that the lake has been DRIED UP for years! Online description and picture is false advertisement. Property manager was very considerate and helpful via text. With some attention, this house would be a very nice place to stay.

Weekend getaway

Overall, the rental was close to the description. The inside was just as described and had everything you needed. We enjoyed the privacy and short walk to the lake. Lake levels are very low. The outside just needs some tlc.

Birthday Weekend

Unfortunately the rental was a disappointment, the first impression of the house when we first drove in made me want to turn around and leave. The property was dirty, the grass was not cut the patios were dirty as well as the furnishings. Sitting outside was not an option. The kitchen was nice but new pots and pans are a must there were 3 pans that the breakfast foods got stuck too. The other 2 cast iron pans were rusted needed washing before they could be used. The living room couch pillows and throw rug were completely stained really dirty, we really didn’t want to sit on them. We went out for dinner the bbq was full of grease and dirty wasn’t useable at all. We rented the house for my husband and son’s birthdays but the management needs to do a better job with this property. We spent most of our time at the lake or in Gruene only came back to sleep, although we weren’t really sure if the linen had been washed after everything else we saw. We found a pair of women’s shorts on the tv stand downstairs, someone wasn’t paying attention. We have stayed in many rentals over the years but nothing like this. I took pictures of everything in case they are needed. For future renters stay away from this property, it’s not worth the money. Not pet friendly at all the yard connected to the property had trash and clothes all over a trampoline with really tall grass and at night a bunch of kids would go down a private road with music blaring and yelling sitting on the back of the truck.

Weekend Getaway

The home was very nice and new! Lots of stairs, so be prepared to climb. Very peaceful and quiet area. Short hike down to the lake, but the lake levels are extremely low. My son went antique bottle hunting. Found bottles from the 60's. Thats how low the lake is. Had some issues with the wifi, but that didnt bother us. Was nice to be disconnected.
