I want to write an honest review and we had a fantastic time but the villa description needs tweaking and the villa needs a little maintenance on it.
It is described as luxury, it is NOT luxury, it is a lovely villa set in a very typical Mexican residential area. There are many dogs wandering the complex and howl at 07.00 am although you do get used to the early alarm clock! The upstairs sky terrace has lights missing so we could not enjoy it after dark and the door does not lock and being as there is no safe within the villa this could be a problem, saying that the terrace is four floors up! There is no dishwasher but items from previous guests are left so it has cleaning items which is a big help as the local shops are very sparse. Walmart is a short taxi drive away and is roughly 40 pesos but to get a taxi back is 80 pesos as the drivers have to pay a small fee to be waiting within the shopping centre grounds, again this is no problem. The manual inside the villa or Scott states that the nearest beach is 400 metres or a 12 minute walk, this is in fact, a very local beach and the sea cannot be swam in due to local boats being around and it is about a 30 'min walk and the walk is on a main road. The manual states that you can use the hotel beaches by the hotel zone and use the pool etc. On arrival to the hotel advertised, We were told that this was not possible but obviously they could not stop us using the beach but we were not allowed to use the hotel pools and bar which actually makes sense really. If you choose this villa, which is lovely, please hire a car as it will make life a lot easier for everyone. We were a party of 11 so taxis and Uber's were a pain to organise. The taxi AP advertised in the manual was not possible to use as for the ten days we were there, there was no taxis in the vicinity.
If you want a holiday to mix with locals this is for you. Please do not be put off but we felt that the info had been a tad exaggerated . The communal pool had two cameras that are registered to the managers mobile so he can see you at all times and the poolside table and chairs are not to be used by guests of the villa.
The villa itself is well equipped and the beds were lovely and comfortable. The washing machine and drier was a fantastic bonus and the villa had about 40 towels to use. I would recommend this villa to young people .Isla Mujeres is a short boat ride away, we went on our own with a local fisherman and had a fantastic day with him
