We love staying at Serenity Falls. We’re native plant lovers, and the botanical diversity around the cabin is amazing. And the waterfall, caves, and rock formations—it’s really like having your own tiny little park to explore!
The cabin itself is comfy and old school—mismatched dishes, sturdy furniture, nothing fussy or silly. Very comfortable bed. Nice bathroom. Lovely firepit. The hot tub is really soothing after a day of climbing around looking at plants. And it’s a dog paradise, as long as your dog is pretty agile and has good recall.
Pack light, as the stairs to the cabin are numerous and steep in some places. There’s a strategically placed resting bench if you need it, and it’s a good warm up for the walk/climb to the waterfall. We’re not young (this trip was in celebration of my husband’s 60th birthday) and we’d rate the stairs and the waterfall trail as moderately challenging, but not scary. If you’re an experienced hiker, you won’t bat an eye. If you’re a couch potato, then you might need that bench halfway up, lol.
If you decide to leave the canyon (and you might not!), you’re literally minutes away from several restaurants, plus a few souvenir/convenience stores and kayak rental sites. And Natural Bridge State Park is almost next door.
Really, Serenity Falls is the perfect blend of privacy, convenience, nature, comfort, and classic cabin living. We’ll be back for a third stay!
