  • Exceptionally well furnished for a relaxing holiday in a picturesque location with footpaths from the doorstep.. This is a superb location for a family holiday, hidden away in Invertrossachs in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Your journey to the cottages takes you through some of the most spectacular scenery along the side of Loch Venachar. Originally built at the beginning of the 1900s as part of Invertrossachs Estate for the game keeper, this area has long been known for its outstanding natural beauty. Queen Victoria visited the estate in 1869 and planted a tree to commemorate the visit. A magical place for nature lovers and bird watchers, you are surrounded by ancient woodland with deer, pine martens, otters who fish in the stream, flora and fauna. A perfect location to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of this spectacular area.

    If you prefer to go out into the great outdoors then you are spoilt for choice. From your doorstep there is an abundance of footpaths, cycle tracks, sailing and fishing. There are some excellent mountain walks locally with Ben Ledi, Ben Venue, Ben Lomond, all within a short drive. There is a local golf course in Callander and several excellent courses within an hour’s drive, including Gleneagles. Nearby Callander, a Victorian tourist town and famed for being the location for the original TV series of Dr Finlay’s casebook, is a good place to enjoy a meal or drink, stock up with supplies and some general retail therapy.

    Grace’s Cottage (UKC2133) is an exceptionally well furnished, detached property that has been well equipped for a superbly relaxing holiday. All on one level the large open plan living area boasts a well-equipped kitchen with a range, perfect for preparing a special meal and a spacious dining area leading to the cosy living area with a wood burner. French doors lead out onto a patio and into the garden which has a stream where you can fish for trout, and if you’re lucky, see the otters. Our neighboring property, Bonnie’s Bothy (UKC2132), is a small detached cottage, perfect for a couple, in a quiet location with a private enclosed decked area with table and chairs, perfect for the summer months. The open plan living area has a cosy wood burner so you can curl up and relax after a long walk in the woods. The loch side can also be used for fishing. Use of the owners tennis court and multi-purpose basketball court, 1 mile away, can be arranged directly with the owner. Great care and attention to detail throughout the properties ensures your enjoyment with a generous welcome pack to get you started. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

Perfect peace and quiet

We stayed at the cottage with our adult children to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The cottage was perfect. Three of the four bedrooms had en-suites which were modern and immaculately clean. The hosts were so thoughtful, leaving flowers and a card as well as a lovely welcome basket. The heating was on for our arrival and was toasty warm. The garden was lovely with lots of seating and a burn running through the bottom of it. I have no negative comments to make. We loved it and would be keen to return.

We had a fabulous week at Grace's Cottage from the 18th of July, we being 2 adults 2 teenagers and our pet Spaniel. The cottage is spacious, scrupulously clean (Covid protocols meticulously observed) and very well equipped. The cottage actually has fibre to the hub ( Get David to tell you the story) so it has much better connectivity than I expected. Having 3 en-suite and one family bathroom was a great luxury. The "midge box" was a very welcome provision, especially the nets, useful for late evening dog walking. There's a wood burner (we didnt need to light it) and a range which was bliss for the amatuer chef (me!). The garden is beauitifully maintained and the stream that meanders through it is delightful. We played tennis and basketball on David's court - approx a mile away which kept the troops amused. There are terrific long, medium and short walks and Loch Venacher 200 yds away, well worth kayaking on. David and Jean were the perfect hosts, on hand to help if required and provided a wealth of local knowledge in terms of amenities etc. We've done this type of holiday a lot, and I simply can't find fault with Grace's Cottage. Easily up there with the best we have stayed at. The acid test - would we go back? In a heartbeat. I haven't covered the stuff to do locally, as that's dependant on personal interests, but as a generalisation there was plenty within a few miles in the car to keep my group happy.
