Dicht am Meer

Wir hatten eine schöne Woche in der Villa do Mar II. Das Haus liegt wirklich sehr schön. Umweltgeräusche, Autos, Bauarbeiten, andere Menschen etc. hört man hier nicht. Nur Meeresrauschen, aber das ordentlich laut :o) Uns hat auch der Zugang zum Meer gefallen, baden konnten wir leider nicht , Meer war zu lebhaft. Aber dort zu sitzen und den Wellen zuschauen ist prima. Der Pool mit der Gartenanlage ist sehr schön. Die Begrüßung mit großem Obstteller war auch sehr nett. Was auch gut war, dass es eine Filterkaffeemaschine und eine Kapselmaschine (Delta Kapseln, gibt es im Supermarkt) gab. Da konnte man auch mal nur schnell eine Tasse Kaffee oder Espresso machen. Aber die Zufahrt zum Haus, die hat es in sich. Nur sehr sichere, umsichtige Fahrer sollte diese fahren. Es ist eine einspurige, sehr enge Straße, heißt, wenn jemand entgegen kommt, muß eine/r rückwärts zurück. Geht alles, aber man sollte darauf eingestellt sein.

So good we booked it again for next year

We booked this last minute because of COVID and Madeira was one of a few places that we could go without quarantining on arrival back in the UK. The photos on the HomeAway and Our Madeira websites looked fantastic. As usual, the photos don't tell the whole storey but unusually this time it was the photos that didn't match the actuality. The place is stunning- there is no other way of putting it. We have been renting houses and villas for about 10 years and this was, without doubt, the nicest place we have stayed in. There are no houses overlooking it and you don't see any other houses from the villa or the grounds. The villa itself is set up about 100 feet on a cliff above a pebbly beach and the only sound is the sound of the waves breaking- no traffic and noisy neighbours. The place has been very well thought out with lots of really nice touches and was very comfortable for three. Four would be fine but six might be a touch tight. In the main part of the house, two sides are glass patio windows opening onto the sea view and the garden /pool area. The place was spotless and the beds comfortable. The whole house is airconditioned if needed. Somebody came around every day or two to clean the pool and because we stayed more than a week, the house was cleaned during our stay. The only potential issue is the very steep and narrow road down to the house. This was certainly "exciting" the first couple of times we drove it but we were certainly much happier (if not exactly blase) after a few days. The road is well lit in the evening so returning after dark was not a problem. We had a BMW 3 series and I would not want anything larger than this. Having an automatic made quite a difference and I would recommend getting that rather than a manual. We've been back three days and I just booked it again for next year - hence solving the quandary of wanting to leave a good review but not wanting to tell everybody about it :). The booking was very straightforward. I intend to leave this review on TripAdvisor, HomeAway and Google so if you see it in multiple places you will know it was me doing it.

Traumhaftes Haus in traumhafter Lage! Wir waren nun zum zweiten Mal in der Villa und würden immer wieder kommen. Toll gepflegte Grundstück mit vielen Pflanzen, alles sauber, gemütlich eingerichtet und der Ausblick ist unbeschreiblich!

Ein wunderschönes Ferienhaus in einer traumhaften Lage

Die Lage des Hauses direkt am Meer ist fantastisch. Dank der schönen Einrichtung, der hochwertigen Ausstattung und der fröhlichen und lichtdurchfluteten Architektur fühlt man sich sofort wohl. Es passt einfach alles. Auch der Poolbereich und der kleine, aber sehr schöne und gepflegte tropische Garten ist ideal um sich nach einer Wanderung zu entspannen. Hervorzuheben ist auch die sonnige und geschützte Lage des Hauses. Während es in den Bergen und an anderen Orten der Insel wolkig war oder geregnet hat, konnten wir die Sonne am Pool genießen. Wir können dieses Haus uneingeschränkt empfehlen und würden es auf jeden Fall wieder mieten

Emplacement parfait vue magnifique sur l’océan

Nous avons passé une semaine dans la villa do mar 2 . La vue est époustouflante sur l’océan. L’accueil de Bruno a été chaleureux. La maison était très propre ainsi que la piscine. À part l’accès à la villa qui est très escarpé comme tout Madère nous avons passé un très bon séjour.

Beautiful quiet location, well equipped.

This is a lovely villa with a great view over the sea. Very well equipped and a lovely garden. We were invited out for a meal at the owners restaurant the second night, which was very good. There is a lovely beach house but you need to plan for a day down there as there are around 150 steps down to it. The beach is stony so plastic shoes are a good idea.The owners agent was as helpful as we could have hoped for. Especially for someone who usually drives on the left, the road is quite difficult, steep with sharp bends.

Traumvilla in spektakulärer Lage

Wir haben im Juni eine wunderschöne Woche in der Villa do Mar II verbracht. Es war alles perfekt: die wundervolle Aussicht aufs Meer, das beruhigende Rauschen der Wellen, die Ausstattung der Villa. Das Schlafzimmer hat ein Bullauge aufs Meer, sodass man sich wie auf einem Schiff vorkommt, zusätzlich noch ein Dachfenster zum Sternegucken! Die Betten sind sehr bequem. Das Wohnzimmer mit Küche und Essplatz ist modern eingerichtet, besonders haben uns die fröhlichen Farben gefallen. Der Außenbereich ist mit schönen Möbeln ausgestattet, der Pool ist ein Traum und die Bepflanzung sehr tropisch. Senhor Acacio hat uns sehr freundlich und gut betreut. Es lief alles völlig problemlos ab. Vielen Dank an den Besitzer für die Einladung in sein Restaurant Vila do Peixe. Wir haben das gute Essen in nettem Ambiente sehr genossen. Wir freuen uns schon auf das nächste Mal!

Superbes vacances

Nous tenons à remercier l'agence locale Our Madeira pour les conseils ainsi que le propriétaire et M. Acacio sur place qui nous ont réservé un acceuil formidable pour ces vacances superbes. La maison Villa do Mar II est en tout point identique au descriptif, avec en prime des conseils et des prix sur les visites. Un accompagnement en or tout en restant discrets. Chapeau ! Attention tout de même à l'accés final jusqu'à la maison qui est un peu périlleux en voitures ! Mais il est toujours possible de laisser sa voiture en haut et puis, c'est un peu le cas de toute l'île !! Le coin de Calheta est le plus ensoleillé de l'île et les couchers de soleil garantis chaque soir. Les commerces sont à 10min en voiture et les plus éloignés des sites de visite à moins d'une heure. Pour la saison, cette fin d'avril était douce mais c'est le tout début de la floraison. Privilégier peut-être juin pour profiter de toutes les couleurs. Prévoir de bonnes chaussures, ne pas avoir le vertige pour les randonnées (ne pas les prendre à la légère même sans dénivelé !), ne pas oublier le coupe vent pour les hauteurs souvent chargées. C'est une île magnifique où il y a toujours quelque chose à voir et la Villa Do Mar II est idéale pour cela avec sa piscine pour le soir !! A refaire.

Vila do mar is a extremly lovely place!

We have already been several times to Madeira, this time we could afford a little "more" for the place to sleep, eat and "live" - so Vila do mar was the very right choice. It is situated that spectacular, you nearly can't imagine even if you look at the pictures. However the house is renovated and decorated with so much care and the special look for lovely details - each corner has something special. The same about the garden and the surrounding! Palms and plants are now grown up - and the roses were flowering even in December. Special thanks to the owner for having created such a beautiful place!

What a lovely surprise!

What a fantastic stunning villa! Madeira was a lovely surprise too. We never expected it to be so diverse and pretty. Loved exploring the island - down by the sea and way, way up in the mountains above the clouds. We loved the terraced terrain, so interesting and stunning flowers all around. The villa has the most amazing views of the sea (it's almost ON the sea) and to hear the crashing waves constantly is a unique bonus. The sunsets were the best we've ever seen. The villa itself is so pretty and has everything you'd need for a relaxing holiday - apart from the road down which is terrifying and daunting (and we are not easily scared - one star has been taken off for it!). I'd have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Our Madeira who were always helpful and quick with their responses. Mr Rodriquez was always on the end of the phone even when we had queries non-villa related (our telescope tripod broke so he advised us where to go to get a replacement). Our complimentary dinner at Vila do Peixe in Camara de Lobos was really delicious - and very kind of the owner. We were very lucky to have had fantastic weather for our two week holiday and found Madeira interesting in every way and recommend that everyone should visit at least once in a lifetime!

Perfekter Urlaub

Die Villa überzeugt sowohl von der Architektur, Lage als auch Einrichtung und entspricht den gezeigten Bildern. Wir haben die 14 Tage sehr genossen. Der Blick direkt auf den Atlantik ist unbeschreiblich. Einzig die letzten 200m Anfahrt sind etwas abenteuerlich, da eine steile Stichstraße zum Haus führt. Aber daran gewöhnt man sich recht schnell. Supermärkte finden Sie 5 bzw. 15 Minuten vom Haus entfernt. Gleichwohl es sehr viele gute Restaurants auf Madeira gibt. Wir haben die Villa genutzt um ganz Madeira zu erkunden und würden jederzeit die Villa wieder mieten.

wir hatten einen wunderschönen Urlaub

Herrlich gelegene Ferienvilla mit 3 Schlafzimmern inkl. Bad-en-Suite. Gut ausgestattete Küche und schön möblierten Zimmern. Liegen und Sonnenschirme am Pool vorhanden. Grundstück ist komplett umzäunt und der Mietwagen kann auf dem Grundstück abgestellt werden. Zur Villa gehört noch ein Strandhaus, dass über einen separaten Treppenzugang mitgenutzt werden kann. Strand wie auf Madeira üblich ist ein "Steinstrand". Zufahrt zur Villa etwas abenteuerlich, aber auch daran gewöhnt man sich recht schnell. Betreuung vor Ort durch Rodrigues (Mitarbeiter des Eigentümers) sehr gut. Insgesamt ist dieses Ferienhaus absolut zu empfehlen und wir haben unsere 2 Wochen Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Zumal die Villa auch verkehrstechnisch recht gut liegt und man sehr schnell auf der Autobahn ist bzw. auch die umliegenden Supermärkte in Calheta oder Ribeiro Brava ansteuern kann.

Clean, well designed villa with spectacular views!

We have just returned from 12 days at the self-catering Villa do Mar II and we loved it so much we did not want to leave! This is a totally private villa nestled on the side of a cliff overlooking a private beach with spectacular views of the unlimited expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. The sea is almost within a stone's throw of the property. Looking out of the windows in several of the rooms makes it feel like you're on a cruise ship because all you can see is the ocean! The swimming pool was perfect for pre-teen children - one end deep enough for an adult to stand in, the other end very shallow, and large enough to play and swim in. The weather in Madeira in high season is so pleasantly warm and humid that the pool was essential to cool off! The facilities of this recently new property were very well designed and immaculately clean. The modern well equipped kitchen was a joy to use (but keep it clean to avoid ants), and it was also great fun to cook in the BBQ (effectively an outdoor wood oven). It really helped having free wifi in the villa also. Did I mention that you can see the sea from inside? - I have never seen such an amazing view from a kitchen anywhere else! We loved the way the villa has been thoughtfully, carefully and colourfully decorated - even the colourful chimney above the outdoor brick fire! It really is a bright and happy place. It was great to have access to the private beach (shared with the other local properties) literally directly below the villa, accessed via a nearly vertical wooden staircase down to a series of stone steps. This included use of the reasonably equipped beach house. This grey pebble beach was great but the waves can be very strong so take care when paddling as the waves can easily carry pebbles in them. (There is a man-made sandy beach in nearby Calheta). The villa is close to the resort of Calheta - great for dolphin watching trips, restaurants, shopping and the Pingo Doce supermarket. This was our first visit to the stunning island of Madeira, and we definitely want to return and stay in this property again. The section of track down to the villa from the road is certainly narrow and very steep, but we quickly got used to it - tip: keep your car in 1st gear all the way down as well as up it; a small car with less powerful engine could stall in 1st gear up this hill unless you keep the revs high enough.

Fabulous villa with stunning views

The villa excelled expectations in every way. The view was stunning and the villa itself was perfect. The location is very peaceful indeed and ensures a totally relaxing stay. A very slight downside was the approach road which, if you are a nervous driver may be a little daunting but I'm sure if you have a hire car and are willing to drive abroad, it wouldn't pose a problem. The villa isn't cheap but I guess you get what you pay for. The property manager was really helpful and at the end of the phone if need be. All in all a perfect place to escape but not too far from reality to explore the rest of the beautiful island.

Unschlagbare Lage und Aussicht.

Villa do mar II ist unserer Meinung nach das schönste Ferienhaus auf Madeira. Die Lage ist grandios direkt am Meer mit privatem Strandhaus und Privatstrand die über eine Treppe zu erreichen sind. Die Einrichtung ist sehr liebevoll ausgewählt. Der Poolbereich ist eine Oase der Entspannung. Der Eigentümer und sein Team sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Für uns gibt es nur eine Adresse auf Madeira und das ist Villa do mar II.

Superb oasis of calm and relaxation, hard to beat.

Villa do Mar II is the perfect holiday destination for those seeking privacy in an exquisite setting, with uninterrupted views of the sea, set against the dramatic back drop which is the rocky terrain of Madeira. The pool area is stunning and the living accommodation is exceptionally well designed, contemporary, and full of character. The property was as new on our visit and the owner was very hospitable. We tried Espetada at Villa da Carne on his recommendation and were not disappointed by the quality of food and friendly service. Mostly we catered for ourselves at the villa as we loved to eat in the beautiful dining area with panoramic views of the sea. We also attempted to recreate the Espetada dish on the wood fired BBQ. We enjoyed our visit to the nearby Centro das Arte Casa da Mudas and took many photos of the contemporary building set against the dramatic coast line. A trip to the viewing platform at Cabo Girao, and the cable cars in Funchal are also a must do. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this villa to family or friends, we would point out that following a very easy 35 minute drive from the airport, the final short stretch of approach road is typical of a coastal/cliff area, a little daunting initially, but soon becomes part of the special nature of the villa's location.
