Where to start...Barbara and family are incredibly generous and gracious hosts. Our family feels so lucky to have shared their home for the few days we did. Driving down their majestic cypress lined drive seemed like we were entering another world. Once at the home the star of the property, Baloo the giant bear of a Bernese Mountain dog, immediately captured our hearts and attention. Baloo, the goodest of boys, kept us entertained and provided an extra level of comfort you will not find elsewhere.
The home is large, yet very comfortable, keeping five us happily together. The views must been seen in person to fully appreciate as do the breakfasts. Please do yourself a favor and indulge in the homemade breads provided. The restaurant at the bottom of the hill (easily walkable) was something out of a movie...more Bernese Mountain dogs, attentive staff, incredible ambiance and of course outstanding food. We left with the whole staff, including the little girl (Anna?) bidding us Ciao! as we left completely satisfied with our pasta, wine and tiramisu lunch.
In order to get to this property you will need a car as it is 10 minutes or so to the Calenzano train station. The train to and from Firenze (Florence) was an easy and cheap ride, an excellent way to see the city while enjoying the tranquility of Tuscany. We will be back!
