The pool was very refreshing. The house was comfortable and we really enjoyed the outdoor living space except for the fumes from traffic on the road. Easy access to the beach. Nearby restaurants and an excellent small grocery were quite handy. Towns in the area offer lots of restaurants and shopping. The pura vida vibe was everywhere, people were friendly and we always felt safe.

Puerto Viejo is a beautiful, small town still packed with community and culture. We loved our stay- the property was beautiful, the proximity to the beach is what we wanted and the town is full of wonderful people!

This was the perfect place for us to stay as we explored the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. We spent time on the beach, had cocktails at the lovely Banana Azul a 3 minute walk down the beach, rented bikes a 5 minute walk away at Pura Rides and biked a 30km beach hopping route to Manzanillo and took tuk-tuks to and from the main drag of Puerto Veijo where the bars, shops and restaurants are. Regarding the house - some standout things: 1) incredible check in process and easy communication with the property manager via whatsapp. It was all super slick and transparent. 2) The pool seemed small when we first arrived but it was the BEST. We went in every day for a nice cool off plunge after hiking, biking and beaching and 3) the location - PERFECT for nice relaxing mornings hearing the waves crashing and just a little 5 minute tuk tuk to Hot Rocks to party or Luna Mays to shop! LOVED every minute!

Do not book if allergic to cats

The booking states that pets are not allowed. However, in the welcome packet from the owner, it states that a cat lives with them when they are in town. The cat hung around every day and tried to come in in the house multiple times. One time my daughter tried to block the cat from entering and it bit/scratched her leg. We would’ve never booked the place had we known that a cat is allowed indoors. The property management company tried to lie and gaslight saying that’s not true even though I showed them a picture of the welcome packet. Luckily my husband is only mildly allergic. We ended up staying in the house as there were no other options in the area. . The lounge chairs by the pool had cracks in them. This caused discomfort/pinching when sitting. The floor surfaces outside are SUPER slick. We all fell multiple times. One time causing an injury for my daughter. The gardener was there and heard it happen. Most of the stairs have a non slip piece on it. When we grabbed silverware or glasses, we often found dirty pieces. We shared all of these concerns with the property management, but they denied or made excuses.Plenty of towels for baths and beach. I was worried about that without a washer and dryer. Overall, the house was nicely decorated. The beach was beautiful. The sand was amazing! However, the beach was unswimmable. Even with older kids, we could only go a few feet out and the kids had to be right next to us. My husband and younger daughter got caught in undertow.

Loved the property

We had a wonderful time at Casa Luna House. The property is beautiful and well maintained. We loved the outdoor spaces and it worked out well for us to have the separate rooms downstairs, it gave my daughter and her partner privacy while I was upstairs with her teenagers. The only issue I had was that the coffee pot was unusable. The wet coffee grounds hadn't been removed from the previous guest and it was covered in mold. A through cleaning was needed. Having the beach just across the road and the constant sound of the waves was wonderful. I also really like the close access to a little store as well as the charming hotel Banana Azuel for occasional meals. I would recommend Casa Luna House to everyone.

Casa Luna

Casa Luna was a great place to experience the cool, calm vibe of the Caribbean. The host Rise Caribe was top notch and very friendly. From providing information to checking in to see if we needed anything, we felt that we were priority. Definitely would stay here again or another property managed by Rise Caribe.

Amazing Stay steps away from the Beach

This was a Fantastic Place. The home was beautifully decorated, clean, and steps away from the water. At night you can hear the water waves and feel the breeze. The Host of the home stayed in contact for any needs we may have. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a Great experience.

Great stay at the beach

After a busy week touring Monteverde and Arenal, our stay at this house on Playa Negra was a much needed restful few days at the beach. Loved the proximity to the beach to pop over the street when we wanted as well as the relaxing sounds of the waves and ocean from the expansive balcony and all the delicious restaurants nearby. House was clean, beautifully furnished and well set up with everything we needed, even a few beach chairs and boogie boards and noodles. Only thing I hadn’t truly focused on when booking is the ground level bathroom and bedroom with exterior kitchenette is its own separate unit which requires you to take the exterior stairs to get up to the rest of the house. These are still within the gated garden but nevertheless we ended up having my husband sleep with our 10 and 13 year old down on that level as it seemed too isolated for them if they needed us during the night and I stayed upstairs with our older teen. There were plenty of beds to make that work. We hope to be back to explore more of that area. All the beaches were amazing as well as nearby Cahuita National Park.

Beach front privacy

Although we were one couple, the property offered plenty of space for three couples. We opted for one of the upstairs bedrooms as it was convenient for the main kitchen. The AC in the bedroom(s) was greatly appreciated. Cooling dips in the small pool were also a huge plus for us. Likewise covered deck offered welcomed outdoor space even if it rained. The property is within walking distance to Puerto Viejo town, but not close enough to be disturbed by nightlife. The road between the house and the beach was surprisingly busy in the day but much quiter at night. We would fully recommend.

Lovely home, excellent service

We stayed at this lovely home recently. A very relaxing spot. There is a road which can be busy (during the day, not evening) between the house and the beach but the whole area is so chill that it didn’t seem to matter. We went to Banana Azul every night for drinks and dinner which is a 3 minute walk - great spot. The beach is directly across the street and not busy. The property manager is excellent and very responsive to any inquiries. You do pay someone to do your clothes washing (washer and dryer onsite are not available for guests to use) but the fee is nominal and the property manager will send someone as soon as you request it, and I was happy to support the local community. Nina at Gecko Tours was also very helpful booking us into tours at the last minute. There is incredible zip lining nearby at Nativo adventures (top 3 in Costa Rica according to the guide) and I would have to agree.

Oasis by the beach

My family and I stayed here for 4 nights and absolutely loved our experience here! We loved that there were 2 bedrooms upstairs in the main area and a huge bedroom (almost an in-law unit) downstairs due to the fact that we can all be together but not necessarily on top of each other. The home comes with everything you need and we made good use of all the amenities. We particularly loved that the beach was SO CLOSE! And not only that, but it’s such a beautiful beach. We enjoyed staying just outside of Puerto Viejo away from the hustle and bustle. Thank you for allowing to stay and enjoy your home!

Lovely Beach Housr

We enjoyed our stay in this house located right across the street from the beach. It was conveniently located near restaurants and a small market. The main kitchen/living room area was quite hot, but the bedrooms had air conditioning and the outside deck had a nice breeze. The dipping pool was perfect!

Anniversary get away

The house is right across the beach from a road. The road is not heavily trafficked, but you do hear it. Both upstairs rooms are the same with their own bathroom. You can hear the ocean from the rooms. View is amazing. Neighborhood is quiet. There is a small grocery store by the Hotel Banana de Azul. Good place for drinks and food on the beach. Puerto Viejo is about 1.25 miles from the house. You can ride bikes, or just walk.

Perfect place to stay in Carribean Costa Rica

This house was fantastic and suited us very well. Three climate controlled bedrooms with the rest of the house open air Costa Rican style. Location is perfect. We checked out many beaches and in the end decided that our favorite beach was the 20 miles of black sand located less than a one minute walk from our door (Playa Negra). You can also walk the beach to Peurto Viejo if you don't want to deal with cars. Very relaxing vacation. Highly recommend the coffee tour and Cahuita Park. We cooked Carribean style breakfasts and a few dinners and ate our on the lanai. Sounds of waves and even some views. Plunge pool is small but surprisingly deep and refreshing. Outdoor shower a big plus after coming back from beaches. This house is not huge but had plenty of different places to sit/hangout and relax so you can be both alone and/or with your group. Walking distance and driving distance to multiple restaurants. Grocery stores and pharmacies a short drive from the house. My family now wants to check out a different part of the world - but I want to head back to Costa Rica and stay again at this house! The country is beautiful and the people are friendly and helpfu.

Fantastic location for Carribean Costa Rica

We loved this property. Spent two weeks here and hated to leave. While we did check out multiple beaches in the area, in the end we decided that 20 miles of black sand 1 minute walk from our door (Playa Negra) was the best beach to be had. The property itself is very well layed out with that Costa Rica feeling of being outdoors even when in the house (except for the bedrooms that were climate controlled). Grocery stores and pharmacies were nearby. We ate breakfasts and even a few dinners Caribbean style cooking in the kitchen and eating out on the lanai. Ate out too and really enjoyed the restaurants in the area. Highly advise the chocolate tour and making it up to Cahuita Park. The property itself had everything we needed including a small but surprisingly deep plunge pool and an outdoor shower. The property managers were very helpful. I would love to make it back to this house and this part of Costa Rica. A beautiful country, people and house to stay in. Such a lovely place to visit!!!

Exploring the Limon Province

Great house. Excellent location. We had a rental car, but you would not need one. You can walk to town (20 min on the beach) or take a cab or tuk tuk or bus. Lot's of fun stuff to see. We spent 2 weeks. We were never bored.

Nice 3 BR private home

We were greeted by Fabio, a pleasant and helpful property manager assistant, along with a nice basket of fruit and locally made chocolates. The garden and plunge pool were beautiful and well maintained. All 3 bedrooms were comfortable and air-conditioned. The "dry" setting on the AC was very helpful to dry towels and clothing in an otherwise humid environment. The kitchen was equipped with most everything we needed. There are tons of restaurants in Puerto Viejo (a 5 minute drive) so we did not do much cooking! There is no TV (which we didn't need anyway), but the internet was great. The black sand beach was beautiful and sparsely populated. Our biggest disappointment was the constant and loud traffic on the road between the house and the beach. Although there were many people on bicycles and motorbikes, access to a car would be very helpful in order to comfortably get to town and to visit all of the wonderful parks and beaches that are within about 10 miles. Unfortunately we arrived after dark, and the house was very difficult to find. Set your WAZE map to "Black Pearl" motel which is next door to the property. Thank you to Kassandra for being readily available to answer all of our questions!
