Perfect Location & Base To Explore

When you see that this VRBO has such high ratings, there is a reason. It was fabulous! The property is as beautiful as the pictures. You are tucked into the jungle, but within walking distance to a grocery store, roadside market, restaurants, and the beach. The walking path to the beach is even magical. The landscaping on the property is a vacation all on its own. We saw monkeys, a cute agouti family, beautiful birds and butterflies, and even a sloth. We went in the "rainy season" (June) and were a bit nervious about what that would look like, but that was even magical. It rained everyday, but not for very long, and I kept talking videos off the back porch, because it was so beautiful, warm, and relaxing. We took a dance class on the back patio with a local lady that Erinn recommended. The house was open, comfortable, and felt in harmony with the beauty of the property. You will see this in other reviews, but Erinn was amazing too. You can tell that she really cares about the time you are having and wants you to feel welcome. She truly goes above and beyond in so many ways. And lastly, I debated going to the Pacific side, or the Carribean side of Costa Rica. I haven't been to the Pacific side yet, but the richness of culture, the natural beauty, the variety of scenery, the friendliness of the locals, the food...even the drive down from San Jose was incredible. We just fell in love with this area, and Casa Bonita was the beautiful home-base of our adventures. Grateful!

Our stay at Casa Bella was absolutely wonderful. The home is comfortable, well appointed, immaculately clean and beautiful. Our grandchildren in particular loved the beautiful swimming pool and the monkeys, birds, lizards, agoutis and other animals that visited us there. Everything was exactly what we expected from the description. Erinn, our host, was awesome. She responded quickly when we had questions, made great recommendations for guides, restaurants, shops - she’s a delightful person and we enjoyed getting to know her. We highly recommend this VRBO!

Perfect Family Getaway

We arrived a little bit after 8 PM, after a crazy drive from SJO. Erinn was in constant contact with us to help us, and when our GPS did us dirty near Limon, , she knew exactly how to get us back on track and was very patient and kind. The pictures make the house look like a magazine spread, and that's because the house/houses are stunning! Stunning and comfortable. She truly has thought of everything that you would want or need for your stay. The beds in the houses are more comfortable than my own bed at home. As far as located, it's perfectly located to walk over to the bike rentals, get your 8 bikes, and bike all over Puerto Viejo, to Manzanillo, anywhere. We had a rental car and went other places, as well, but the bikes were handy. Some days, we stayed at the pool, cooked on the grill, which was very, very nice, by the way. We are already planning another trip back with friends. Her setup is three buildings: the main house has two bedrooms downstairs, basically an apartment upstairs that is very private (our 20 year old stayed up there the entire time) , and two other separate buildings that are just lovely and very different from each other. The jungle surrounding the property and on the property is so lush and private, you never see or hear anything but nature-many monkeys! I hate to say it, but Erinn has ruined any other rental for me, because she's set the bar so high. You will love this place!

Property and Host are Incredible!

We stayed at Casa Bella for 8 nights (April 2025). We traveled as a party of 8 (4 adults, 4 teens). As will be evident with this review, this was the trip of a lifetime for us, we can’t wait to come back!If you are contemplating travel to Costa Rica, I would encourage you to alter your plans and prioritize travel to “Caribe” or Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast. If you are traveling from the major airports, like San Jose, it’s a 4–5-hour transport which you can arrange simply and affordably. Don’t be scared off by that distance, it is a beautiful drive and not a hassle in any regard. Lots of resources to read about the beauty, people, history, culture, pace of life which differs quite a bit from the rest of the country. The owner/host of the property is Erinn. She is incredible - you can have as little or as much contact with her as you desire during your stay. She’s local and available should you have any needs and provides a wealth of resources for restaurants, excursions, transportation or any number of questions you may have. She also is incredibly well connected with any contacts you may need while staying at Casa Bella for out of ordinary requests. She’s extremely responsive and hospitable of the needs of her guests. She connected us to a contact (Tune) who helped us with transport throughout the week and we couldn’t have been more pleased or gotten by without Tune. (Read more in the comments)

Caribbean paradise for our family

We spent a week at this lovely home. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and suited our family of 8. The pool was one of the best we've ever experienced and the wildlife in the surrounding trees and grounds were abundant (sloths, monkeys, and birds galore). Like any place you would stay in a tropical climate, there are also bugs, critters, etc. both inside and outside of the houses! Erinn, Melvin and the cleaning crew were easy to work with and kind. Easy to walk to the grocery store, restaurants, and the beach as well! A wonderful stay for all of us!

The Mansion - Breathtaking!

Upon viewing this property, our group of 5 immediately nicknamed it the “Mansion.” It was exactly as described, just stunning and gorgeous! Erinn and her adorable dog Foxy greeted us upon our arrival and gave us the grand tour. The grounds and pool area were beyond compare and we enjoyed many morning coffees and afternoon cocktails there. Erinn was available to us and immediately responsive for anything we needed, a premier host extraordinaire! One day while the pool was being cleaned, we were treated to a sighting of the “resident” sloth enjoying a meal in a nearby tree; I had personally asked to see one and Erinn delivered! The 4:30am wake-up calls from the howler monkeys and birdsong thruout the day made the stay even more enjoyable. Additionally, a pair of agoutis entertained us with their antics and I watched one drag a huge coconut all the way across the lawn one afternoon. All in all, our time there wasn’t long enough and I look forward to returning. Finally, a huge shout out to Tune, our ground transportation driver, especially for our trip to SJO on our departure day. We encountered an accident on the main road and had to take a detour which was an adventure in itself! We enjoyed beautiful scenery along the route to Poas Volcano National Park and saw the La Paz Waterfall which was absolutely amazing! Thank you Erinn for an awesome and welcoming stay for our first visit to Costa Rica!

Beautiful & Relaxing

The property gives you the feel that your staying right in nature. Agouti visited daily, we heard howler monkeys, saw a sloth on our walk back from breakfast, and the enjoyed the beautiful sounds of all the birds. We were a little concerned about lack of air conditioning but we were pleasantly surprised. The pool kept us cool during the day and the open air bedrooms with the fans actually got a bit chilly. It was wonderful sleeping to the sounds and fresh air. The house is well stocked, close to the beach, close to the best breakfast at Gypsea and fresh, warm croissants delivered each morning to the local market just down the street. Puerto Viejo and Punta UVA are a short drive, as well as Manzillo Reserve. Erinn did a great job recommending Abel for us as a guide hiking Manzillo - we saw and learned so much, She recommended Herschel for surfing - he was amazing and Jason cooked us 2 great dinners! We relaxed and enjoyed our stay. Don’t let the lack of air conditioning keep you away from this property. It is well worth the trip and Erinn is very responsive to any needs or questions.

Bonita Casa!

Went with my adult children and their spouses, and my 77 year old mother! The grounds were amazing. We saw howler monkeys, sloths, toucans, parrots, parakeets, geckos, the most beautiful butterflies you’ve ever seen, hummingbirds in many different sizes. We were a couple block walk from the beach and restaurants. Our host Erinn was fabulous. Super helpful with any of our needs. The house has everything you need for a wonderful vacation. It is the jungle, howler monkeys will wake you up with their amazing howls very early in the morning, but it’s a have to experience moment. There are a lot of bugs, be prepared to wear bug spray, but again, it’s the jungle. Would definitely stay again.

Amazing Property in the Jungle

We had an amazing stay. This is a gorgeous place for larger groups. Monkeys, sloths, butterflies all visited the property. The beach is a short walk away and the grounds are beautiful!

Magical stay in paradise!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Erinn and Darren's rental. The house and grounds were gorgeous and well appointed. The location is great with lots of beaches and restaurants at the end of the road. The pool was beautiful and cleaned every day. Erinn was very responsive with questions we had before (many as we were a big group of friends) and during our stay. We always felt safe and welcomed in her home. I would highly recommend this location for anyone looking to stay in Puerto Viejo area. Erinn has a lot of knowledge of the area and was able to provide many recommendations of things to do and places to eat. Erinn arranged our transportation from San Jose airport with Tune and that process was seamless and less expensive than booking through another company. Since there was six of us, the van was spacious and Tune was so nice, even stopping from some lychee fruit on the side of the road! We all really enjoyed waking up in the morning and opening all the windows to enjoy the cool air, drinking coffee and listening to sounds of the forest. Erinn had coffee and snacks for us when we arrived including beer and wine which was such a nice touch. The cleaners came mid-week and there are 2 washers and 2 dryers which is quite the luxury in a rental! There were plenty of extra towels in the laundry room too. When we did have a concern (some of the bug screen had holes in it in the small casita), Erinn was very responsive and had her team come and fix it that day!

Beautiful Property!

What a fantastic vacation! The property is gorgeous, spacious, and clean! It’s well stocked with necessary items. The pool offers much needed refreshment after hikes/sightseeing. It is well/frequently maintained. The grounds are surrounded by exotic flowers/plants and are frequently visited by (non-threatening) wildlife. The sounds of nature are quite amazing! Darren and Erinn are wonderful! They are very willing to help in any way needed and are a wealth of knowledge. Costa Rica is full of beauty, and a must-do for those who love to explore!

Excellent Property

The place is as nice as the pictures show. Plenty of room, two air-conditioned bedrooms, laundry room, magnificent pool which was nice to come home to each day and cool off and relax. Cahuita was warm and humid while we were there so having a place to back to and unwind was soooo nice. Erinn is a great host and had some great recommendations but also let us do our own thing. Convenient to restaurants, beaches, grocery store, bikes, which we used a ton. (Bikes are right behind the grocery store). We did not have a car but next time I think I would rent one and make the drive. I highly recommend this place!

Most Amazing Jungle Gardens

Our stay at this place was wonderful! We stayed for 4 days on this beautiful property and felt like it was not enough time. Getting to the area was easy using Waze. The property was clean and welcoming. Pretty much as the pictures. Erinn is an extraordinary hostess with the most. We had wine and snacks awaiting us as gifts. The area has great restaurants at walking distance, and a convenience grocery store. The grounds of the property is nestled in the jungle. We saw a variety of jungle animals and lots of birds that call the area home. I wish I had brought my binoculars! The garden is beautiful and smells like jungle heaven. We enjoyed just sitting outside by the pool and taking in all there is to see, hear, smell, feel and touch. Such a relaxing property. We had the much needed rest we needed, in an amazing place! Thank you!

Perfect getaway

The property was beautiful, lots of room for the seven of us, the kids loved staying in their own casitas and made as good use of the pool as we did of the beach. The area is quiet but has so much in walking or walking distance. I can't say enough about our hosts and their warm, friendly support and helpfulness in making suggestions, arranging drivers, providing some gift basket items to get us started. We had a wonderful week at Casa Bella.

Great place, sloths, morphos, tranquility

Wonderful spot just outside (south side) of Puerto Viejo, the owner and host Erinn was very helpful and communicative. The jaguar rescue is near by and worth a visit, and the beaches of Punta Uva are as well. We had a great week long stay in this spot and would come again.

A Relaxing Stay in the Rain Forest

Our week long vacation at Casa Bella was our 7th trip to Costa Rica...1st time on the Caribbean coast. This property was so fabulous we rarely left it. We spent most of the week enjoying the huge outdoor living area: floating in the saltwater pool, enjoying all the wildlife (especially our resident sloth and family of agoutis) and beautiful gardens with all the hummingbirds. This property is heaven for bird watchers! The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We loved how the inside sitting and dining area totally opened up to the rainforest: sat there early in the morning enjoying our coffee, reading, and listening to the rainforest wake up. Howler monkeys were so close! Supermarkets were nearby so we didn't have to venture far for groceries. We cooked out on the grill and also went to restaurants right around the corner, where we had some great meals and plenty of fresh seafood, A chilled bottle of wine and snacks were waiting for us when we arrived late in the evening after driving from San Jose....so nice! Erinn's directions were perfect! She was readily available for any concerns (of which we had none) and we enjoyed our short chats with her. We hope to go back again...next time for a much longer stay!
