We rented this apartment in Oct25 for 705 based on the photos & reviews on Vrbo. On arrival we saw that the exterior of the flat had a dampness problem (see photo). On entering, the lounge & kitchen looked pleasant, & Irina (the key holder) was very pleasant, informative & kind. However, there was no mention of the significant dampness on the bedroom wall, which we only noticed later. There was a damp, unpleasant smell from the washing machine when we opened it, & a brief wipe inside with a tissue resulted in it being covered in black mould (see photo). That evening we saw that plaster was coming away from the bedroom wall and there was a musty smell in the room & in the wardrobe. On our 3rd night there was the rustling sound of pieces of masonry falling from the bedroom wall; it was not possible to get out of bed without walking on dust and plaster (see photos). My wife felt that the wall was not safe & she couldn’t sleep in the room, so the next day we checked into the QE hotel in Cadiz at a cost of over 300.On reporting this to Irina, she apologised profusely & a few days later we received an apology from the owners, saying that they were aware of the problem & builders were arranged to repair the wall. They also apologised, saying that they did not know it had deteriorated so much. This property should not have been rented out in this state & we received no warning from Vrbo or the owners before our trip. We would not have rented it in this state of repair had we known.
