The apartment itself was perfect with 4 good sized rooms in a busy but relatively quiet street. Plenty of restaurants, shops and cafes with main beach an easy 10 minute stroll away. The provision of turkish towels and a beach bag was an especially nice touch. Outdoor area was also spacious and comfortable.
What really soured our experience was the check in and check out processes. I asked the day prior to arrival whether we could check in earlier as we had lunch plans with Kim, the property manager, saying she would get back to me. She didn't. We arrived, luggage in hand, and asked if she could help us find a place to store our luggage. She flatly responded no. I asked her to please message as soon as the apartment was ready, which she assured us she would. She didn't. Check in time passes and STILL nothing. When we got the keys at 4pm and went in, cleaning products were left in the stair well (for days) and the floors were wet so clearly it wasn't ready in time. The cleaning products disappeared the second afternoon, which bothered us to think someone had accessed our space while we were using it. This negative experience was only amplified on check out when we discovered Kim and the cleaner at the door chatting away and cleaning the external stair well at 9:45am before our scheduled check out. They then entered the apartment while one of our party were still in the bathroom despite us saying so and continuing to clean the stairs as we were trying to bring the rubbish and our luggage out. It was so uncomfortable and ironic considering we weren't able to check in on time and there was this pressure to rush us out before we were ready. Communication was just a complete fail and we won't ever book with Raine & Horne in Byron again.
