Oceanfront 4 bedroom house w/ private W/D, WiFi, shared pool, AC

  • The welcome mat is out at HARPER HOUSE. Perched along the beach, HARPER HOUSE is host to super fishing, sunning, swimming and surfing. The adventurous will find the famed Cape Hatteras Lighthouse just a mile walk down the very quiet Buxton beachfront. Located at the end of Tower Circle, the ground level has good parking, 2 carports, shower and easy beach access. On level one oceanfront bedrooms one and two share a bath and have deck access. Bedrooms three and four have easy access to a hall bath and laundry area. Level two has a large great room with cathedral ceiling, half bath, entertainment center and resort furnishings that breathe the Hatteras life. Entertaining is a breeze in the large, well stocked kitchen with breakfast bar and ocean view dining. Guests will appreciate the accessory wet bar. Wide furnished sun decks wrap HARPER HOUSE on the east, south and west sides. Hooray for HARPER HOUSE!

    You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking which will be sent to your email. You will not be able to check in until we have received your signature electronically.


    Please note: Guests have access to the Club Hatteras Pool Facility. Additional details around this facility will be shared in your check-in email and during the check-in process. The club is typically open Mid-May to Mid-October, depending on weather.

Happy Spring Break at the Harper House

We thoroughly enjoyed our Spring Break vacation at the Harper House. A great home for our rather large family of 7 and everyone loved it. Great views and literally steps from the beach. Added entertainment by surfers and dolphins that was very interesting and exciting. Would love to return and would recommend to friends and family. Thank you to the Harper House for a very fun Spring Break!

The house location was awesome! Close to stores, shopping and restaurants. The house needs some TLC and a deep cleaning. Floors and furniture were disgusting.

Location right on the sand was excellent. Home needs some attention and updating.

Perfect for surf fishing! Best to navigate area with a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Streets sand-covered or under water much of the time. Nice fish-cleaning area outside.

Angel worked very hard to get sand removed from the entry steps to house. The ocean was very angry the first few days we were there. Water everywhere under house. We loved our stay even though very different from many other stays. There is plenty of seating in great room and the beds are very comfortable

Dream come true

This beach house was exactly what we were searching for. Great mellow location. The beach is viewed from almost every window. Equipped with everything you will need. The views are spectacular. We seen some of the most amazing scenes while we visited. Kite surfers. Sunrise and sunset. Double rainbows. There was so many beautiful seashells to collect as well. This trip was so important. It was my mother’s bucket list wish. It was heavenly. I recommend this rental to anyone looking for a peaceful beach house that can be enjoyed day and night.

Love the harper

Been staying there for 10 years God willing me and the family will be there for 10 more. The view is unbelievable!!! If mike (the owner) ever decided to sell I'm all in. Sharon from vaccacas office is fantastic helped me reverse the weeks I always want. Couldn't be happier.

Harper House - JAN 2024

The only downside to staying here is the encroachment of the surf that occasionally sweeps beneath the house and driveway. Safe parking for vehicles during these times (...now more frequent) is a challenge.

Harper House

House was great for view and location! Nails sticking up on top deck, floors were sticky, bedroom doors don’t lock, had to buy a coffee pot because the one there was dirty. Didn’t help washing it.! Carpets need a good clean! Loved the living room!

Great location

Nothing like being only steps from the water. Listening to the waves all day and night, sitting on the decks overlooking the ocean is simply wonderful. You forgot something? It steps back to the house... Bathroom? Mere steps away... Lunch? Run upstairs and grab something. Everything we needed plus was there.

House needs a deep clean

The walls need to be cleaned. All dishes need to be cleaned and floors need a deep clean. Everything from carpet to linoleum is nasty. Couch is nasty so I sat on blankets that I washed before use. Huge roaches in the house! House needs some attention from owners clearly!

Please be aware the top deck banisters are loose and a child could easily fall through! We reported it and they never sent anyone out to repair them.

Wonderful view and easy access to the ocean

The house on a few easy steps to the beach it was great to just step onto the beach. We could see the waves and sit and watch the ocean from the living room. We came for the beach. The house is for sale and badly in need of TLC. Some of the sliding patio doors done work, a screen was torn and the first night we saw an American cockroach. The staff at Vacasa were polite and friendly and apologized for this but didn't do much else to correct the situation. A maintenance person came to spray for mold in the AC vents but when asked for pesticides said he could not give any out. We continued to see roaches in the evenings in the kitchen and downstairs. Definitely put a big damper on our time there.

Harper House was amazing

We loved everything about this house and its location. We cannot wait to return. We cook a lot when we do the beach house vacation and were extremely pleased with the kitchen and its setup. A couple things to be aware of if your looking at this house. High tide comes to the house now, so there is limited beach space in front of the house, which gets shared by the others on the streets behind you. It never felt crowded, and people were courteous, but you don't have that large beach space in front of the house like other properties. This was a huge plus for me, some others may not like it so much. There are also a lot of stairs. That is to be expected for "on the beach" houses. This may be an issue for older guests or older dogs Part of the road and the driveway are sand. We had AWD or 4WD vehicles. I do not think it would have been an issue if we didn't, but that is probably something to keep in mind. All these are issues with a lot of beach houses, and no complaint at all on our part, just something to keep in mind as you plan a vacation. Again, can't wait to get back to this house. 42 years of OBX trips, and this is our current favorite.

great location

had an absolute blast right on the beach we do an annual guys fishing trip every year and this has been better than most a few issues we had was first the lady from vacasa called at like 7am on sunday the first morning there not that big of a deal but still dont wake people up on a Sunday morning . there were cigarette butts all over outside would not have been an issue if the agreement hadn't specifically said no smoking inside and out there were screens laying on the ground missing from windows and a door the ceiling fans throughout were very nasty just about every faucet In the house was dripping trash pickup was also an issue cans were full upon arrival trash was dumped once and it was on a Thursday not Tuesday or Friday like the check in notes and even still they only dumped 1 can

The views are great the house layout is great

The house is situated directly beside the ocean. The views are amazing. Pretty much the ocean may come up directly to the small dune protecting the base of the house. The home itself is in need of updating and cleaning. The place was very dirty upon arriving. Sand was on the floor already in some places. The kitchen floor was gross. The shower was gross. The carpet is relatively old. 2 dying roaches were found on the first morning we were there, one in the kitchen and another in a bedroom. We didn't see any more after that. The rental company provides clean sheets which is good, however, the blankets were dirty and had to be laundered before we could use them. Since I was in the off season, I wasn't disappointed because the rate was good, however, it seems that for the same week next year the rate is a lot higher, I would certainly be disappointed if I paid that much.
