El hotel es acogedor, pero está un poco alejado de la ciudad. La habitación que me tocó estaba en el primer piso y no me sentía en privacidad aunque la habitación era cómoda y estaba aceptablemente limpia. Se podría describir mejor como un pub/restaurante que tiene habitaciones para hospedarse, en luigar que hotel. El personal es muy atento y se nota que se preocupan porque estés cómodo.

Zunächst das Positive. Ich konnte sehr früh in der Unterkunft einchecken und mein Auto auf dem großzügigen Parkplatz neben dem Haus abstellen. Darum hatte ich die Unterkunft auch gebucht. Fast direkt vor dem Hotel fährt der Bus nach Brighton. Ein 24h-Ticket kostet 5,50£. Ich wurde sehr freundlich begrüßt. Dann wurde mir mitgeteilt, dass es am nächsten Morgen keine warme Küche gäbe. Ich bekam daraufhin gleich ein Lunchpaket für den nächsten morgen. Jetzt zu den weniger schönen Dingen. Ich hatte ein Einzelzimmer gebucht. Diese war auf der Rückseite des Gebäudes und besaß einen eigenen Eingang ( Zimmernummer 14). Das Zimmer war sehr schlicht und zweckmäßig. Daher war erstmal alles ok und ich hab mich gleich mit dem Bus nach Brighton aufgemacht. Nach einem langen Tag in Brighton hab ich mich dann auf mein Bett gefreut. Ich musste dann feststellen, dass die Heizung nicht funktionierte und es sehr kalt wurde. Ich hatte auch das Gefühl, dass die Fenster nicht richtig dicht waren. Dann ist das Haus wahnsinnig hellhörig. Man hört die Straße sehr laut. Außerdem kam ich mir wie Harry Potter unter der Treppe vor. Die Eigentümer müssen ihre Wohnung direkt über dem Zimmer haben. Es war bis nachts um 1 abartig laut. Es hat gescheppert und gerumpelt. Am nächsten Morgen wollte ich meinen Schlüssel abgeben. Es war niemand zu erreichen und das B&B war auch komplett geschlossen. Da war mir klar, warum es keine warme Küche gab. Ich war anscheinend der einzige Gast.

Eine heruntergekommene Absteige. Kein Hotel,eine laute,dreckige Kneipe mit veralteten Zimmern.Gebäude von außen und innen verdreckt und runtergekommen. Sind sofort wieder abgereist.Frechheit sowas anzubieten bei Expedia

Basic, cheap but clean accommodation, perfect for a 1 or 2 night stay. I didn’t eat here so can’t comment on the food. Walking distance to local shops and various takeaways, petrol station just down the road and bus stop right outside. Large car park. Beautiful views of the coastline. Would consider staying here again.

Disappointing!

I had booked a room which included cooked breakfast. On arrival was told no chef no food. I was handed a breakfast bag containing a croissant, cereal bar, cocoa pops (i must of looked 5 years old) and half carton of milk which was warm by the morning. No apology no offer of a refund. Small towel was discoloured and shower head was rusty. All in all not impressed at all!!

The staff were very friendly and the hotel room was quite clean but the building itself was quite run down and not particularly clean. The bedroom windows were covered in bird poo. I think it was a reasonable price for 3 people to stay there and there was plenty of car parking space but if you want a fancy hotel this isn’t it.

Disappointed.

I booked the room late as it advertised a restaurant - not available due to staff shortages and no notification before, during or after booking. Not impressed. The room was cold - there was a second heater so that tells the story and the bathroom was freezing so that where the extra heater went. The room and bathroom condition was poor. It advertised free wifi but it was impossible to connect and I was next to the main building (pub) - not impressed. Free parking was useful. I left before breakfast which I expected but start time is 08:00 which is quite late. I would not stay here again.

Stayed in one of the small solo rooms while travelling for business, although the staff were friendly and the breakfast very nice not much else good can be said. No evening food was being served although it was advertised online and outside The room opened to the smoking area, the loud locals can't be helped but the small blind gave little privacy. The water temperature was lukewarm at best and the door to the bathroom struck the bed every time it was opened I'm sure the more expensive rooms are fine but for a single traveller, I would avoid

No food at the inn

No evening food available due to no kitchen staff. No mention of this at booking, room very basic and consistent noise from something throughout the night. Breakfast was available and the guy was lovely and breakfast ok.

A pleasant surprise

Chose this hotel because of a) its proximity to Sussex University and b) the low price. My modest expectations were exceeded: the staff were really friendly and helpful, the bar was pleasant, and the room - while small and slightly shabby - was very clean. My only criticism is that breakfast didn't start until 9am on Saturday (an hour after I had to leave) so I missed starting the day with a full English.

Would not and could not fault the Downs hotel. Was absolutely perfect for my needs. Great value for money, friendly staff, lovely cooked breakfast, and free on site parking. I regard this place as a real find and will be booking again :)

Nice room great full English

Hotel was shabby from outside... An old pub which could do with updating. Room was nice and clean and modern and very comfortable. Full English breakfast was good in morning. Staff friendly. Noisy road at front so need windows shut at night. All in all a nice affordable stay thank you.

Terrible

When you pay for an ensuite room it isnt allt to ask to have running water and heat. Neither of qhichbi had for my entire 2 day stay. I had no running water in the shower at all. Zero and the sink tap had a cold water tap and a luke warm tepid tap. I gave up and had to boil a kettle to have a wash. The radiator was stone cold and no heat for 2 days. I was so cold i had to get under the quilt just to warm up. It was dreadful. A lady at breakfast did come to see and chexked the shower and confirmed it needed fixing and she advised me to use a communal bathroom. As a lone female traveller I would not use them as a matter of safety and especially as alcohol is served inma pub below. I paid for a bathroom and this is what i wanted. Another couple at breakfast complained that they had running water but it was cold and no heat. I cannot believe they have had the cheek to take money for another booking which I cancelled based on this exoerience. Under the consumer act they are in breach of contract and have not provided the service paid for and not to a comfortable standard. I dont enjoy writing such a negative review but sadly ive been left with little choice.
