This is our third year at this cabin. Matt and Renae are excellent hosts. The check in was seamless with no problems. Everything you need is there. Our stay consisted of my wife, my daughter's family and myself. We had the bedroom upstairs and my daughter's family had the whole lower level. There is plenty of room upstairs and downstairs. This year we went in February as compared to January. January has always been cold, but this year in February, we were able to fish without houses and only wore light clothing. Our focus on the trip is family time, but one the highlights is the fireplace. Very relaxing just to sit by the fire, play boardgames and puzzles. We will definitely return.

This place is AMAZING. Absolutely perfect for a quiet getaway from the world. Matt and Renee are incredible hosts, the cabin is extremely comfortable and very well stocked. We truly enjoyed our time and will definitely be back.

Our stay at Lazy Pines during our Thanksgiving holiday get away was excellent despite the instant winter that greeted us on our first night. We were already settled in when the snow and wind came on strong but we had started a fire in the wonderful fireplace that took the chill off and made the place warm and cozy. While we did not get to enjoy the lake, pontoon or much of the outside, being able to relax and venture out with our pups was the best. This was our younger pup’s first snow! The views are gret with an entire wall of windows. The cabin is so well equipped with almost everything you could want in the way of cooking. Super comfortable bed, high end towels and linens completed the experience. The attention to small details makes a big difference. Things like a bathroom vanity and sink that was installed at a more comfortable height. A very generous supply of dry split firewood and one of the best working fireplaces that I have ever encountered. It was easy to create the draft and easily start a fire which burned in a nice slow manner while still producing the entrancing flames. Communication with the owners, Matt and Renae was easy and our questions ahead of arriving were answered swiftly. Renae had the lights on for us which made for a nice welcome. This is a great place for a cold weather getaway and I imagine a fantastic summer place as well with the available pontoon. Maybe they should include snowmobiles in the winter? We would stay again in a heartbeat.

This was our second stay at Lazy Pines, & we had another fabulous time. We were able to spend a little over three weeks at the cabin, & we took advantage of everything it had to offer. Some days, we spent a great deal of time by the lake watching the wildlife & enjoying the peace & quiet. Other days, we spent time inside the cabin baking, cooking, reading, & show binging. The kitchen has everything that we needed for cooking & baking. We enjoyed a lot of homemade breads & soups during our stay. The two living areas are very comfortable & cozy, & we watched football & binged our Netflix/Prime shows in both areas. The main bedroom has an extremely comfortable bed with a great view of the lake. One of the nights, we could see the Northen Lights from bed. It was amazing!We traveled to Lake Itaska to see where the Mississippi River begins (We live on the Mississippi River across from the STL area.) & to Duluth to see Lake Superior. We checked out Crosslake and Nisswa as well...love both of these towns! After our sightseeing days, we returned to the cabin & felt right at home.Renae and Matt, the owners, are fabulous & ensured that we had everything we needed before & during our stay. They were very responsive any time we texted or needed anything. We truly had a memorable experience at the cabin. Even though we stayed an extended period of time, it wasn't long enough. We are already looking for dates for our next visit!

It was the perfect cabin for my family over MEA weekend! The fall colors were perfect and the view from the cabin was stunning. It was clean and ready for us when we arrived. Great kitchen, decor, plenty of firewood, lovely fire pit and beach. The bunk beds were great for the kids too! Matt and Renae were so easy to communicate with. We can’t wait to come back again!

The house was a nice place for our family vacation. It was very nice to have the pontoon boat included in the cost. The kitchen pots and pans were plentiful. The large dining table was nice for dinners, games and puzzles. The outside space is nice too - we brought our favorite lawn game.

Cabin and property were beautiful and relaxing. It was great to have a pontoon with the rental, but would have been nice to have an anchor on the pontoon to make swimming easier. The beds were comfortable, but the bunk beds had some wrappers left in them from previous people.

Very easy check-in, having the boat was great, and wifi worked well! Gas grill was nice and plenty of pots and pans for cooking. Could've used an anchor for easier swimming from the pontoon.

We loved our stay in this Beautiful cabin!Our family of five stayed the last week of July. The owners made check-in and check-out very easy. The cabin was just as the pictures show. We enjoyed a well stocked kitchen and the cleanliness of the entire house. There was enough room for all of us to spread out. The screened in porch is where we spent a lot of time for drinking our morning coffee and playing boardgames in the evening. We did a guided fishing excursion and brought the fish back to make fish tacos. We also enjoyed the pontoon boat and a couple jet skis for our older kids from Crosslake Rentals. I would definitely come back to stay and will recommend to friends and family!

Nicely designed and up north design touches in furniture and accessories. We really enjoyed the outdoor porch, the pontoon rides and the super clean lake. We visited during a very warm time of the year and our kids said the downstairs where they slept was very hot - in the high 70's. Kitchen table chairs need to be replaced. Other than those things our host was super and responded immediately to the few times we needed her attention. These owners know what they are doing and have several properties available on this lake. We would opt for a larger property next time.Tony and Mary

A Gloripus Escape!

Wonderful getaway

Beautiful Crosslake Getaway

Beautiful cabin, everything was so lovely and thoughtfully designed/decorated. We loved the wood burning fireplace, screen porch and windows facing the lake. The cabin was a great size and layout for our family of 5, and we also greatly appreciated being able to bring our dog. We heard loons every night and morning, which added to the “up north” magic. The hosts were great to work with and very fast to respond to questions. We hope to return for another family getaway in the future!

Calming Spring Escape

We had such a nice time getting away for just a couple of days with the whole family and pups. Even though there was some surprising Spring snow, we enjoyed soaking in the views and taking walks, roasting marshmallows, playing games, cooking together, reading and watching movies. The property is carefully appointed and upscale for a cabin but still super comfy. O’Brien Lake is so calm and quiet—we even got to watch a pair of swans swim around all afternoon one day. We will definitely be back and highly recommend.

Beautiful Cabin With Charm Around Every Corner

Our group of 7 had the best time here. The cabin was absolutely lovely. We especially loved the fireplace, gorgeous views & Sonos speaker system. All of the beds are comfy. We saw a fox running across the frozen lake, swans, various rare water birds, turkeys, deer & an unusually large number of melanistic (black) squirrels. The kitchen was well stocked. The space is set up so thoughtfully & the attention to detail was noticed. Its warm & inviting. Communication with our hosts was easy & responses always came immediately. This definitely was our best VRBO experience uet.

Family getaway

Enjoyed a cozy, peaceful getaway. Perfect spot if you’re needing to get out of town and reset. From the wood burning fire place, the spa like showers and the tranquil nature surroundings, this cabin is a must. Communication with property manager was excellent and the cabin was very clean.
