Possibly the best Venice apartment we've rented over 20+ years
Federica's apartment is just about perfect: It was lovingly restored not too many years ago, and it reflects the excellent taste of its owner (Federica), who grew up in Cannaregio but has lived, worked, and traveled around the world.
Although the surrounding district is busy, the apartment itself is at the junction of two quiet neighborhood streets. The location couldn't be better if you like good food: Our favorite Venetian take-out pizza place, Arte della Pizza, is just up the street, and the stunningly restored Despar Teatro Italia supermarket (which has the best bread in Venice) is about two minutes away.
Best of all, Federica herself is a delight, both as a landlady and as a human being. We can't recommend this apartment--or Federica--highly enough: We stayed 23 nights and were sad when it was time to leave.
A few specific things that we liked about Ca' Risorta:
- The kitchen is better equipped than most. That was a real plus for us, since we like to cook and eat in whenever possible.
- The bathroom is small but functional, with plenty of hot water and lots of storage space.
- The large bed is comfortable, with a memory foam mattress.
- The stairway leading up to the apartment is easy to negotiate with suitcases and shopping bags.
- The clothes washer has a built-in drying function, although we preferred to simply use it as a washer and hang our barely damp extracted clothes on the generous drying rack above the landing in the hallway (which is accessible via a flight of wooden stairs).
- I measured fiber-optic Internet speeds of 300+ Mbps when I used my phone and laptop with the Wi-Fi router.
- The building is extremely quiet. It's on the top floor, so you won't hear footsteps, and the only neighbor in the building is a priest who isn't into partying.
Bottom line: If you're searching for a pleasant, conveniently located short-term rental with a delightful landlady, Ca' Risorta should be at the top of your shortlist.
