Our stay was great. I loved the staff. If it wasn’t for the staff I wouldn’t return. We made some long lasting friendships. They are the sweetest & will go above & beyond to help.Pros: the staff - fabulous. The pool & patio amazing. We spent most of our time there. If you are coming to Jamaica to relax this is the place for you. You will be treated like royalty. We ate fresh fish & lobster right from a fisherman from beach next door. It was delicious. My son loved the jerk chicken. It was so nice to be taken care of from the staff. Cons: it was about a 30 minute drive to go anywhere. The mileage looks close to town but the traffic is crazy. If you plan on being active & go to lots of places (shopping, beaches, Dunn, Falls, mystic etc) it takes time & money to pay a driver. They recommend Bunny for a driver & he is great. The host was kind but had many requests. We were told how much to tip the staff. I always thought tipping depends on service. Staff kept turning off the air and then after much conversation I think the host watches numbers daily about the air. If you like to use air this is not the place for you. The ocean breeze is amazing but my husband likes air during the hot days. We felt guilty using air. The hot water is sparse. This was ok for me because I take quick showers. Needs updating especially microwaveIf you are a vegetarian no fish not many options. Canned Ackee, greens & veggies is it. Overall excellent for relaxing and staff 10 plus stars

My wife and I came down in February with another couple and had an absolutely incredible stay here. The pictures don’t do this place justice, it’s beautiful and the location is perfect. But the real highlight of our stay was the staff… Latoya, Kayson and Garfield were the absolute best!! Took us about 20 minutes to become best friends with them. And the food was just amazing. I can’t recommend this place enough - it’s like living in your own private boutique hotel. We’ve been to Jamaica several times previously, and usually stay at resorts, which is great, but once you’ve stayed here you’ll never do a resort again. This is the true Jamaican experience and it’s really something quite special. 10/10 no notes…

This location and the staff are everything. The snorkeling is less than 100 steps away and STUNNING! Not a sea urchin in site! We loved being able to snorkel every day so easily. Latoya, Isis and Garfield were so friendly and accommodating. Be prepared to do stairs, this is a multi-level home (it’s on a cliff, so that makes sense). The property is very secure and has solar (which I love!). The only complaints were water pressure, little hot water, and beds/linens could use updating. Everything else was incredible and I would definitely recommend this home to friends!

Our 1.5 wk stay at Sapphire Reef was fantastic. The house & amenities are exactly as described & pictured on VRBO.Having 4 BRs, each with a bath, was perfect for 2 families (4 adults/3 teens). The kids loved the pool & outside family room with JBL Bluetooth system & bath #5. The staff is what makes this villa amazing. The chef Mark spent hours on each meal. Day1 we created menus for each day & Mark shopped & cooked daily breakfast & dinners. The local Jamaican dishes were fantastic. Mark also made the kids special breakfasts. Latoya took care of the house & Garfield the pool & grounds. Our driver Bunny was great. There is no need for a car. Bunny makes it easy.As divers, we spent a lot of time snorkeling. The protected marine sanctuary directly out back is full of fish, corals & inverts, starting at their pier & extending out to the reef break that keeps this water calm. We rented kayaks/SUPs & Marley Beach (aka: East Beach Club) is very close with an easy walk or paddle for VBall, lunch, drinks or R&R. Scuba diving was surprisingly good. Communication was easy & the doc was helpful. Host provides a list of THEIR drivers with WhatsApp #'s. We used Turner to/from airport & 'Bunny' for all daily trips. We arrived 3 wks after the hurricane, which largely spared this beautiful property. Solar system provided backup comfort with the island’s grid & internet in & out. This house is clean & well kept by the staff. We highly recommend this villa.

The property is beautiful with a vintage flair. Waking up to the gorgeous sunrise where the sun meets the sky is calming to the soul and spectacular. The staff there are exceptional, kind and friendly. They are very very hard workers. They never say no to any requests instead they go above and beyond. We would love if this were our daily life. It’s a true paradise.

Wonderful week away in a beautiful spot

Thank you for a fabulous week away from the three feet of Toronto snow! We stayed at Sapphire Reef Villa with our 3 adult kids and our son's girlfriend. What a great villa, you could easily spend the whole week without leaving the property at all. The pool was wonderful and a perfect size to lounge by and play pool games. The snorkeling was amazing right off the jetty, we saw tons of pretty fish, starfish, rays, and swam out to the reef as well, we spent a lot of hours in the ocean. The villa itself was perfect for our group with enough spaces to be alone in and very nice gathering areas. We were utterly spoiled by the fabulous staff who really went out of their way to help us and make us feel at home. Mark made the best meals every day, we miss you! He made a special trip to the market to get ackee so we could have the traditional ackee and salt fish breakfast, yum! Latoya took great care of us, everything was spotless all the time, she got us beach towels for excursions and even walked us over to Marley Beach where we had lunch (recommend this!). She was so fun and pleasant. Garfield made the grounds and pool spotless every day and kept a close eye on my kids when they snorkeled out a bit too far. They were all such nice people, we enjoyed lots of great conversations with them. Sandra was quick to respond to any questions and gave us some great recommendations. Special mention to Bunny the driver, he was great! Don't hesitate to book here, it was fabulous!

Experience of a lifetime

This was a amazing trip, we experienced the culture of Jamaica with love!!! Our Chef Mark created dishes from heaven that tasted like a five star restaurant meals, Ms Latoya made sure we had all of the essentials we needed, and Garfield is the groundskeeper who will take care of the villa, also he will take you want to go snorkeling. We had an amazing time and will return to this exact villa!!

Great time in Jamaica

We had a wonderful time at this unique property. Location on the coast was beautiful - very private with our own pool and access to the ocean. Were able to snorkel out to the reefs but even staying close to the shore you can see some sealife. Property itself was great with panoramic views. Staff were great and spoiled us - delicious meals by chef, explained in great detail. We rented a minivan and did a lot of sightseeing (DunnRiver Falls, Blue Mountain coffee plantation, Worthy Rum Plantation, Green Grotto, Rose Hall). Felt very safe the whole time

A Fabulous Week

Our week in Jamaica was amazing. We traveled with 2 adult children and their spouses, my mom and sister-in-law. It was a perfect set-up for everyone, so nice every bedroom had their own bathroom. The staff was beyond excellent. Chef Mark was a pleasure work with. His ideas for evening meals and breakfasts were perfect and tasted amazing. We all loved the Jamaican authentic breakfasts, and of course jerk chicken and jerk pork meals were outstanding as well as the fish and shrimp. Latoya was so friendly and helpful with anything we needed, answered all of our questions and was so pleasant to talk with. Jamien was excellent to work with as well. He was able to arrange transportation whenever we needed it, helped us rent a boat and kept an eye on us. You can't go wrong with this property and staff. I loved all the plants in the house. The outside areas are perfect. You can be outside all day long, even if it rains. The neighborhood bar we went to was lovely and a 2 minute walk. When arriving in Montego Bay the line getting to customs is quite long but seems to go pretty fast. I'm not sure how but several groups had a sign waiting for them and they were able to bypass the long line. It sounded like they had to catch another flight. Wondering if there is a quick flight from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios. I would try to arrive in Montego Bay as early as possible to get to the property by 4 p.m.

Amazing Villa

Where do I begin describing our amazing stay in this villa? We six friends woke each morning to coffee as we drank in the beautiful and expansive ocean views. Some days we took in the adventures of the island on boat rides, at the Blue Hole, river tubing, touring botanical gardens or Rastafarian Village. Others we stayed at the villa, enjoying the pool, reading, having massages, snorkeling along the reef. At night we slept long and peacefully on the very comfortable beds. But the most amazing part of this villa was the incredible staff. Mark (the chef) not only prepared delicious meals at the times we requested, but was able to accommodate all our special needs (with one vegan, one who ate no beef, one who ate no fish) as though it was no problem at all. Latoya (the housekeeper) not only kept the villa spotless doing usual housekeeping chores, but also arranged for our massages and became a true friend as she conversed with us about families and life in general. Jamian (the groundskeeper) was so much more than a gardener, which he did beautifully. He also arranged for a dive master and boat to accompany us to the reef, and for our tour on a glass bottomed boat. All three did their jobs emitting true joy, there when wanted, but totally unobtrusive when appropriate. I should add that we were a group of six women in our sixties and seventies, a couple with limitations that come with age. This in no way stopped all of us from thoroughly enjoying this amazing Villa.

Pure Bliss!!!

What an amazing vacation we had, thanks to you & your staff!! Mark was a fantastic chef & made so many delicious meals for us. He prepared some local Jamaican meals for us & we really enjoyed them. All of his meals were fantastic! We really enjoyed our trips to the local market with him, so fun! Latoya was just the sweetest soul & made sure we didn't have to lift a finger the entire 2 weeks. Jamieon was awesome & kept the grounds pristine, put out lounge cushions for us every morning & the pool was sparkling. We felt so safe with him watching out for us. I can't say enough about this team, they were so great & made us feel so welcome & cared for. We will definitely try to come back & stay here again!!

Christmas, & New Years 23/24

We arrived late December 21. The staff greeted us and brought in our luggage and helped us get settled. The chef had purchased "patties" for us so we had had somethinv to eat after a long day of travel. We planned a time for breakfast and then we settled in for the night. We spent most of our trip snorkeling and hanging out by the pool. The Reef out from the house was awesome. Jamien and Mark are so helpful and will answer any questions you have. They took us out for New Years and took really good care of us and found us a place that we didnt have to pay a huge cover charge to get into. Mark took us to the market shopping and he was helpful when it came to planning meals. Mark is an amazing chef. I am thinking i should go back for a week for cooking lessons ( or just to be there for another week). The only part we didnt like was the 2 hour drive to the airport, we heard there maybe a flight coming into the airport that is 15 mins away. All and all it was an amazing vacation.

A Tropical Paradise with Exceptional Synergy

Our time at the villa was nothing short of a dream come true. From the moment we arrived, we were swept away by the beauty of the location and the warmth of the staff. Chef Mark delighted us with every meal. His culinary expertise was simply outstanding. Whether it was a traditional Jamaican dish or other local favorites, Chef Mark's creations were a true feast for the senses. Working alongside him was LaToya, the villa's housekeeper, who ensured that our living space was always clean and comfortable. She approached her work with genuine care, and it was evident that she took great pride in maintaining the villa. Every time we returned to our room, we were greeted with a spotless and inviting atmosphere. LaToya's warm smile and friendly demeanor made us feel right at home throughout our stay. Completing the exceptional trio was Jamieon, the villa's dedicated groundskeeper. He anticipated our needs and was always on hand to assist with any request, no matter how big or small. His cheerful attitude and eagerness to ensure we had a fantastic time made our vacation even more enjoyable. Their seamless coordination and teamwork created a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere that made our stay truly special. Beyond the exceptional staff, Sapphire Reef Villa itself is a slice of paradise. Our experience at Sapphire Reef Villa was an unforgettable journey filled with beauty, tranquility, and outstanding hospitality.

Amazing stay

This was the perfect property for a fun and relaxing vacation for a family of 7, including 5 young adults. Chef Mark, Latoya and Jamieon made us feel like family. I miss you already!! The meals were 5 star restaurant quality and Chef Mark went out of his way to prepare special dishes for the one vegetarian in the group. We hired Marvin as our driver for the entire stay, which I recommend. We asked him to take us to the places where locals go, and we had an amazing time. If you want to experience the real Jamaica, not just sit in a resort, and receive 5 star pampering, villa life is the way to go. We are looking forward to visiting again.

Excellent villa and vacation

Sapphire Reef Villa is aptly named: the reef is truly this colour! The villa is as described by all the positive guests before us - beautifully appointed inside, very spacious and ideal for a family or 3 couples wanting privacy. The grounds and out side areas are lovely, the pool fab. It is spectacular to have small areas of reef literally right off the landing jetty - you see a wonderful array of marine life right there. This was a revelation to us. One day the wind dropped enough for lovely Jahvan to take us out across the reef, allowing us to experience a greater variety of corals. Adrian cooked us so many delicious dinners, introducing us to loads of local ingredients and quickly gauging our tastes. The mango tree at the entrance is dripping with fruit right no (March-April). Adrian also prepared breadfruit from the garden. We used Turner taxi for the airport runs but Bunny for local trips - such a hoot! We had a magnificent day in the Blue Mountains with him; plus trips to Konoko Fall and a couple of visits to Ocho Rios and the environs. The villa feels totally safe and private and we can vouch that the mosquito screens are fully effective! We were certainly aware of the road noise on and off day and night as others have mentioned, but totally worth it for the location. Sandra is really a super host - her communication throughout; the thought she has put into the house to make it comfortable - lovely soft furnishings, linens; touches like a couple of sunhats. We are very grateful for the opportunity to share her family's home for our first experience of Jamaica.

Sapphire Reef

The house is very lovely. The rooms are separated such that everyone has privacy. Once in the house the setting is exq uisite as it overlooks stairs and terracing down to the water. Beds are comfortable and linens are good quality. Seating for meals and relaxing is ample and pleasant. Jahvan manages the house. He is committed to your safety and comfort. Without his care and good advise and initiative guests would not enjoy their stay as much. The garage for the house is right on the road from the airport. Finding it and getting one’s car in and out safely requires assistance. He is right there to help. Although the house is right on the road it is very private once inside. Traffic will be heard. Adrian who is the house cook makes tasty local dishes. He will shop for you to cook as well. Stephanie takes care of housekeeping which we did not need too much. The pool has all the extras for lounging and swimming. The reef is clear and warm. Jahvan will snorkel with you but you can go out on your own. We did not see as many fish as in other experiences but saw one Ray. When cruise ships are not in harbor the main tourist adventures are within 30 minutes drive. There are 2 small beaches near by that have fees and irregular hours. Everyone in our party enjoyed this house. There were 8 of us. Aged from 9 to 80.

Wonderful Vacation!!!

This is an amazing place! The view, the pool, the snorkeling. The staff were wonderful! Excellent meals! Great communication! Exactly as presented on VRBO. If I ever get a group of 8 together again, I'll definitely look at Sapphire Villa first! A couple of tips for newcomers: Clearing at customs at Montego Bay Airport takes a while. Many shops and stores are closed on Sunday, so provision up on Saturday. Get your Jamaican Patties early. Use one of the van services the owner recommends.

Our stay at Sapphire Reef Villa

The staff are amazing people. We ate really good food, Adrian is an amazing cook. Javan is so helpful, fun to be around. He showed us where to go snorkeling and picked up a puffer fish that was real cool. He is a very thoughtful person, always checking to make sure we put on sunscreen. Stephanie was our server and housekeeper even though Troy probably drove her nuts she took good care of us. The dogs we enjoyed, they know their job. We brought them toys and treats. One thing.... getting hot water seems to be a thing here. I read in the reviews that people were running out of hot water, but never thought it would be a big issue. We'll we had none. No hot water. They did get a few service people up on the roof to fix the hot water problem and by our last night there I was able to get one hot shower. I'm sure they have it repaired now. House was nice just like the pictures. Close to the road so you hear load road noise rather than the ocean. It takes 84 steps down to the ocean, that's 84 steps back up with several landings to rest. The landscape was amazing, beautiful flowers with hummingbirds and blooming trees. Very private and safe.
