Boutique blast from the past

This hotel is iconic which is why we have stayed there 3 times. Location great. However, the bathrooms are pretty worn and tired. Plumbing fixtures leaving a lot to be desired. I wonder why they just do not spend a few bucks which would make a huge difference. It must have been a jewel in its hay day.. Management seemed accommodating.

Cold room and slippery shower.

The room was very cold. They only had space heaters, but the breaker would pop by turning on the lights or micro. Had no heat on night two. Also, I almost broke my leg in the shower. Very slippery and dangerous. If I was older, a serious injury could have happened. When I went down to tell front desk, there was no one around. All they have to do is put that traction tape in the shower to prevent a future guest getting hurt and suing the hotel.

Relatively inexpensive: Here’s why

The only person I talked to during our twi- night stay was someone behind the lobby desk, who confirmed with few words that the pile of towels and an envelope containing a sheet of rules and keys were ours. There was no maid service and there was no soap in the shower. We were told the internet was temporarily unavailable but it never came on. Our room was clean. The ancient air conditioners were as load airplanes but worked well. The dirt parking lot assured our car would show we had been to the desert.

The vibe was super chill, we had a great time, met some cool people at the pool, I’d stay here again. However, the lobby stairway carpet literally smells like pee, and our room looked NOTHING like the photos. Definitely no mid century furniture, and the carpet was ripped and stained. So, that was disappointing.

If very laid-back mid-century modern hotel. The amenities are fine, an old fashioned bar, the staff is friendly and accommodating - and dinner was exceptional.

The Palms at Indian Head

VERY nice experience. Sorta retro with that loungey late 50s early 60s feel. Decor and condition match. It was very quaint and affordable. On the edge of town right near the park, not too much activity on the day we were there, a Monday. Very few people. Nice looking pool and adjacent hot tub which I didn’t have time to use. Would like to try the little restaurant and bar but they weren’t open during the short time I was there. If staying in Borrego Springs I would definitely recommend checking it out.

This property is a historic hotel with lots of character. We had a very pleasant room on the upper floor, facing the pool. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, with useful amenities like coffee maker and refrigerator. Some things were a little quirky, like the sliding glass doors, but that has to be expected in a historic place. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a nice dinner in the restaurant, good food and very friendly staff. The location is great, outside of the town and immediately next to the state park.

While waiting,we noticed the majority of guests walk in and smell the mold right away. Every aspect of our stay was disappointing. There's generally no one at the front desk to help you, . You also have to count on spending some time battling insects in the room, they're all over. In our unit, there was mold evident in the bathroom and cabinets. Unfortunately, we spoke to property owner, who is just looking for any outlet to express anger and conflict, and even got worse. Once you show up in person at this hotel, you will get a sinking feeling throughout the vibe at this hotel. The location is great though for hiking Palm Canyon trail and the housekeepers were very pleasant. We've got photos attached of this hotel.

Absolutely nobody is manning the reception desk. Internet did not work. Bright light in the room with sunrise, with no effective curtains to block it. Stay away.

Deluxe Valley View!

Love the view from the deluxe valley-view rooms. Hotel has one of the best restaurants in the area, bar with happy hour daily, recommend reservations this time of year. Convenient to state park, nice hiking on washes behind the hotel. We planned this trip several months ago, and lucked out to have been here during this year's wonderful wildflower bloom (some call it a superbloom, a few folks thought it was better than 2017's official superbloom). Fridge, microwave, coffee maker made it convenient to bring our own stuff to have breakfast in room with the gorgeous view (even though they give a $10/person voucher for breakfast at the Red Ocotillo, we enjoyed relaxing in the room a few mornings when we had early meetings for hiking activities with ABF and ABDNHA. Only 5 minute drive to Christmas Circle area for restaurants and activities.

This place should be closed down. There are violations everywhere. Mats being held down with rocks, open light bulbs, tares in the carpet three feet long ( this carpet is from the 80’s),mattress only, no box spring, cold water faucet does not shut off until you find the “magic “ spot, our room door was a sliding glass door, how’s that for security?!
