Our New Favorite Spot by the Coast

We had a wonderful stay at Spare Time beach house. The location was perfect—right across the street from the ocean with an incredible, unobstructed view of the Pacific. We could hear the waves from inside the house, which made the whole experience feel so peaceful and relaxing.The house itself was spotless and thoughtfully set up with everything we needed. It’s updated with modern touches but still feels warm and inviting. The kitchen was fully stocked—we cooked two meals and didn’t find ourselves missing anything. And the hot tub was the perfect way to unwind after a day of hiking or exploring—nothing beats sitting in it while listening to the ocean.Cari was amazing—very responsive, clear, and helpful throughout the whole process. Check-in and check-out were seamless, and communication was smooth from start to finish.We come to Bodega Bay once or twice a year to escape the heat and soak in the trails, beaches, and great food. This has definitely become one of our favorite vacation rentals, and we’ll absolutely try to stay here again!

A perfect stay

Loved it! The house has the perfect mix of casual beach vibes with excellent amenities. Everything you need is here, and is in good shape. Beds and couches are comfy and clean.Wasn't sure if being right on the hwy would be too noisy, but you don't notice it when you're inside and the ocean view is sooo worth the slow roll of cars.We especially appreciated how dogs are not only allowed, but approved of, and really added to the pleasure of having our two dogs with us. The fenced rear yard was secure enough to feel ok having them out there.

Best place to stay in Bodega Bay

This was our 2nd time staying at Spare Time with our 2 big dogs. The house has every amenity you could ask for! It has the perfect location with amazing ocean views, plus you are a short drive from lots of great food options. Cari is an amazing host. Great communication and zero issues with our stays. We love coming to Spare Time and will only consider staying there when we go to BB.

Breathe, Relax, Play!

Cari’s home is clean, comfortable, warm, and has MANY perks. The views of the ocean from the front windows are incredible! We went to the tide pools across the street and found starfish, crabs, mussels, hermit crabs, little fish, a clam worm and so much more! Be aware that the path down is steep in places, but worth it. Over at Bodega Bay harbor, we had the good fortune of seeing an elusive weasel TWICE! We flew kites at Bodega Head, hiked, watched for whales, and enjoyed the sunset. Being in the hot tub after a day of hiking and tide-pooling was so pleasant. Cari is quick to respond to any questions and ensures your stay will be all that you need it to be. FYI: The Tides restaurant is NOT what it used to be.

Wonderful place to stay, will come back definitely

My wife and I stayed here along with our corgi and 2 month old son. This place was beautiful, and had everything that we needed during our stay. The location was so convenient, and seeing the view from the property was priceless. Cari had great communication throughout our stay. We will definitely come back here in the future when we have any spare time :)

Unmatched Views in a Super Cozy Home

This lovely house on the beach, cleverly called "Spare Time", did not disappoint! My travel party of three humans and two small dogs, thoroughly enjoyed our stay - so much that we extended it one extra night (at the very kind offer of Cari)! Lots of thought went into making this house feel so comfortable. We especially appreciated...the fireplace - keeps the house so warm, which we enjoyed as it was cold & windy during our stay; excellent water pressure in the shower; home is well-insulated and quiet; loved the dining table and chairs - very comfortable for meals (and puzzles!); backyard is large and perfect for pups to explore in a safe, enclosed area; fabulous new dishwasher; great coffeemaker (same one I have at home!); espresso machine was also an added bonus as coffee lovers; streaming options on the smart TV were excellent. And of course, the many windows are the absolute BEST part to take in that incredible view of the ocean, right outside your door. We didn't get to use the deck much due to weather, but hope to on a future visit.The only issue we had during our stay was the outside hanging lights didn't work, but Cari was quick to help us try and fix over the phone. While we got them to come on briefly - unfortunately, due to the rain, the outdoor outlet kept shorting out (as it should, of course, for safety!). Cari was apologetic and understanding of our disappointment, and said she'd be fixing it soon. Can't wait to stay here again - it's a beautiful place!

Great Getaway

We had an amazing time at this beautiful property. The house has a nice cozy feeling and all of the amenities we could ask for. The location was perfect for enjoying the rugged coastline and taking in picturesque sunsets. We took our dogs to explore Doran Beach, Wright's Beach, and Russian Gulch and they had the time of their lives. My wife and I loved checking out the shops and restaurants as well, all located just a short drive from the property. We are already looking forward to planning another trip and this will be at the top of our list!

Mini Vacay

Always nice to have Spare time for a few days! The space is welcoming and views are gorgeous. We had a day and a half of sunny weather which was welcome. Luckily the house stays nice and cozy with the heater and fireplace during the atmospheric river events.

Fantastic Beach View!

Spare Time Beach House is fabulous and perfect! Cari provides every amenity you can possibly want -- and then some! Fantastic views, close to everything and yet very quiet and peaceful. I can't wait to go back!

Terrific spot on the coast

Cari's house is better than advertised. we enjoyed the fireplace in the evenings, as well as the hot tub. Kitchen is well provisioned and we used the BBQ in the back yard. We also did take out a few nights as the town of bodega bay is just a few miles down the road. Sitting on the huge deck was epic and we were able to bring our dog. thanks again.

Ultimate Getaway ! Great for dogs and family !

Beautiful upgrades in the home making it a delight to stay in and relax. Large backyard, side deck with hi top fire pit table, front deck with Big Blue Chair and loungers. Layout of the home gives the feel of space so you and your guest don’t feel cramped. Lots of places to relax on property with view of the ocean. Our stay was comfortable & restful. We felt very spoiled, host was friendly and responsive. Would make a point to book again. Very Dog friendly!

Lovely - quiet and comfortable

I have to start off by stating how impressed I was with Cari, the host. It doesn’t get any better as far as hosts go!!! From day our day-one decision on where to eat when we got into town to local bakeries and sites to see, Cari was more than helpful. Her insights and recommendations shaped our week in the best way. She helps Spare Time guests have the best experience possible. The location is perfect for a low-key getaway. My wife, two daughters and I found the location to be perfect. We loved the short walk across the road to the beach/ state park where it was fun to take sunset pictures with the kids and soak up the warm sun midday and early afternoon. The drive along the shore as well as the Russian River was awesome as was the ability to take short day trips to Napa and then enjoy wine on the deck in the evenings! Cari has a very well appointed kitchen for preparing meals which we did several days. We grilled steaks one nights and burgers another and enjoyed loads of fresh oysters. Bodega bay has excellent pizza at Huria’s and coffee at Roadhouse. We found wine and food to be excellent at both Gourmet au Bay and Terrapin Creek. Lunch is a must one day at Spud point for crab sandwiches. The day hikes at Shell Beach one day and Bodega Head another were ideal for us - beautiful views and weather with wildlife highlights (whales, seals, and sea lions to name a few). The accommodations are top notch; local amenities are lovely. We’ll be back!!
