"This is the second time we've stayed at the Mason Freehouse, it was lovely the first time we stayed, which made us keen to return. Although it is now under new management, it's clear that the lovely, friendly, warm welcoming atmosphere is something the staff are keen to retain. We're looking forward to coming back and staying again, as the plans for new menus sound fantastic. Room sizes and facilities are very adequate for a short stay. "Generally very good stay. Landlady made me feel at home and lent me a parking disc which gave me free parking until 10.00am the next morning. Very nice cooked breakfast with cereal and proper coffee. Only small issue was that the curtains let in more street lamp light than I'm used to. Blackout curtains would have been ideal."

"We were walking The Dales Way and arrived on a very wet Sunday afternoon. The staff at the pub were extremely welcoming and reserved us a table for dinner. The shepherds hut was lovely and cosy (underfloor heating), exactly what we needed after a long wet walk! The breakfast hamper was very welcome too."
