What can we say, mmmmmm what a break.

What can we say, mmmmmm what a break. Remote, peaceful, idyllic and easier to cram all these words into 1 'BRILLIANT '!!!!!!. Everything described in the brochure and more. Much mentioned in other reviews about country lane accessibility, it is what is a country track. The track was undergoing face lift whilst we we're staying there, we coped easily. We found that the main complaint for this stay and many more holiday makers is that we didn't plan long enough and with the cottages popularity were unable to extend our stay longer. A great cottage to explore the local area, so many walks to do with our dogs just a stones throw away. The cottage is remote by car but the village is a very short walk over a bridge and you are pretty much there. The track to the cottage is a bit dodgy for the average hatchback, just take it slowly! We had a wonderful week at this cottage.

We had a wonderful week at this cottage. Had everything we needed and was quiet and private. Lots of lovely walks nearby and village has shop, cafe and pubs so we didn’t need to use the car all week. Track down to the cottage is a bit of a squeeze but was absolutely fine for our Golf. Highly recommended! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We had a lovely stay.

We had a lovely stay. Owners were very pleasant, the cottage was really nice with a welcoming fire lit for when we arrived. The area is ideal for us as we brought our dog (Joey) whom loves to walk miles every day. There are two pubs in the village, both were very friendly and accommodating. We'd like to visit again. Lovely cosy cottage in a great location for beautiful walks. With a large car the driveway to the cottage was tight in places, we certainly wouldn’t have wanted to do it in the dark. That said it wouldn’t put us off going to the cottage again. Heckberry is well equipped with stunning views and lovely walks right from the door. The owners (and horses!) were very welcoming and it was lovely to arrive to an open fire and welcome pack. We had a great stay and would certainly recommend. We absolutely loved this little cottage.

We absolutely loved this little cottage. For us the surroundings were perfect. Fabulous walks from the doorstep and wonderful wildlife. Close to the village, 2 pubs great for food and drinks after a day’s walking. The cottage was cosy and comfortable and we would definitely return. Very friendly helpful owners too. The River Wear runs at the bottom of the track and there are many footpaths along the river banks and over the fields around the house- absolute bliss for our pair of dogs.
