"Stayed in a single budget room which was clean and comfortable. The staff and owner make you feel very welcome. Good breakfast and well stocked bar - nice pint of Guiness. No complaints and great value. Pay and display car park a stones throw at £3 for 24 hours. No food in the evenings but would recommend the Dolphin chippy down the hill. Made a pleasant change from the corporate hotel chains."

"Have been wanting to stay here for years and it was well worth the wait. We were welcomed by Christina who made us feel at home and showed us to our room (Ward's Stone) which was immaculate, spacious and has a large bathroom with rainfall shower. The pub was busy (it's obviously popular with locals, a good sign) but there's lots of places to sit so that wasn't a problem. We had a few drinks and had supper that evening. Downham is an outstanding location and very picturesque - it’s lovely and peaceful. Breakfast was delicious, as was dinner in the restaurant. Absolutely recommend and we hope to return! "

"Everything this is the second time that ive stayed. Ended up staying for 6 night as got hime to a leaked pipes in my flat. Very accommodating in getting me back in there. Excellent staff overall and made me feel like one of the family. Just booked for next weekend "

"Josie was very friendly and welcoming. Very attentive and couldnt do enough. We were offered a much needed hot drink on arrival which was brought to our room. Our room was very clean, more than enough tea, coffee etc, it even had dressing gowns. Little touches of Usb points on plugs and even a little chocolate each. We felt veey welcomed."
