Bird Lodge Tipi at Stepping Stone

  • Facing east towards the Swan Mountains on twenty beautiful, rolling acres are three tipis available for those looking for a more down-to-earth experience. Under the night sky, you can relax and enjoy the wonder of being/sleeping in an ancient conical structure. This experience is fully out of doors — no power, water, or heat/AC. It is advised to bring a flashlight or lantern.

    BIRD LODGE tipi has TWO TWIN BEDS; additional guests can bring camping mats & sleeping bags. The bathroom (toilet/sink) is located in the glassblowing studio. An outdoor solar shower is located between the tipis and the studio. Towels and bed linens are provided.

    Feel free to stop by the studio and check out the latest from the Proctor Studios team.

    DIRECTIONS:
    From Hwy 35 at Saint John Paul Catholic Church, it's the fourth driveway on your left immediately after Rising Mountain Assisted Living. Apple & Google Maps may direct you too far down Coverdell Road — look for the large, sculptural metal mailbox and gravel driveway. Please drive slowly as there are nesting birds in the grass and gravel along the road, as well as a small dog who doesn't navigate well around moving vehicles.

    PARKING:
    Park along the sides of the driveway near the studio. Driving up to the tipis is not permitted.

    ENVIRONMENT:
    If you are squeamish about insects, expect a hotel-style bathroom, or are uncomfortable with possible varied weather conditions, this destination is probably not for you.

    PETS:
    Well-behaved dogs are welcome; please notify us in advance.

Beautiful quiet, peaceful property. Was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Almost 0 mosquitoes, only a few minor bugs Lee, the owner is very friendly and helpful. It was a great stay, would do it again!

It was a great experience. It was a real teepee. If you are looking for hotel type amenities this is not the place. Three things know. Take a flashlight for those midnight bathroom trips. Charge your phone before you go. And expect a unique experience.

This was an excellent quiet getaway that added to our Glacier experience. It was so peaceful and nice to sit out and watch the deer play with the mountains as a backdrop.

Great experience. It is a tipi, and there were some bugs. Our Granddaughters loved it, it was the best part of their trip they said. We stayed 2 nights.Lee is a very gracious, kind, and interesting man. A beautiful setting!

Staying in a tipi was a rare and fun experience. The host was more than kind and welcoming and though the accommodations were rustic, that was what added to the charm. It was a delightful stay in a quiet safe area.

Communication was terrible.. the owner/manager/ person in charge told us they would text us when the TiPi was ready... we never got a text. Drove back to the property and he was mowing his lawn in his backyard and told us it was ready. Never showed us which one it was just pointed in the general direction. The field was grown over our knees with no paths to any of the tipis. Still no pads to the outdoor shower or the toilet which was in it big steel building filled with machines and metal lathes and saws.. truly an accident waiting to happen. No lights anywhere one Outlet in the restroom with about seven things plugged into it. The TiPi had grass inside it to our knees all the way around... we expected some bugs and mosquitoes but this was off the charts... due to the neglect of the problem. We literally stayed for an hour and left and went to the Travelodge down the street. We had booked three nights didn't even stay one and he would not refund anything! Highly recommend you look elsewhere for a place to stay. This guy is just trying to make a couple Bucks off a couple folks that want to stay in a TiPi... has no intentions of trying to make it a pleasant experience!

It was rustic as advertised. The cots were comfy but more importantly the setting was magical. The stars came out and took our breath away, the backdrop of the tipis was awesome! Would love to stay again!

Family National Park Tour

The tipis were a fun experience to add to our National Park adventures! Lee was an amzing host, very accomodating to our needs. Bigfork is a cool place to visit and hang out as well.

Gorgeous spot!

Close to town! Great host! Lee was beyond accommodating! We met the property cat, I think his name was Kit. We stayed in the teepee & it was so much fun! Loved the experience! The location was quiet & beautiful view! Would definitely recommend!

A very out in nature experence. Our 2 grandchildren, 10 & 15 loved sleeping in a tipi, but it's not for those who don't like bugs or need to shower every day. Bring a flaslight, t's a dark walk to the bathroom. It was exactly what was expected at that price. So glad we we had this experience with our grandchildren!

Novel way to camp. Beds and linens provided. Bathroom and wash up sink. Didn’t take showers— don’t remember if listed. Didn’t see one. Stayed warm and dry in spite of thunder showers and wind. Would do again.

Great stay. Lee was very friendly and showed us around the property before leaving us to get settled. What I was looking for in the listing: there is a bathroom with a toilet and sink in the glass blowing shop next to the tipis. There is also an outdoor shower. Was great to relax and look at the Montana mountains, but he wasn’t kidding about bugs (and a snake in the shower!). Bonus points for the kitty in the studio :)

Es gab kein Tipi. Die Unterkunft war bereits von anderen gebucht. Ohne den Besitzer, der mir sein Gasthouse gab, hätte ich auf derStrasse gestanden! Wie kann das passieren! Ich habe diese Unterkunft extra wegen dem Tipi gebucht! Alles schief gelaufen! Expedia, Ihr habt das Gekd nicht verdient!
