It could use a good clean and some basic amenities like cooking oil or storage containers for food leftovers. The hot tub was also in rough condition and a bit dirty and the photos were not representative of the property. The carpet in the bathroom was a little gross as well.

Loved this house it was a short drive from the slopes, but not an issue. House was really comfortable, beds were great and it was well equipped. Only issue we had were the frying pans, they need to be replaced as the nonstick is peeling and they were very scratched. We would definitely stay here again.

Tanglewood is in a wonderful location, beautifully nestled in the woods and offering privacy and respite from the everyday hustle and bustle. The property is cozy and functioned well for our small family and dog, but could also accommodate a much larger group. After an initial issue with the hot tub not working, the hosts were quick to respond and fix it and were available and highly communicative throughout our stay. The hot tub and wood burning fireplace (bring your own wood) really add to the coziness of the home. While this is a dog friendly property and we brought our medium sized dog, there was not a properly enclosed space where we felt comfortable letting our dog roam around by herself (there was a dog-run on the side but our dog could easily jump it and/or wiggle out of the gaps), so be prepared to monitor your pets outdoors. As other reviewers have mentioned, the property could use some modernizing, especially in the kitchen, and some of the window coverings were non-functional. None of these majorly detracted from the comfort of our stay but I do think you are largely paying for location, privacy, and size rather than interior luxury.

The property has not been maintained. The refrigerator is falling apart, etc. We had to clean the barbecue and outside furniture and deck.The inside was clean except for spots on the sofa.

Fine as a home base

This home is probably best suited for larger, younger groups that have day long activities planned. I don't want to be overly critical since the booking was poor research on my part for a quick off-season getaway. That said, the kitchen is outdated, meaning hard to cook in, but the essentials are there. The rest of the home is well appointed and comfortable. My major complaint would be the posted cover photo for this property, which suggests a usable flat deck and sauna. It is not. Admittedly, a sauna is not listed as an amenity, but to have it included in the cover photo is deceiving for something in such disrepair and unsafe, in my opinion.

Big Bear Spring Getaway

This home/cabin is located in a beautiful quiet neighborhood and was a great place to stay during our visit to Big Bear. My kids (9 & 12) especially loved the foosball & pingpong tables and playing cornhole out on the deck.The beds were comfy and we had everything we needed. My only suggestion would be updating the fridge, the drawers were difficult to open/close since a piece seemed to be missing and the door shelving was missing parts. The freezer had no container for emptying the ice cubes into from the tray.All in all we would recommend this location.

Cozy and Convenient

This cabin home was incredibly cozy and had all of the necessities for a weekend getaway. Though its less than 10 minutes from hikes and grocery stores, it feels much more remote. The highlights were the back yard view and many species of birds present there, high ceilings, large patio dining table, and access to town.

Great snow cabin

Fair price for excellent quality cabin. We can an awesome time. View was pretty, hot tub was great after skiing, we played ping pong and foosball. Nothing but good things to say about Avantstay properties including this one.

Thanksgiving away from home

The location was fantastic and the house was cozy with great views. The beds were really comfortable and the kitchen was really well equipped with functional appliances. They left a disposable roasting pan and baster, which was a nice touch for Thanksgiving guests. The bathrooms and kitchen are not newly renovated, but everything worked and was clean. We had a wonderful vacation. As a side note: the owners should get a new can opener.

Review

Very nice house in a very nice neighborhood. It was clean, easy to get to and easy to access at entry time. Amenities were clean and organized. The house/property has a lot to offer and many fun things to do near the house. 10/10 stay.

Great location…could have been cleaner

The location and property itself was great. However, couches were badly stained that we had to cover them with the extra sheets. The worst was that we found what appeared to be a pubic hair on the sheets in one of the bedrooms, which makes you question if the sheets are cleaned after each visit. There were also cob webs around that could easily have been reached by a quick dusting.

Beautiful view and spacious home

Great location just outside of Big Bear. Amazing deck with a very private view of the hills/trees. We loved the Hot Tub at night. The acorns were falling off the trees and we collected many to take with us. Large home with lots of room for additional guest. Home does not have AC but we had nice Fall weather so was not an issue.

Wonderful location

Perfect layout, primary upstairs, 2 bedrooms downstairs. Jacuzzi was clean, large dining room table / chairs. Kitchen was functional and plenty of plate and silverware, Coffee maker was a 12 cup - great! They provided coffee, full complement of spices. Lovely trees surrounded the property. Wasn't completely dog enclosed, we had a small 12 lb pup that could have slipped through some spaces. Fun ping pong but only one ball! There were some rodent droppings outside on the Avant cooler, I removed them and nothing ever returned. Cleaning service should review the exterior deck spaces as well when cleaning. Overall though, it was a lovely property and we enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful home in the hills

Wonderful house and a great location. Loved the hot tub and plenty of room for everyone. We had some WiFi and TV issues but someone came right out to fix the issues. Wish there had been some wine or champagne glasses but otherwise we had all we needed. A perfect getaway!

Great family vacation

This property is the perfect combination of feeling both rustic and modern. It has everything you need, i.e., WiFi, jacuzzi, functional kitchen, plenty of space and tables and seating and comfortable furniture, and is close to town, but is also surrounded by lovely large trees and wildlife.

Everything we needed and wanted in a Big Bear Stay

This rental was great! Well located in a classy neighborhood with canyon and mountain views. The house was comfortable with a cozy feel but spacious. The living room had comfortable seating and enough for everyone in our party of 6, which was important to us. It was nice to have the option of a family meal outside on the deck or inside, and we appreciated that the hot tub was upstairs on the deck so it was easy access and could still socialize with friends who chose not to go in it. Would stay again!

Perfect location for family’s

The listing was pretty spot on. We really enjoyed the house and had plenty of room for the family, including our dog. We really enjoyed the jacuzzi and the amazing views. We would stay here again for sure.
