The place was great overall — bright, fresh and lots of beds. The location is good with the public beach entrance right at the bottom of the road. I had been a bit concerned about the proximity to Red Arrow Highway and the restaurant, but the sound was not an issue and being able to put our name on the waitlist and pop back into the backyard was a plus.
The newly remodeled kitchen had lots of good stuff (regular and Keurig coffee makers) but was lacking some things we’d expect — ice cube trays (no ice maker), regular spoons (only teaspoons), can opener, colander and cookie sheet. The last two are nice to have but first three should be there, though not a huge inconvenience. The other odd thing was the box spring in the master that was so noisy that it would wake us both up when we moved at night (never experienced before). After the first night we put the mattress on the floor.
The backyard had a good grill but is shared with three other properties though it was not an issue during our stay.
As I said, these are pretty minor but the difference between a 4-star and a 5-star property. Regardless, we’d happily stay here again — we’ve been coming to Union Pier for over a decade and have stayed in over a dozen spots.
