Private and relaxing
My wife and I wanted a quiet place in the woods all to ourselves, and Moon Shadow Lodge was ideal. The lodge made us feel like we were in a treehouse in the forest canopy, and we enjoyed sitting on the deck watching all the birds and looking out over the lake. We also enjoyed hiking on the nearby Turtle Trail where we saw some turtles. We kayaked on the lake, went swimming, took naps in our hammock, watched movies on the big couch in the living room, played pool in the downstairs game room, and soaked in the jacuzzi tub upstairs. Everything was wonderful!

Wow!
This place is amazing! Coffee on that deck overlooking the lake just hits differently. Everything you need. Kids loved it. They enjoyed the lake and outdoors during the day and had the whole downstairs to relax at night. Very nice place!

Amazing place overall
This place is wonderful! This cabin itself is beautiful. We enjoyed the game room and spent every night playing games with a fire burning in the fireplace. Mornings on the deck with coffee were nice too. There is a great view. It's a relatively easy walk to the water but it is not just a simple walk out the back door. Bring your own fishing poles. We forgot to grab ours and were sad about it. The roads coming in are not for the inexperienced. You want to come in when it's daylight and pay attention to the signs! My only real gripe is about the hot tub. It's a garden tub with jets in the upstairs bathroom. I was told it fills with filtered well water but still had a yellow tint from some mineral left over. I was okay with that but I was not okay with the dirt floating around. I would check your water for dirt before getting in. We'd definitely come back, just no baths next time!

Mountain Lake Home Getaway
This cabin is an awesome getaway at the bottom of a hillside forest. Switchback roads required to get in, but we had two two wheel drive vehicles handle it with no issue. One a Cadillac car. Between the basement game room, canoes, walks up the mountain and along the shore, October playoff baseball, campfire, and good food we planned and bought before getting there- we never left. Dugan was super responsive. House is great. Bathrooms and big walk in showers are great, with blow up mattresses this house could sleep 20. I’m sure this is a Great Lake house in the summer with the water just yards away.

Amazing 3 story cabin on private cove with trails and everything you could dream of !!!
The owner is amazing, he picked a beautiful piece of lake front property to build a rustic luxury huge cabin, arguably one of the most beautiful homes on the lake, pool table downstairs, a two story fireplace to cuddle up on any floor. A gorgeous wrap around deck, cozy beds, gourmet kitchen, I mean if u didn’t go outside you would have sn amazing vacation but go outside and sit on back porch and look at the lake!! Walk down to the beach and stroll around, it’s all yours !! Be sure to ask for property map, he has all the private trails and points of interest marked on it for you to explore!! It’s a huge piece of land. A week stay and you could not see everything!! The beach access was gorgeous with so many different spots to sunbathe on the rocky cliffs or watch the stars at nite !! We loved this place. Loved it

A secluded Paradise
This place is amazing. The photos do not do it justice. As a realtor I would suggest that the owner invest in some professional photos. No doubt this place would stay booked!! There is a beautiful private cove that we spend most of our time in with the kids. The water activities and supplies were an extra bonus. There was plenty of space for our family of 7 with room to spare. The only thing is the store is a good distance away so definitely write a grocery list and prepare for the days ahead. The drive down is a little nerve wracking. We are from the very flat state of Louisiana. Lol. So I was extremely nervous driving my Yukon down the gravel road with the mountain slopes and loose gravel. I wouldn’t suggest it in a car unless you are familiar with how to drive down that type of terrain. We would no doubt stay again and definitely recommend this place to anyone!!

Wonderful property and location!
We had a fantastic time at Moonshadow Lodge! Our party included 5 teens and an eight year old. The property was very clean and had everything we could need…we cooked every night and grilled. The kids loved fishing off the property and caught bass, bream, sun perch, and catfish. They also had a blast canoeing and kayaking, swimming, hiking Turtle Trail, and playing pool, ping pong and football. We took a couple days and went trout fishing on the Little Red River and limited out on rainbow trout. We also rented a pontoon boat and took the kids tubing! The view from the lodge is just beautiful! Great responsiveness and communication from the owner and we never had any issues! The kids had an absolute blast and we would rent this place again in a heartbeat! Thanks for sharing this beautiful place!

Amazing secluded nature retreat plus luxury accommodations!
Moon Shadow Lodge is everything described, and more. The location is amazing - a peaceful lake cove with a walkable gorgeous lakeshore on either side. The water was low enough for us to walk up and down naturally-formed steps of sparkling granite, discover intricate rock formations and enjoy breathtaking views of lake, trees, and sky. We turned all the lights off at night and immersed ourselves in the starlight sky. The spirit of the place really shines through! And in the middle of pristine nature, we had a "five star" experience in a wonderfully-designed and appointed lake house. The kitchen is the best equipped we've experienced in a rental, with top of the line appliances, cookware and gadgets. It was a pleasure to leisurely cook our meals while taking in the views. The details of the house made it really special, with original wood and stone everywhere. But the bathrooms really take the cake. We felt like we were at a spa, excellent showers with intricate stone work and beautiful everything else in the room. The jacuzzi tub for two is the bomb! Finally, Dugan the owner was a wonderful host. Totally accessible by text and phone, which was great because the house is very secluded so it made us very comfortable to know that we could reach him at any time. Moon Shadow Lodge is a great romantic getaway, but it's really set up perfectly for families with three separate floors and a lot of private spaces. Thank you, Dugan, for sharing your amazing retreat with us and being a great host!

Love this place!
The house is great! It fit our three generations of family perfectly; a suite upstairs for parents, a grandparents room on the main floor so minimal stairs to climb and a kids/game room down below. Great view and direct access to the lake. Interesting drive down to it, best done with four-wheel drive. Dugan was the best host we’ve ever stayed with and we’ve stayed in many vacation homes. Read everything on the website and you won’t be disappointed

Relaxing escape
Moon Shadow was one of the best lake houses we have stayed in. The house was super clean and well stocked. The area was beautiful. We couldn’t have asked for a better house and location on the lake. Very secluded but still has internet access. Fishing was great also even though it was super windy and rainy most of our trip.

Heavenly Retreat
Words and pictures do not do it justice! You have to see and experience it for yourself to truly appreciate the beauty of this peaceful property. Even our two teen boys loved it! Dugan was an amazing host and from the very start gave us all the information we would need to arrive, settle in and make the most of our stay. Whether it was hiking along the shore, on trails through the trees, canoeing on the lake or just relaxing with a book in one of the many vantage points from which you can enjoy the scenery and sounds of nature, you really cannot go wrong booking this property!

The Lake
I’ve stayed in many cabins, and this by far was the best. The property has well water, but the owner has gone above and beyond to provide filtered water for his patrons. There is also an ice machine…it really is the little things that make a stay perfect! The only suggestion I have is to put a queen bed in the dungeon room and move the bunk beds into the game room. We had three families stay, and one had to sleep on the bunk beds. We would make this our annual trip if that was changed. I loved every aspect!

Wow! This property exceeded our expectations! We're always looking for properties that allow for exploring while also providing the level of comfort we prefer! This place had that and then some! Bring your mountain bikes and climbing legs to get the full experience. Start to finish Dugan was an exceptional host. What an adventure
This booking is a great place to get away from the day to day and reconnect with the family. The drive down to the cabin is breathtaking. The view from the lodge is amazing. We could ask for nothing more from a booking. This particular weekend just happened to be the worst winter storm of the season but we still had a great time an adventure that will not soon be forgotten. Mr. King is a one of a kind hoist he was extremely attentive. He went above and beyond to ensure we were enjoying his lodge. This community and the people that live there is a rare find. With all you see wrong on tv and social media these days. This community came together to help strangers no questions asked. They are the people that make this Country the best place in the world to live. Thanks to everyone in this great and gracious community. See y’all this summer.

Heaven on earth
We are well traveled, so it is quite difficult to impress us, that said-We are beyond impressed with the surrounding property, the home, Dugan (The owner.) and with the beauty of this special place. It is paradise! Although there are numerous tv’s there-we never even turned one on. We did a ton of exploring and hiking. Sitting on the deck, grilling and looking out over the peaceful lake. A lot of bonding time. Our host Dugan was attentive, gracious and friendly. Not just a super host, but a super duper host. We can’t wait to return! We already miss Moon Shadow!!

Secluded Get a Way
The perfect place to get away from civilization and spend time with your family. The lodge was spectacular , spacious, with plenty of room for everyone. Beautiful layout inside and out and not to mention the view of the lake was amazing. Also, walks along the lake shore is like no other, with the rock formations for your waters edge....Stunning! Communication with the owner was very prompt and willing to accommodate to our needs. He even searched 3 counties for us, firewood and delivered just before we arrived. Everything we hoped for more
My husband, 2 dogs and I enjoyed 3 weeks at Moon Shadow. Friends joined us for a couple of long weekends to enjoy the perfect get away. This property provided beautiful views of Greers Ferry Lake, trails to hike, a place for a bonfire with friends, and when temps dropped a fire in the fireplace. The property manager was extremely helpful and checked in by text periodically to make sure all was well. If you are looking for a real get away in a lovely home Moon Shadow is the perfect place.

Very nice house
Overall we had a very good experience and thought the house was very nice and well appointed. There are two things that I think could really be improved on. First is the mattress on the bed in the king bedroom. Honestly it is one of if the hardest mattress I have ever tried to sleep on and made sleeping very difficult and painful. I would suggest some type of topper or a new and softer mattress. Secondly is the grill needs to have the charcoal grate replaced or the entire grill should be replaced. Charcoal kept falling through the grate and caused issues. As nice as the house is it should have a nicer grill. Again overall we had a great stay and would rent this location again.

We do have a thick memory foam topper stored in the master bedroom closet for those who prefer a less firm mattress. We also repaired the grill and do appreciate our guest for letting us know about the issue. We do look forward to their return.

Awesome Getaway
If you are looking for some peace and quiet in a beautiful setting to get away from it all, this is the property for you! The lodge has everything we needed to cook, relax and just enjoy our time together. The provided kayaks, paddle board and floaties were awesome, and we spent most of our time just hanging out in the water. Also, big shout out for the ice machine too. That worked awesome to fill Coolers for the day. We also brought atvs and explored the property in the morning before it got too hot! We rented a boat one day from the marina and highly recommend. Dugan was a great host, responded very quickly, and he worked fast to remedy any problems or issues we had. We appreciated his detailed instructions for the ride in, and we didn’t have any issues navigating the road down. We are used to that type of terrain where we live, though. I could see that making some people nervous if you don’t drive on gravel often. No complaints from us, and we’d love to book this again in the future. Highly recommend.

GFLake is our happy place!
This house is awesome. Loved the bathrooms! House is well stocked . The view is great. We loved the pool table too, we even had a pool tournament. If you have a boat it is located near multiple marinas. We had a wonderful time. Would highly recommend!

Remote, Relaxing, and Rejuvenating
In all it was pretty dang awesome. Dugan was A+ host. If you want to get away from everything then this is the place for you. I’ve read some of the reviews and yes the road is steep, narrow, bumpy, etc…. It’s backwoods and off of the beaten path!! That’s what makes this place what it is and that’s awesome. I pulled a 20’ boat trailer down there with absolutely no problems. You won’t be disappointed in this place.

Hidden gem
This place was perfect for the summer weekend getaway our group had planned. The private cove on the lake right behind the lodge really set this place apart. We spent most of the day in the water and never saw anyone else, with the exception of the occasional passing boat. The lodge was so large and clean and well-furnished. We had everything we needed for all the meals we made. Will definitely return here again in the future.

Awesome getaway
I really enjoyed my stay at Shadow Moon. There were a ton of outdoor activities to do, and the complimentary rafts made the trip such a good deal. The only suggestions I would make would be to pave the road leading down to the cabin, to leave some toiletries in the bathrooms (toothpaste, shampoo, etc.), and to leave the master bathroom unlocked. We were able to find the key for the bathroom before calling about it, but it was confusing for a minute. Other than those few minor things, the trip was great and I would definitely come back! 5/5

We just graded the roads thanks to a break in the rainy weather. The locked door should not have happened. We recommend our guests bring their favourite brands of personal toiletries like shampoo, toothpaste, etc. … we furnish hand soap, toilet paper, and laundry detergent. We appreciate the input and apologise for the locked door.

Our new family getaway
If you want to be completely removed from the world but still in a luxury setting, then this place is for you. The cabin is beautiful and clean. The view and location is what takes your breath away. The pictures just don't come close to the real thing. I ended up over packing. All you need are your clothes and food! Thank you so much to the owners for opening up their cabin. The only request I would have, is for the master bed to have a topper. It was too hard for our preference.

Amazing cabin and ATV paradise
Okay, let me just start off by saying wow! Pictures from the listing simply don’t do this place justice. We had 6 adults and 6 children ranging from 1 1/2 a to 10 years old with never a dull moment! The road getting down the mountain to the cabin is not as bad as other reviews mentioned. Just leave your trailer at the top and drive your Vehicle and ATVs down separately no problem! We did everything from canoeing, fishing, ATV trail riding w/ network of trails we have yet to finish explorin, campfires, grilling out on the deck, skipping rocks by the lake, finding the cliffs for amazing pictures, etc etc etc.... This will be a place we return yearly! Y’all won’t be disappointed!

Amazing, secluded lake getaway!
What an excellent property for a quick weekend getaway with friends and family! Moon Shadow Lodge did not disappoint. The location on Greers Ferry is a bit more remote and secluded, but that was totally what we were looking for. Property was very much as described- very well maintained, most everything you could need for cooking and other necessities. The home was very well built and has nice appointments. Game room downstairs with bunk rooms for kids was a hit. The views of the lake during our crisp, cold stay were incredible and were further enjoyed in conjunction with the warm fire inside that we were able to build with the ample firewood and log starters provided. While we could not get on the water during December, it was great to have the change of scenery and be out in the wilderness for a bit, especially when you have such a nice place to stay! Dugan the owner was extremely accommodating and very reachable by text and through the vrbo app. I'm sure he would have been available via phone, too, but we did not need to call. I was thankful for our SUV's all wheel drive (AWD) heading down to and up from the Lodge, as the Lodge sits at the bottom of a ridge right on the lake (breathtaking views of the lake on the way down). However, i know others have been ok without AWD and the heightened suspension of an SUV, but certainly in the rain and snow i would think it would be preferred considering the road to the cabin is not paved (approximately 1.5 miles). Either way, if there had been an issue, I'm sure Dugan would have been able to help. Super host! Thanks for the great weekend at Moon Shadow Lodge!
