Amazing cabin in the woods
We loved being hidden in the trees. The cabin is cute and cozy but reevaluate we spent a good amount of time just in the trees. It’s at the top of the neighborhood If you walk further up the mountain you just get deeper into the trees. Hosts were responsive and gave good advice, we had a 4 cylinder car so we probably would have gotten stuck if a storm had hit so that might be something to keep in mind in the winter. And it’s about 30 min to get to downtown Durango but it’s a beautiful drive and worth it.

Lovely Christmas getaway
It was very quiet and peaceful. Had everything we needed for the kitchen. Plenty of blankets and lots of wild animals to observe. Would definately recommend.

Awesome Mountain Cabin!
My wife and I rented the cabin to get away from Houston for our 5th Anniversary. This place is awesome! A peaceful mountain getaway with all the comforts of home. Little did we know that the first snow of the season would come early this year and dump almost 20inches of snow. While it was extremely beautiful, we were so glad we had an AWD SUV to safely navigate back down the mountain. We would come back again and love to do some summer hiking. Thanks for a great hideaway just outside of Durango!

Perfect getaway to the mountains
The location was very peaceful while also very convenient to Bayfield, Durango, and many access points to the San Juan Mountains. We enjoyed the amenities, the western decor, and spacious loft for the main bedroom. The fireplace in the living room added to a comfortable and relaxing stay. We would love to visit the area again soon and would definitely choose Heiden's Hideaway again.

Peaceful and Relaxing Cabin in the Woods
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our two-week stay at this property. The location is very quiet. We found the cabin to be very clean and well stocked with kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies, and personal products. We highly recommend this property for couples or families.

Deer Heaven!!
Our family stayed at this cabin for 8 nights in July. This is our second time staying here. We just love it. Very quiet and beautifully wooded property. DEER and TURKEYS everywhere. Love spending the evenings on the deck. Will definitely be back.

We love this cabin however, there were a few problems this year. The toilet needed a wax ring b/c it was leaking on the floor. Also, the toilet ran water all the time. We found mouse pills and chewed up stuff that the mice left. 😟

The property was exactly as shown and described. The loft is huge and is an apartment unto itself. The water was hot and the shower was medium to strong. Shauna was always quick to respond to our “out of town” questions. All-in-all… a great stay! Relaxing and quiet. All spots of interest were within easy driving distance.

Cozy Hideaway
This cabin was perfect for our stay in Colorado. We had everything we needed and more. This place truly felt like a home away from home. We especially loved the rustic decor. Very comfortable furnishings, the king bed upstairs was AMAZING. We loved sitting on the front porch for morning coffee or evening cocktails. The private community lake was a beautiful place for an evening family walk. We saw several mule deer and chipmunks during our stay.

It was a nice cabin really quiet I recommend grabbing food before heading up and also there is a tv but you cannot cast to it so it’s very limited but besides that it was great

Neat little cabin
Simple. Quiet. Neat. Clean. Only improvements we can think of would be a curtain on the downstairs bedroom window ( we city folk spook easily!) And a working clock in the downstairs bedroom. We were pleased with the accommodations and would consider staying again.

Great views.....great stay!
Only downfall to our stay was the drive up to the cabin. If you stay here, do the drive during daylight to acclimate yourself. Other than that it was just as advertised.

It's a deer retreat
We were in the area for a ride on the Durango-Silverton Train so, didn't we didn't spend much time at the house. The first evening we were there, we spent a little time outside watching deer. The rest of our time was spent sleeping or showering. The cabin would be good to spend a bit more time at. It takes about 37 minutes to get to the depot so if that's all you are planning to do, there is a better spot. If you have time to relax at the cabin this is a good spot.

Durango Polar Express.
We had one issue - the bed linen utilized downstairs were not clean and the bed sags in the middle. Bed, bed linen and towels need to be replaced for further use. They had holes and very worn. I would recommend this place and come again if the bed, bed linen and bathroom towels were updated.

Thank you for the feedback. We just finished doing some upgrades on the cabin. Beds, linens, and towels were all included. I’m sorry we came up short but we hope you come back for another visit. I think you’ll really enjoy the recent changes we’ve made.

Great Hide-away
I was looking for a little seclusion for a few days and this was perfect for that. It is in a beautiful ridge of evergreens that was great for my puppy and me to explore. It has all the appointments to make it feel like home. Everything from how to get in to how everything worked was just as they described. The place is in a maze of roads in that neighborhood but GPS got me there. I'd recommend it as a place to work on that great American novel or base to access Durango and other things in that part of the country.

Wonderful Colorado Cabin
Our family used this location as a launching site to visit the 4 Corners and Mesa Verda ruins and to just get away. We brought our two dogs who loved watching the deer and going for walks along the treed roads. The cabin was clean with lots of sleeping options. It had everything we needed and was well stocked with regular supplies like toilet paper and towels. It was really nice to have a washer and dryer to use. We enjoyed the area so much that on our last day we just played cornhole as a family on the cabin's extra long secondary driveway. We had so much fun! Thank you!

Nice Cabin in a Good Location
The cabin is very comfortable, and is in a great location if you love nature and wildlife. There are lots of deer and turkey nearby. The VRBO info shows a photo of the "community lake." That lake is not near the cabin and is being drained and renovated. The cabin is structurally sound, but needs some TLC and a good cleaning.

Part of Nature
The property manager, Shannon, was extremely responsive. Unrelated to the cabin, we had an issue with a tire and reached out to her about it to find out if she might know a neighbor with an air compressor. While she didn’t have that answer, she reached out later to make sure we were okay. The cabin was spacious enough for two of us and our dog. The cabin definitely could sleep 6 comfortably. The area was tranquil and had friendly neighbors. The cabin itself is about a 10 minute drive off the main road. It has a washer/dryer and dishwasher as well. The only two things that we really noticed were lots of cobwebs inside and we slept on the kind bed which was not comfortable and needs to be replaced. It was clearly an old mattress that has seen better days. Otherwise we enjoyed our time there. It was definitely a relaxing escape.
