Valentinos House & Pool, Costa Maresme – 20 mins from Barcelona

Step back in time in this beautifully restored historic house in the heart of a traditional Maresme village, just 20 km from Barcelona.

Dating back to the 17th century, the house retains its original character, including old wooden ceiling beams and uneven walls, while offering modern comforts. Set directly on the village’s main square, it gives you the chance to experience everyday Catalan village life while enjoying your own private space. A café/tapas bar is just outside, with shops, bakeries, restaurants and a pharmacy all within easy walking distance.

The large private pool is a rare feature for a historic house and provides a peaceful place to relax, dine outdoors or enjoy the pool area.

THE SPACE

Ground Floor – Sleeping Area: This is where you will sleep. The large downstairs room has two double beds (180 × 200 cm and 160 × 200 cm) and a sofa bed (160 × 200 cm), accommodating up to 6 guests. Two ceiling fans are provided. The room is reached by steps leading down from the entrance hall.

First Floor – Living Area and Kitchen: An open-plan living area and kitchen overlooking the pool, with air conditioning and a ceiling fan.

Bathroom & Laundry: The bathroom and laundry area are located between the ground and first floors, with access to the pool area.

The bathroom has a walk-in shower, bidet, WC, washbasin and hairdryer. Please note that the jacuzzi bath is currently unavailable for use.

The laundry area has a washing machine, iron and ironing board for guests to use. The dryer is not available for guest use.

OUTDOOR AREA & POOL

The private pool area has a table, chairs and BBQ, providing a peaceful space for relaxing and dining outdoors.

The pool is unheated. However, it is open all year round.

HISTORIC CHARACTER

Inside, you’ll mainly hear birds singing, with the occasional toll of the nearby 16th-century church bell.

As with any historic property, some natural dust may occasionally be present, which may be relevant for guests with allergies.

The property also has outdoor plants and greenery, so ants, mosquitoes, bees and other insects may occasionally be present, particularly during the warmer months. Insect spray is provided.

Leaves and other natural debris may occasionally fall into the pool despite regular cleaning.

THE VILLAGE

The village has narrow streets, historic buildings, cafés, shops and restaurants, with everyday amenities within easy walking distance.

During the summer months, the village comes alive with local festivals and celebrations, with occasional events and live music taking place in the main square. Although the house is private and secluded, you may occasionally hear music or other sounds from village celebrations. Catalan people love to celebrate, and these events are part of the local atmosphere!

If you are not coming by car, we provide a shopping trolley to make it easier to bring your groceries home.

PARKING & TRANSPORT

Dropping off luggage: You can stop briefly in the village square to unload your bags. Spaces are limited and the square is a paid zone during the day.

Free parking: There is free parking at Can Banús, approximately a 6-minute walk away. Please refer to the map in the photos.

If you cannot find a space there, you can look for street parking nearby. As this is an old village with narrow streets, availability can vary depending on the time and day.

Public transport: A direct Moventis 805 bus to Barcelona city centre is approximately a 5-minute walk away, with a journey time of around 30–40 minutes. The Moventis 803 can take you to Vilassar de Mar, the coast and train station.

SELF-CATERING

The property is self-catering, with basic supplies provided. Additional items can be purchased locally.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW

The house has several levels and steps and is not suitable for guests with mobility issues.

There are no safety railings around the outdoor areas, so children must be supervised at all times.

No groups under 25.

SECURITY & PRIVACY

For security, the property has two indoor motion sensors that are only active when the alarm is armed while the house is unoccupied. There is also one exterior security camera facing the street entrance. There are no cameras inside the house or in the pool or patio areas.
