Unsafe and Extremely Noisy – Still Awaiting VRBO Resolution
We stayed at this apartment in Barcelona from May 18–23, 2025, and the experience was extremely distressing. The unit was misrepresented on the listing, there was no mention that it faces a major thoroughfare with relentless traffic noise, day and night. It was impossible to sleep. The noise level was constant and overwhelming, made worse by garbage trucks arriving at 2:00, 3:00, and 4:00 AM with loud banging and shouting. It felt like trying to rest on a traffic island.Even more concerning, the apartment itself was unsafe. The staircase was steep and narrow, the handrail was broken and poorly taped together, and the elevator didn’t stop at the ground floor, making it dangerous to get in or out, especially with luggage. These safety hazards were not disclosed in the listing.This was a trip we had saved up for over three years, and instead of enjoying Barcelona, we were left sleep-deprived, anxious, and frustrated. We reached out to VRBO support multiple times and shared sound files and videos that clearly document the issues. We also spoke to two VRBO live chat agents this week and filed a formal refund request.To date, we have not received a resolution or even a proper response. I’m urging VRBO to review the evidence and issue a refund immediately. This property should never have been listed in its current condition. We expected better oversight and support from VRBO and hope this matter is resolved without further delay.
