I meant to write this review while we were staying at this house so I wouldn’t forget anything. First, the things we loved. It’s so cute! We took advantage of the kitchen and baked cookies. It had everything we needed.
The beds were comfortable although I did have to wash the pillowcases in the master bedroom as they did not smell clean. No big deal.
It was cold when we were there so we didn’t use the decks but did plug in the festive lights on both decks. We also hiked up above the house and it was one of the most beautiful places ever. My 13 year old found the area first and even though a little hard to hike up to it, he convinced me it was worth it. It was! Our dog loved running around up there as well.
I am very picky about things being clean and felt it was for the most part.
As for the negatives, we arrived at night and the GPS from the listing took us to the wrong house. I suggest arriving during the day if possible. We also came in from the direction that winds you around the mountain. We quickly learned the easy way to get to restaurants, etc and when we ventured out to Boone or other places we put Banner Elk cafe in the GPS so it would take us the easy way to and from the house.
Also, I have rented using VRBO for many years and have never delt with a management co quite like this one. They were nice but I had to go through extra steps that I was not use to. Things such as having to call them to verify my identity, signing extra documents, etc. Again, they were nice but it was kind of a pain.
A few people mentioned the basement. We didn’t have a need for it so it didn’t bother us but I guess they should take it off the pictures.
As a very picky renter, would I rent this property again? Yes! We loved our stay picking out our Christmas trees and this cute house! My kids loved the bunk beds, playing hide & seek and exploring the area around the house.
