Really enjoyed the staff and owner, property was clean and views were great! For those bring family (3 or more) please note:
The hot water heater is good for 1 hot shower or bath before needing to reheat for 20 minutes.
There is no laundry in the condo, the closest washer/dryer are commercial (2-3 loads) cost $5.50 for wash and 25 cents per 5 minutes on the dryer. It is down a long hallway as well. There are single load w/d on other floors. Fine for two people, however for families staying more than a few weeks; it gets expensive.
The worst issue of all is the shuttle situation (no fault of owner); we stayed in June and was told by security that we would have to park in lot C and take the shuttle up the steep hill to the condo. I was told the parking lot at the condo was for “owners”, however half the spots were for guests and the lot was never full. Despite the empty spaces we were told we would have to take the shuttle. We were also told we could not park in lot A, which is a short walk to the condo even though it has 42 empty spots the entire time we were there (30 days). Again, this is fine for a couple staying the weekend; however when you have to grocery shop for 5 people; drop and pickup kids from camp every and load/unload bags; it is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!
The other thing to note if you are driving a mini van or other heavy vehicle; the drive from the condo down to the main road is straight down and very curvy. You have to put your vehicle in 3rd gear or your breaks will be smoking as mine did.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay, both Banner Elk and Boone are 15-25 minutes away and TONS of stuff to do for both kids and adults. The owners always responded in a matter of minutes and the staff were always friendly.
