This was our first visit to Bacalar, it is trully an amazing place. If you are looking for a secluded lakefront property where you can feel like you are part of nature, this is the place. We spent 4 days in Sally´s house and it was an incredible experience, although being in a gated community it feels like you are totally by yourself and we never saw anyone else in the lagoon during our vacation. The house has a couple of Kayaks that our kids loved, feeling like explorers researching all over the lake, they went by themselves and decided where to unload to snorkel around. The town of Bacalar is a 15 to 20 min drive from the house and Chetumal´s airport is about 50 minutes, but you should rent a car or you won´t be able to move around the area. If you come make sure to make a whole day trip to Mahahual, an amazing beach town with a very interesting vibe just 50 minutes from the house in the opposite direction from Bacalar, we had an incredible meal and day in Beach club www.nacionalbeachclub.com, the chef is a definite grill master, you have to try the octopus! In a few words, if you want to feel what is like to be immersed in nature, spend a few days in a jungle paradise with a tranquil lagoon at your disposal, this is your place, you won´t be dissapointed!
