The house is beautiful and the location is great. Our family had a fantastic time. The kitchen is well stocked, everything was clean, pool and beach items in the shed and tons of games in the closet. The walkout to the beach is a bit of a workout for us “older” people but our kids and grandkids had no trouble. I would absolutely recommend staying here.

Great Place

Location was good - close to the beach and mid-point on the Outer Banks for trips north or south. House was very clean with a great pool and even better jacuzzi. Would definitely recommend this place and will seriously think about booking it for next year.

Great location and amenities

We loved our week here. Even though the weather wasn’t great, we had a great time. We took advantage of the pool, the hot tub and most of all pool table during the cooler days. And the house was close to lots of activities/attractions like the bodie and hattaras light houses and the Elizabethan gardens and the aquarium in Manteo which were great for short day trips. And the house has been renovated and is really beautiful and comfortable. Highly recommend.

Amazing Vacation!

Overall this place is amazing. The location was quiet and so relaxing. The views are absolutely beautiful. It is a pretty long trek to the beach over the dune so be prepared for that if you have a bunch of stuff. The house was well stocked. We had all the pots, pans, and utensils we needed. We used games and puzzles that were provided and loved the pool table. I will say it is probably time to update the bedrooms and bathrooms on the first floor. Would stay here again.

great place to relax!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this great property. The view can't be beat, everything was clean, well appointed, pretty much perfect. A winner for our family vacation. One thing I'd suggest, is instructions for the TV's. We got a couple of them working, but bedrooms especially were a mystery. And since we were there during hurricane Ian, it would have been helpful to know the closest local stations for weather updates. Other than that, this place has it all.

Great Ocean and Nature Views

My family had a wonderful week at this house. My 86 year old mother who found it a little challenging to get over the dune to the beach totally enjoyed the awesome ocean views from the deck and sun bathing by the pool. We had coffee on the deck each morning watching the sun rise. Two mornings we saw a doe grazing alone the dune, on another morning we saw 2 bucks grazing in the dune and on a 4th morning a doe and her calf strolled by! The house had everything we needed for the week and the starter package you included was perfect.

September week

House was totally used for spacing. Perfect size for our party. Did not use hot tub or pool table, but a nice addition. Minor use of pool. Only negative is a crappy gas grill. I understand they are in salt air and negligent renters, but we cook mostly outside on grills. I spoil myself with a Lazyman commercial grill at home. But i do recommend the real estate!

Good stay, but not returning

No elevator so bringing the coolers and stuff in for the week was a pain. Hard to tell which room is the master, probably the one on the first floor which we didn’t like so we took the queen on the second floor so we had a view better than the pool. Beds aren’t very comfortable in general. Heated pool was a great investment! Be prepared to buy/bring all the basics- provided 1 trash bag, 1 toilet paper in each bathroom, no dish soap, no hand soap - for a 7 night stay. Also there is a rug in the kitchen that you cannot remove so be prepared to carpet clean that every night if you cook - who puts a massive white rug in the kitchen? All in all, it was a good stay and cute place, but we’ll be going somewhere else next year.

2022 Avon Beach Vacation

We had an amazing beach vacation at Daddy Mack's Beach Shack. The house offered everything we could possibly want for a beach vacation. The price, location and amenities were spot on. Steps away from the beach with an amazing view of the ocean. When not on the beach, we were able to have fun in the pool, the hot tub or playing pool. The kitchen has been recently finished and was stocked with everything we needed. Very clean with an open floor plan to the living room and upper deck. This is where we spent most of our time. One of the bathrooms connected to a second floor bedroom was recently renovated and looked great. It would be fantastic if the bedrooms and other bathrooms could have a similar upgrade to take this home to an even better level. But again, for the price and all of the amenities, we give this house a high five rating. Will definitely go back again and recommend to friends. Thank you for a great time!

Home review

House had nice location. Kitchen was stocked with needed utensils and amenities. Steps narrow and steep. 1st floor has very little air conditioning. Humid and uncomfortable on humid days. 2nd floor was a little better but only floor with good air conditioning was 3rd floor overall nice house just not comfortable temperature wise on floors with bedrooms. Service was great. Had heat issue with pool and they came right away to fix. Very friendly and helpful staff.

OBX dream vacation

Daddy Mac’s Shack is absolutely beautiful and met all our needs. Our family vacation was awesome thanks to the amenities there and proximity to the beach, restaurants and shops. The pool was the best!!

Relaxing week at the beach

The house had everything we needed for a relaxing week at the beach. The top floor was open concept with kitchen, living room, and dining room in one big area with large windows on three sides, and a large deck giving a great view of the dunes, ocean, pool, sunrises. The bottom two floors housed the 5 bedrooms, with a sitting area on the 2nd floor (with TV for game playing) and a pool room/wet bar on the bottom floor with sliders out to the pool. We loved having the pool for swimming after a day on the beach. The only thing we didn't use was the hot tub - not a big draw for us in the summer heat. Would stay here again.

This is a beautiful property in a great location. Many extra amenities, like a game room with a second fridge, a small “theater room” on the second floor, and pool/beach gear in the shed. The furnishings are very nice and better quality than most houses we've rented in Avon. We would not hesitate to rent here again.

The house is on a nice quiet street in Avon. It's well kept and updated on the top level. The beach is quiet and we never had an issue with finding a spot or with noise from the adjacent houses. A wonderful view from the upper deck too! The pool was nice and clean and was a great spot to hangout at the end of the day. Would definitely recommend!

an unforgettable trip

It was a really good trip The sunrise and sunset from the balcony were one of the best views of my life and the weather was perfect with no humidity. Also, the hot tub and the heated pool were loved by the kids.

great stay

The property was a bit moldy when we arrived. We opened all doors and windows up cut off the ac and within an hour or so it was just fine. the pool and hot tub were great and there was ample room for our group. would do it again!!

Peace of mind

The week was great. Access to the beach was next to the property. Pool and hot tub awesome for a day dip or evening relaxation. Loved the hammock, always a cool breeze. The top floor beautiful, and the view immaculate. Town was small and quiet. Overall headed back home in a relaxed state of of mind. (Shower curtains some mildew, fans and hand rails need dusting, may want to check the deck for popped out nails.)

Great vacation! Wonderful House

We truly enjoyed this wonderful House. Great locations, pool is awesome! We ran out of Propane during our visit, it was quickly filled and the owners even dropped off a $25 gift certificate for Ice Cream for the minor inconvenience! Very thoughtful of them. Our only complaint was the lower levels AC didn't go lower than 72, making it a bit warm in the first floor bed rooms. An outdoor dining table would of been a nice touch on the upper deck! I think we personally would of used the hot tub more if it was by the pool or even on the upper deck. Great vacation all and all!

Just a top notch place!

We have been going to obx and specifically Avon for ten years. Daddy Mac was , by far, the best experience we have ever had. The place was top notch and the experience was top notch. Do yourself a favor and book this place! We were sad to leave.
