Overall, we were pleased with the property. The pictures were an accurate description of the unit. It is dated in terms of appliances and amenities (I'd guess late 80s early 90s), but the furniture, beds, etc. were all very comfortable. There was plenty of room for our family of six to spread out. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to feed a large group and the internet was fast (often a problem in short term rentals). The three negatives that prevented me from rating the unit five stars:
1) The owner needs to find a better cleaning service. All the hard surfaces and bathrooms were clean. However, it was obvious that the unit wasn't vacuumed before we arrived. The carpets had a lot of dirt and "stuff" cereal, etc. on them. Not a big deal. The unit had a vacuum and we gave it a good once over. However and worse, we found a number of dishes, utensils, and cooking pots and pans in the cabinets that had caked on food (some were really gross). Probably put away by the previous tenant, without a proper washing, but I expect the cleaning service should double check everything is clean.
2)There were a number of lights (bulbs) out and some normal appliance functions that weren't in working order. I suspect the hot water heater needs to be repaired, as we only had enough hot water for three (short!) showers. It took an hour or more to get enough hot water for the rest of the family to shower. Again, not terrible, but inconvenient.
3) The hot tub in the basement was useless, as there wasn't enough hot water to fill it to the level needed to activate the switch. There wasn't even enough hot water to get an overall warm jetted bath.
These aren't deal breakers, and I think if the owner had a handyman spend a day going over the unit and a more attentive cleaning crew, this unit would be 5 stars in my book.
