Can't say enough good things about our stay here! This space is so thoughtfully hosted and arranged. We stayed for two nights in between camping stints in some national parks, and we especially appreciated the luxuriously comfortable beds and well-stocked kitchen tools as we refreshed ourselves, ate a couple of home-cooked meals, and took in the adorable downtown nearby.

The house was stunning, and very comfortable,The kitchen isfull equipped and the beds are luxurious. Board games, telescope and reading books.Everything is decorated in a warm and cozy waySpecial lighting at night.Keri and Doug welcomed us happily and were available.Getting in and out of the parking lot is a bit challenging but they promised to help if there was a problem.We had a great time Keri and Doug are lovely.If you want a great vacation this is the perfect place.Noam and the whole family

Wonderful wish we could have stayed longer! My husband left his crutches at a gas stop on the way and he was kind enough to let us borrow some he had there as soon as we got there. Everything was so clean and beautiful. It was a pleasure and will be coming back!

Getaway with my girls

This place was perfect! Very clean, great decor, and the view was amazing. We loved beginning and ending our day on the porch, enjoying the peace and quiet. The owners were great and had a very quick response time. We would definitely stay there again. Thank you for such a wonderful place for a much-needed getaway!

This is a beautiful space in a beautiful setting. Everything was comfortable, clean, modern, functional, and beautiful! I didn't realize this was attached to the owner's home when I booked it, but it wasn't awkward at all. The space is private and separate. Enjoying the view from the front porch was a relaxing highlight at night. We loved staying here!

Comfortable and well appointed home

This home is meticulously maintained and well appointed. The beds, loveseat, and chairs are all comfortable. There is a TV in the living room and both bedrooms. The wi-fi is good. In addition to chairs, the porch has a swing and a telescope, and there is a hammock and a grill in the yard. The A/C worked well and there was a beautiful walk-in shower. The bathroom sinks were also beautiful (art glass bowls mounted on top of traditional height cabinets) but their rims were very high and would be challenging for short people or children to use.The hosts responded to questions very quickly, and thoughtfully left some bottled water and snacks.The location is about halfway between Ashland and the CA border. About a 20 minute drive into town. Be aware that the roads from I-5 and state route 66 are windy and steep and may be challenging in snowy or icy weather (on the plus side, there is little traffic - there was more wildlife than cars on these roads).The one other thing to be aware of (which is disclosed in the listing) is that there is no washer or dryer so you either have to bring enough clothes to last through your stay, wash clothes in a sink, or drive into Ashland to use a laundromat. Fortunately, we brought enough clothes to last our stay. Also, there is only one restaurant within 5 miles, for anything else (groceries, fuel, etc.), you have to drive into Ashland.

We enjoyed a lovely night at the Mountain Retreat. Our hosts were very accommodating and great at communicating. The space is generously appointed with comfortable chairs, beds, and a fully stocked kitchen. When we came back from dinner there was a buck standing on the porch! You are truly in the mountains and we really enjoyed the quiet evening. We also appreciated the generous second bedroom for our son who was happy with a break from the parents! Beautiful location and lovely accommodations. Thank you!

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay! Home was absolutely beautiful with super comfy beds. There is clearly so much attention to details & making sure there is anything we could possibly need during our stays. Hosts were extremely responsive & went above & beyond in helping us. The porch was my happy place after a long day of travel. We saw 4 deer in the driveway too.We would love to come back and stay longer. Thank you again

We had the most WONDERFUL experience staying here! The location is beautiful, and the craftsmanship of the home is gorgeous. It was great for our family and we highly enjoyed watching the deer and birds off the deck.

Amazing Stay

Lovely time in a great space

This is such a lovely getaway! We really enjoyed the space, the beds were super comfy, everything was super clean, and the addition of a bunch of available indoor annd outdoor games and toys really took it up a notch! We had 2 under 2yo kiddos with us who also really seemed to enjoy the space and feel right at home! The hosts were communicative and so kind. We would love to see the check-out instructions displayed more clearly as we found it hard to decipher just that pertinent information! We plan on coming back for more Shakespeare, more hiking, and more relaxing in this lovely getaway! Thank you!

Mountain Getaway

Enjoyed our stay immensely. Secluded and quiet. Furnishings were beautiful and functional. A lot of thought has gone into the property. The driveway was challenging the first time down but was no problem after the initial trip. The owners live above the house. It did not take away from our stay. Met Doug and enjoyed our conversation. I would definitely stay here again. Over all a wonderful place.

Quiet, Comfortable Getaway

The space that Doug and Keri have provided is immaculately laid out and decorated. We were very comfortable and felt well taken care of with lots of extra amenities (a basket of snacks, bottled water in the fridge, spare toiletries in the bathroom). It was a bit of a trek to reach the property but it was worth it for the quiet nights and lovely sunset views. Our Subaru had no problem at all with the steep gravel driveway. The fact that we were sharing a house was irrelevant. We didn't see, and barely heard, our hosts for the two nights we stayed. They did contact us briefly via text to let us know that they had spotted a bobcat on the property while we were out one evening. Thanks for the heads up! The only thing I'm dinging my review for (and seriously, this is very minor) is that the listing said "oven" but that was really just a toaster oven/air fryer. There are no built-in appliances in the kitchenette space. No big deal, we didn't really need it. But the listing should probably be very clear about that. We considered picking up a Papa Murphy's pizza on our way to check in but there's no way we would have been able to cook it.
