A piece of heaven in Rumbling Bald, Lake Lure

This is a beautiful, well maintained property. We had 3 of our grown children and 6 of our grandkids. We loved the room we had to spread out and not get in each other's way. With 14 we ate alot so having 3 fridges was wonderful.Loved the amenities of the resort. The pool was enjoyed by all along with the lake and beach.

Great house, great location!

We had family ranging from 2 to 60+ and we all had a great time. The house is beautiful and very spacious! Unfortunately, it rained most of our trip, so we didn't get to enjoy a lot the resort offered. Howewellsaccommodating!

Wonderful Setting

This property is exactly as advertised. Shared by 6 couples and we had a wonderful 4 night stay. We played golf at Apple Valley at Rumbling Bald which is a little challenging but beautiful. We rented a Pontoon on Friday for 4 hours and enjoyed the many different views and beautiful homes on Lake Lure. While there are many things to do we really enjoyed are stay at this fabulous cabin and spent more time there than planned because it was just picture perfect, Our host May was very responsive to questions and needs. A family of 10 to 16 would be very wise to rent this beautiful cabin or 6 couples as we did. A return trip may be in the cards!

Celebrating More than 60 Years of Love

I can't begin to express how truly wonderful our experience was at the Highland Mountain Lodge for my parents' 60th wedding anniversary celebration! From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a special treat. One of the highlights of this fantastic lodge was the abundance of beautiful areas to gather and make memories. The multiple porches provided the perfect spots for our extended family to relax, catch up, and enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Whether it was sipping morning coffee or toasting to my parents' milestone anniversary during the golden hour, each porch offered a unique and unforgettable experience. The entertainment options were top-notch, adding a dash of fun to our celebration. Gathering around the pool table brought out the competitive spirit in all of us and led to laughter-filled evenings. And who could forget the delightful hot tub? It quickly became the go-to spot to unwind after a day filled with activities, soaking our worries away under the twinkling night sky. As for the heart of any family gathering—the kitchen surpassed all expectations. And let's not forget the comfort of the beds! After an eventful day, sinking into the plush and cozy beds was wonderful. Moreover, Mae, the owner, is incredibly friendly and accommodating, ensuring that our stay was nothing short of spectacular. Highly recommend!

Wonderful family retreat

We had the best time at this lake house. Being on the resort was also a major positive since we were traveling with a large family group who at times wanted to do different things. Completely serene and relaxing and the house manager was exceptional in communication. House was fantastic! Zero complaints and highly recommend!

I love staying at a property that's not just beautiful but it makes you feel at home. My family and I loved it so much we wish we could have stayed longer. They had everything we needed and more. We couldn't wait to be back at the cabin after a long day. A perfect place for families who want to retreat to their own space from time to time.

NYE Perfection!

Fantastic property. Clean, comfortable and up to date/current furniture. Kitchen was well stocked! Sharp knives and every gadget we could need. Party of 13 and we were able to cook, eat and hang out with ease. Great entertainment with pool and fooseball. Relax at fire pit or hot tub. Awesome stay! Highly recommend for a beautiful mountain get away!

Spacious house, beautiful views

Great house for a large group, plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and great space for hanging out both indoors and outdoors. Well stocked kitchen for cooking. Felt very private and beautiful views from the multiple levels of porches and large windows in great room. Driveway is very steep and may require four wheel drive in inclement weather.

Beautiful Stay

We had a beautiful stay at this lovely house for my husbands 65th birthday in late August. There were 8-9 of us all week. Plenty of room for everyone to gather on the first floor for games and dining. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked, I brought my oversized cooking vessels, knives etc but did not need too, there were plenty of knives, utensils and large pots and pans to cook for a group. We only asked that our guests each make a dinner one night and no one had any complaints about the kitchen. Except there was a small issue with the k-cups not consistently being pierced properly for coffee. The two extra full sized refrigerator on the lower level allowed for everyone to have plenty of room for what they brought or bought. A sink back up was quickly addressed by May who sent a plumber asap. We really didn't use the fire pits as the heat kept us indoors or on the lake. The front porch was often the spot for cozy chats. We had a great day renting a pontoon boat, and another outing for a VIP tour of Sierra Nevada Brewery in the Asheville area, courtesy of a nephew of one of our crew. Highly recommend that tour! The girls spent a day in Chimney Rock wine tasting and shopping around. My husband spent one day just an hour away at the BMW Drivers School in Spartanburg, SC and loved it! The rest of the time we laid around, went hiking, read books or played games. The beds were very comfortable, no complaints there at all. The amenities in the bathroom were good quality and appreciated. I will say that you can hear others pretty clearly through the walls or ceiling, but we ran a fan in our room and it drowned out any noise. The person taking the bed right off the kitchen might want a white noise machine. This should not detract from anyone renting this house. It is very well done in every way! The location is great, easy to get to the grocery or nearby attractions. Pictures don't really do it justice, it is bigger than it appears and the furnishings are very beautiful, solid and upscale. We loved our stay, thank you May, you have a beautiful property!

Wonderful, clean property in a great location.

Our family enjoyed our week at the property! The resort amenities were enjoyed by all. Kitchen was well stocked with plenty of seating for family meals. Lots of gathering areas inside and out. Lots of games and books to entertain in the evenings and a rainy day. Laundry area was nice and roomy! Communication with property mgmt was always prompt and helpful. Our only complaint would be the mattresses. Several of us experienced sore backs and necks from mattresses with very worn areas. We just napped on the porch swings each afternoon to make up for it! Overall, we had a wonderful week in this beautiful home!

Perfect Place for a Getaway!

This house is awesome! It was clean, well equipped and all of the bedrooms were spacious and had their own baths. We had 11 adults there and there was plenty of space for everyone...there were even enough dining room chairs! The outside was equally impressive with a fire pit, gas logs and beautiful views. We will definitely be back:)

Awesome Property

This property was exactly as described. The kitchen was fully stocked, the bath rooms and bed rooms were clean and very comfortable, the game room was also very well stocked with games and all the grills and fire pits had adequate gas. However, one of the best parts of my experience was the professionalism and quick reply's for the host May. Her help very much made the stay that much better. Best VRBO rep I have ever worked with!!!!!!!!

Beautiful Home

We were a family of 10 looking for a relaxed getaway. This home was perfect- lots of room to spread out. Enjoyed both fire pits and the big play room downstairs. May was quick to respond to any questions! Also enjoyed a day in Chimney Rock Village and the playground on the beach at Rumbling Bald.
