Everyone needs a refuge, and this house is mine. We had a very stressful Fall last year, and when things were at their worst, and I could feel my blood pressure skyrocket, I’d take deep breaths and think about this wonderful cabin on this peaceful mountain. I’d think about the hammock on the wraparound porch, and how I’d burrito myself in blankets and scarves to lay there in the cold, listening to the wind in the trees and the birds chirping. It probably sounds silly, but it really helped to know that we had a trip booked so far ahead of time. It was a light at the end of a very long tunnel. Our family takes refuge at this cabin, and its steadiness and reliability has been an enormous comfort over the years.
