Part of the fun of vacation rentals is seeing a unique home and this home delivered on that and it wasn't "quirky" and awkward. It was a classy place with interesting architecture and finishes that made it fun for our kids to explore. And I found the architecture and finishes to be evocative and classic. But I do have one major negative: I tried to rent only the house, and not the apartment, but even though the listing for just the house said it was available, at the very end of reservation process it said the unit wasn't available. I tried from multiple computers and waited a day and reviewed the calendar of availability very carefully because it seemed definitely like a glitch. The other listing, which was the only one I was able to successfully reserve, said it included an apartment, but there were no pictures or description of this apartment. The apartment was much more space than we needed and we never used it. They just need to fix the listings. A minor complaint is that Vacasa was very slow to respond to a message that I sent about my wife forgetting her slippers. I sent a follow up message the next day, before I got a response, saying that she found them and nevermind. Several days later I got a form message explaining how much it costs to get items mailed. Ridiculous. One last piece of feedback is that I really wish there was a hot tub on that top deck. That would have been the ultimate. But I understand the hassles of owning a hot tub. I love them but I don't personally own one because they are a maintenance nightmare.
I don't want to end with negatives because overall it was a great experience. Just wish we could have stayed longer. We vacation sometimes with another family and this will be the perfect fit for that with the apartment. We would just have to draw straws to see which parents get the studio apartment. :) I want to send my compliments to the owners for a beautiful and interesting home.
