Number 5 is a gorgeous Ambleside holiday cottage less than a 10-minute walk from the vibrant Ambleside Town Centre.
With off-street parking, four stunning bedrooms, spacious open-plan living, dining and kitchen area and outdoor garden space, this detached bungalow is ideal for families or a walking/cycling holiday with friends.
The four bedrooms have been beautifully decorated, and the large windows allow plenty of natural light. One of the double bedrooms benefits from en suite shower facilities, while the remaining three bedrooms have the house bathroom and a separate WC.
The living area is where it all happens - "The Number 5 Social Hub" - where discussions are had about the day's activities, and delicious meals are prepared. On warmer days, why not open the bifold patio doors to enjoy the outdoor space and on colder days, light the fabulous wood-burning stove?
Naturally, not everyone wants to cook while on holiday. Conveniently, the house is just a short stroll to the town centre, where you'll find a fantastic choice of restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Old Stamp House. For the more casual foodies, there's also a selection of pubs offering good pub grub, cafes and restaurants.
ACCOMMODATION SUMMARY All Ground Floor: Entrance hall with space to hang coats, dog leads etc. Open plan living room, kitchen and dining area comprising a large dining table in the centre, comfy sofa seating, a smart TV with streaming apps (own account required), and a wood-burning stove. Kitchen appliances include an induction hob and electric oven, fridge/freezer and dishwasher, kettle, and toaster. Utility/pantry cupboard with shelving and the microwave Bedroom 1 - 4'6 Double bed and en suite comprising a shower, toilet, basin, electric shaver point and a heated towel rail. Bedroom 2 - 3' Twin beds, bedside tables and lamps. Bedroom 3 - 4'6 Double bed, bedside tables, and table lamps. Bedroom 4 - Two sets of 3' bunk beds (Suitable for children only) Bathroom - Bath with shower over, toilet, basin, electric shaver point and heated towel rail. Utility room - Accessed via bedroom 4 - Washing machine, tumble drier, WC with toilet and basin. Exit to the rear garden.
Outside: Front: Small lawn garden with shrubbery, and a paved driveway. Steps to the front door. Rear: Outdoor table and chairs. hosepipe, secure uncovered bicycle storage. Note: There is an external gate to allow you to access the rear garden from the front.
THINGS TO NOTE: Bed linen, towels, services, WiFi and a starter supply of guest consumables and wood for the fire are provided. One dog is permitted. Additional dogs may be accommodated depending on their size and breed. Please contact us to enquire before booking. A travel cot and a high chair are available on request. Space for a travel cot in bedroom 3 only. Off-street driveway parking for up to three cars. Central heating and double-glazed windows throughout. The house is all on one level, but there are 5 steps up to the front door. The bunk beds are suitable for children only. Hen, stag, and noisy parties or events are not permitted. Neither smoking nor vaping is permitted indoors. Charging of electric vehicles is not permitted from any of the property's electrical sockets. Public EV chargers are available in the Ambleside town centre.

Need instructions for cooker it wasn’t obvious you needed to put a pan on the hob to get it going. No washing up liquid provided which most cottages do. But nice property. Clean and well positioned.

Short stay with family
Booked this via VRBO and was forwarded to Hereward Cottages. Upon booking we were under the impression we had 4 bedrooms to use as we pleased - however, we were told (pretty rudely via email) the 4th bedroom was only suitable for children (even though the beds would have easily held a fully grown adult on the bottom bunk). We'd also booked two dogs but didn't check this at time of booking, again, being told pretty rudely 'they would have to check' this was ok (it was btw!).All in all the actual bungalow was lovely, very clean, easy check in, comfy beds, sociable communal area, perfect location on the edge of Ambleside (steep hill to walk up so bare in mind if elderly staying with you).Downside: neighbour complained about parking as we'd left one vehicle half on the road and the path which she said was 'her space for visitors if they wanted to visit for an hour or two'. So please be aware, the driveway is VERY tight for 3 vehicles. (we had a TROC, Nissan Juke and Peugeot 206 and it was a SQUASH!)
