Villa Lauro was paradise on earth! The garden was gorgeous with an incredible view in all directions. The view from the balcony--off the bedroom and living room--was equally gorgeous. The house was quiet and peaceful, close enough to Amalfi to walk to it in 15 minutes, but far enough away from the crowds of tourists to feel almost like a local. There was a market within 10 minutes (by car), and a cafe/pizzeria just a 2-minute walk from the house. Simply put, Villa Lauro was a beautiful home with a gorgeous view: a perfect base to explore the Amalfi Coast. Our only quibbles: the jacuzzi was not a hot tub jacuzzi. It was more like a small pool with jets that had cool water in it, to enjoy on hot summer nights, to cool off. This was NOT a hot tub jacuzzi to warm you up on a chilly autumn night. It was not designed to hold hot water. Simply cool water. So that was a bit disappointing because when I read the word jacuzzi online, I thought it was a hot tub jacuzzi. Also, it was a pity the kitchen didn't have basic cooking items like olive oil and sugar, etc. for coffee. It would be nice to arrive and find just a few basics in the refrigerator, like coffee and milk. That said, there was a lovely bottle of wine left as a gift when we arrived. The kitchen itself was the only room in the house that was less than ideal, as it had no windows. We were glad, however, there was a kitchen area in the garden, which proved very useful, since we had all our meals there. All in all, Villa Lauro is a beautiful home with a garden that is like paradise on a cliff above the sea. Communication with Guilia was excellent and for those who speak very little Italian, she speaks very good English. She was also very kind to get us a porter to carry our bags up and down the stairs on our arrival and our departure. Also very useful was the parking spot Guilia reserved for us (at a small daily cost) very close to the house. Even the parking lot had a stunning view. If you're looking for the perfect home base on the Amalfi Coast, you've found it.
