A wonderful week in Franco's villa. Lovely location - we did the walk up to Montecarlo most days to sample some of the local restaurants and coffee shops - and an easy drive into Altopascio for food shopping. The villa was well laid out for a group of 13 of us ranging from 9 to 49 and pretty well equipped including pool inflatables and sun loungers for the lovely infinity pool. Franco was very helpful and hospitable. Only slight criticisms are that the aircon on the top floor is not really strong enough to support the. 38 degree weather we had, plastic cups would be useful for the kids and around the pool (we picked some up at the supermarket) and an electric car charging point would be amazing as there appear to be a lot locally which don't work!All in all however, a great house and we all had a brilliant time.

This lovely villa is the ideal venue for family gatherings. It is a wonderful location, in rural Tuscany close to Lucca with fantastic views. The host Franco was very helpful and responsive to any concerns .The infinity pool is a perfect size and much enjoyed by all. The villa and annexe were both spotless.

Wonderful family holiday!

We were a family group of 13 & felt the house met all our needs. Franco greeted us warmly and was on hand with lots of help. We loved the beautiful town of Montecarlo, a 20 minute walk away, where we enjoyed our first lunch together & several evenings. Spent an afternoon locally on a vineyard tour which was superb. The villa was brilliantly located for day trips into Lucca, Florence & Pizza. The pool was beautiful and relaxing & enjoyed by the whole group. It was cleaned regularly throughout our stay. Thank you Franco for a fantastic time in you wonderful home

Mostly very good, Agee kitchen bits needed and a car is needed because it is quite remote.but surroundings very so beautiful.

Excellent value for money spacious great pool

The property is divided into a cottage and two large apartments, making it perfect for multi-generational family holidays. Great infinity pool, all at one depth. Air con is in hallways and communal areas, rather than bedrooms, but works effectively. Beautiful gardens and BBQ area. The location is a 10 minute walk from a few restaurants, and a short drive to Montecarlo for a better choice. Franco, the owner, is very attentive and responsive. I highly recommend, and would be very happy to return.

Beautiful house, great host

We stayed one week with our family. House was clean and really spacious with italian history included in interior decoration. Everything in the house functioned well and there wasn’t any problems. Host’s friend Marcello even cleaned the pool every morning. Maybe only difficult thing to get hang of was recycling of the trashes, as it was bit complicated system with specific dates of pick-up for different trashes. But with the help of our host we managed to handle it :) Views from villa were beautiful to both sides, downhill vista to the village of Marginone and valleys, and looking up was medieval village of Montecarlo. Both villages were in walking distance, around 1,5 km. Lastly, our host Franco was such a lovely person and true gentleman! Everything worked with him and he was friendly and helpful. We were celebrating my 50th birthday, and asked Franco could he arrange some kind of birthday dinner for us, and he said of course. Dinner cost us barely anything and we thought he would order some kind of catering for us, but turned out that he was going to cook 4 course dinner for us by himself! Dinner was delicious and something we will remember forever.

Our time in Tuscany

Our time in Tuscany was absolutely wonderful, Franco was such a great host, he had a snack and a beverage waiting for us and it was a pleasure to visit with him. The Villa was so wonderful and we all had a hard time leaving, the adorable little annex was my favourite. We had 4 couples and we each had our own little spaces with our own bathrooms. The pool was refreshing at the end of a hot day and the Restaraunts in Monte Carlo, San Salvatore and Marginone were spectacular. Absolutely loved our Villa, would love to stay again!! Also thankyou Marie at Tuscany retreats for all the arranging of the private Chef and car transfers, she was absolutely wonderful! Sabrina the private Chef and Lucca were wonderful people and the Dinner was amazing!

Amazing place in Tuscany

We had the most amazing time in Franco’s beautiful place. Everything was perfect for 2 families with 11 persons, plenty of space and comfort. Our highlight was the infinity pool with the most beautiful views over the Tuscan countryside. The villa was spacious, elegant and comfortable. Having air conditioning in the bedrooms was an extra bonus. Our 22y old son and his girlfriend slept in the garden house which was also spacious and comfortable with air con. The location is great for visiting Lucca, Florence, Pisa and the seaside. Montecarlo itself was charming with lovely bars and restaurants and it was surprisingly quiet considering it was high season. We loved it there. We can’t thank Franco enough for his kindness and all the great information he gave us. We’d love to come back. Grazie mille!

Superbe demeure toscane

Magnifique gîte, très agréable à partager entre 3 familles amies. Franco est un hôte charmant, volubile et fort accueillant. Ne manquait que quelques ustensiles, éponges et torchons dans la cuisine à l'arrivée.

A week in Tuscany

Our arrival was very early due to a flight change, but Franco did a great job in accommodating us as soon as he could, and welcomed us with drinks and sandwiches. The property lacked nothing, and being split into 3 areas was perfect for a mixture of adults and children. The swimming pool was a must for the very hot weather, and was maintained regularly. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool, and the garden is really nice and has wonderful views. All in all, a great stay.

Bella Toscana

The Villa met all of our expectations, it was private, comfortable & beautiful; as well as being a period building carefully restored by it's original family owner. The location is perfect, being withing walking distance of three villages. There are several choices of restaurants & pizzerias within a short walk. Day trips can be made with ease to Lucca, Pisa & Florence; either by car or by train, the station being 15 minutes walk away.

A perfect Tuscan getaway

A beautiful setting for our Italy adventure. We loved the quiet location that was close to so much. We were not expecting Montecarlo to be so charming. Close to Lucca (a favorite) and some great wineries. The house was beautiful and clean. Pool was lovely and someone came every day to keep it clean. We would definitely consider returning.

Traditional Tuscan Home

This was a very quiet nice old house with a beautiful garden and pool. The location was perfect near a small village of MonteCarlo that was absolutely adorable. It was an easy drive into Florence and surrounded by wineries. In MonteCarlo the food was wonderful and the people were so friendly. The check in process was wonderful and the guys we so sweet and told us all about the property. It's such a nice home and the size was perfect. Unfortunately our family isn't used to only having AC in the bedrooms and even with the AC on it was still very very warm. Our host was nice enough to bring us fans but even with the fans it was still warm. When you open the windows in the main part of the house there are no screens so we had a fun guest join us that we named Sticky Feet (A rather large lizard) but also some not so fun mosquitos that decided to make a meal on us. Over all if you want a traditional Tuscan house with a ton of history this home is for you. Its not for a family looking for all of the modern conveniences of the US.

Perfect location in Tuscany

We planned our family vacation with 14 of us. The pictures don’t do the property justice. There are 3 private areas for sleeping with kitchens. Hanging by the pool is amazing! By car, we were 45 minutes from Florence, 1 hour and 15 minutes from Cinque Terre and only 25 from Pisa. Perfect mid location. There is a small, walled town called Montecarlo s few minutes by car up the road. Lucca, is sbout 20 minutes and offers so much with its walled city, restaurants, activities! The owner was so accommodating and wanted us to enjoy our time. Definitely a great spot for a family or multiple family location!

The house was amazing. Everything you need was there. large yard, good barbecue area, good social room, the pool was clean and looked after every day by a pool guy. 3 min drive from cozy montecarlo, lots of restaurants. grocery stores nearby. Franco the host was so helpful and wonderful. thank you for letting us rent your nice house and making our trip the best

Fabulous short break near MonteCarlo, Tuscany

We had a very relaxing stay, Franco was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful views and outdoor space . Beds extremely comfortable. Lots of room for us to Enjoy. Marginone village has some nice restaurants and MonteCarlo and Lucca were great to visit .

Great time in Marginone

We had wonderful vacations in Marginone. We were 13, the same family. The house is great giving privacy to every couple. The space around the house is huge and the pool large enough for all of us. The owner, Franco, is extremely nice and helpful. The house is a 15m walk or so from Montecarlo which is a beautiful little town where you can go and enjoy any restaurants. A great surprise was the restaurant Marinelli in Marginone. The food is excellent, so is the service. we would definitely recommend this place for a family vacation like we had i.e. grand parents, children and grand children! Lorraine from the agency was very responsive. Thank you Franco - Thank You Lorraine and Thank you to the lovely man who was taking care of the pool but forgot his name (sorry) Elizabeth ad Michael

Til alle aldre

Vi var 15 personer i huset i alderen 4-75. Huset ligger perfekt til en ferie hvor man gerne vil se noget i området samt hygge sig ved poolen. VRBO sørgede for at der kom en kok og lavede mad til os alle til en meget favorabel pris og meget veltilberedt mad fra lokalområdet. Værten var der ved incheckning og var meget behjælpelig med information om området. Han hjalp endda med at finde en lokal vinmager hvor vi kunne komme og fylde vin i dunke samt den mest fantastiske Vino Santo. Der er gå afstand til Montecarlo som er en super hyggelig lille by på toppen af "bakken" dog skal man være ok gående da det er lidt stejlt. Der var airconditioning på alle etager samt i Annekset. Der er intet vi kan sætte en finger på. Vi havde en fantastisk uge og håber på et gensyn ;) mvh Morten Thyrsted
