The property is being renovated, nearly finished downstairs and very nice. The staff are very good, friendly and helpful. Wi fi is good. Dinner and breakfast is fine and served without a long wait.We would stay again, as it is central and has a nice beer garden, which would be very nice in hot weather. Thank you Dusty and Allan.

Do not book this hotel. We have stayed in many hotels over the years and this had been by far the worst. Dirty, unkempt and in desperate need of an . The vertical blinds in the bathroom were missing slats allowing people across the street to look right in. After complaining the staff fix was to put a towel across the window, blocking out any light. One of our bath towels had a large rip in it. Absolutely unbelievable

Excellent facilities, excellent food, particularly the Indian restaurant. Friendly and obliging staff. Superb beer garden and good well kept ales. Stairs and landing carpet could do with a makeover, other than that excellent.

Plus points: Excellent location. Quirkiness. Excellent cooked breakfast. In the process of being refurbished - comfortable at the moment, but needs redecorating.

The room seems to be part way through some renovations but the walls still need painting. The bathroom had a major leak so the floor was always wet a d we had to use multiple towels to stop it spreading into the rest of the room. The staff were extremely polite and as helpful as possible with the issue. We had room 33 and the window looked into an internal alcove which was invaded by pidgeons which were quite noisy at 6am and smelt weird. There is no onsite parking

The staff of just two were helpful and kind. The establishment is v tired and run down; it requires total refurbishment which would, hopefully, eliminate the pervasive musty smell.

It looked on the surface a lovely hotel. Sadly when up close, the rooms were not finished off properly, seals around doors, bathroom, floor, pieces of wood instead of door stops. Bulding rubble in the decked beer garden. The good bones are there but needs finished properly and cleaned regularly, a lot of dust. Need more staff. It could be lovely with a bit if TLC

Bad hotel. The person on duty was very slow and inefficient. He was not present in the morning when we needed to check out. The rooms were not clean and there were bed bugs in one bed. We got the bites to prove it. There was blood on some of the walls. I would suggest anyone staying here.

Room wasn't cleaned at all, all sorts of used items under the bed that did not belong to us, broken tiles on bathroom floor didn't allow to walk on it barefoot, shower was from hot to extremely hot, cobwebs all over the place. Awful state of the property, ell of damp everywhere, we had to leave after first night, it was unbearable to stay any longer

Read reviews after booking this last minute - wanted to cancel as they were so poor but couldn't without losing what we'd paid. Went with low expectations but were pleasantly surprised. The room wasn't sparkling but it was clean enough. Bed linen and towels were clean. Cups less so. No teaspoon in room or sockets for the kettle. We managed. Staff largely absent and both check in and out were peculiar experiences but when we did interact with staff they were friendly enough. Spooky reviews unfounded for room 8 and we all slept peacefully enough. No parking but village and beach conveniently accessible.

Why you have this hotel on your web site is beyond me. It is a large hotel about 20 rooms run by 2 people one in his 40's and the other in his late 20's. The staff were very pleasant but they were overworked. The 40 year old man told me he was the manager, he was also reception, chef (not in proper cooking attire) barman and general dogs body. The young man was obviously not trained in housekeeping but this was his job along with many others. The breakfast was not very nice and we paid about £23 each for it - it was all very cheap produce. I think for £400 for 3 nights we were overcharged.

Honestly, had I been travelling alone, I don’t think I would have stayed. On arrival, the hotel appeared deserted and the main door was locked. After several minutes of banging, the only staff member on duty eventually appeared. When I asked about the advertised free parking, he pointed to where I had stopped on the street, partly on double yellow lines. Despite my concerns about parking illegally, he insisted it was fine and simply shrugged when I challenged him. Needless to say, I moved my car! To his credit, he kindly helped carry our bags up four flights of stairs, although the room number he gave us didn’t match the one on our key card. Another shrug! The corridors were cold and musty, and he began telling us the top floor was haunted. I quickly stopped him as I was already feeling uneasy enough! The bedding and towels were clean, but the entire building desperately needed decorating, updating and some TLC. Despite advertising breakfast, lunches and hearty meals, we never saw anyone eating there. The building looked like a welcoming pub from outside, but with a locked, keypad-operated entrance, I have no idea how passing customers were supposed to get in. A very strange and unsettling experience. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

Whilst the only two staff were nice enough, there was hardly ever anybody there. The bedding was clean. I didn’t eat there at all due to awful reviews which I didn’t see till after I’d booked for four nights. On my second night water came down from the ceiling into my room had to put the bin underneath to catch the water. This came as no surprise to them. When I mentioned it I was handed the phone to speak with the manager who was very brief and unapologetic. I felt sorry for the lad who appeared to be by himself for most of the time. It was tricky to have a conversation as he was unable to understand. He was nice though. I note the hotel has had some awful reviews and weirdly a couple of excellent ones that in no way reflect the state of the place! Would advise reading reviews first before booking unlike me. Had I been able to afford to stay somewhere else I would have done. I gather people have previously requested refunds to no avail. Won’t be going back.
