Disgruntled and Unaccommodating Host
After checking in a mirror fell on my son's head because it was not attached to the closet wall. I texted the Host and suggested that she mount all mirrors since every room was the same way. The following day there was an issue with the toilet in the first room; when you sat on it, it moved from side to side, and water covered the floor, causing a slipping hazard. I reached out to the Host again and mentioned this to her. She appeared upset that I had brought these things to her attention. Finally, I contacted the Host about whether the dryer was working, and she said there was a clothesline to use. That was the last straw because she had the property manager come by to inform us that we had 24 hours to vacate the house. We travel all the time and have never had an experience like this. We were foreigners in a foreign land (I sent her a message asking her to give us a least 28 hours because we would be homeless, but she never responded) so we had to find a place immediately. In addition, she didn't want to give us back our money, VRBO worked with us and we ended up getting back 2/3 of the money. So renter beware, if you find things wrong don't complain the Host will kick you out with only a 24-hour notice. I'm just grateful the grandchildren weren't with us.

Pamela, the least you can do is to give a review with facts that can easily be checked. I am so glad that after you kept asking that I communicate with you on your personal phone I insisted on communicating with you on the vrbo message channel as required by Vrbo. You stayed on my property for 4 nights. I allowed/accommodated you to Check in early Wed April 10th at no extra cost and you left Sunday April 14th.-(Verifiable) I charged you for just 3 nights instead of the 4 nights you actually stayed. So who cheated who here? Please do the math. There are two washing machines on my property, one in perfect condition. If you took the time to look at the machines you would not call or mislabel a washing machine for a dryer. My listing clearly list our clothes dryer as outdoors not a drying machine. The mirrors you mention are in a locked closet. You claim your adult son unlocked the closet pulled out the mirror and it suddenly hit his head.(allegedly). Yet you refused for my caretaker to come in and review and clean the room. In your own words, you had taken care of everything. You state in your review “ the following day , you reported a malfunction in one of the toilet” - Fact - you reported an issue with the same son’s room who broke the mirror on Saturday the 13th- not the “next day” after your stay. You left out a very important detail here. As soon as you mentioned the toilet issue we asked to come over and fix it , however you claimed for religious reasons you will not allow us to come on our own property until the next day to fix an alleged toilet leak. Again it’s in your vrbo messages. So in other words you want our property to have a leak for 24 hours and not fix it!! by imposing your religious beliefs on us. Please tell me what host will allow this to happen on their property. You seem to have forgotten other messages you left me that our gas stove was not working and yet when my caretaker travelled to get there you told him you had just finished boiling an egg and everything was fine. Again you have also failed to mention that after we entrusted you with my home keys , without our consent you gave our home keys to a driver who was not part of the staying guests . Again it’s in your vrbo messages. We had to replace our locks after you left for security reasons. The list just goes on.. but I will just stop here and remind you again that it is very important that when you give a review get your facts straight. Please learn to live in truth. I informed you via vrbo messages (very verifiable) that I had spoken to Vrbo about my host right and have decided to give you 24 hrs to vacate my property after you refused to have us come and verify the leak. It' again in your messages. This message was not initially through my caretaker but rather via vrbo messages. Ironic how "foreigners" assume locals are not intelligent enough to know or exercise their rights and therefore subject them to unfair treatment. If there was truly a leak that was such a hazard why would you not let us review and fix immediately and why plead to stay there for 28 more hours !!!! You call yourself a "foreigner in a foreign land" but at the same time you are on public social media talking about how you have now become "one of us" because you bought yourself property in Ghana and love this country so much. Please make up your mind about who you claim to be.
