For the opera: if you sit in the cement seating area, you'll need cushions. Even the 3 Euro cushions (inside, for a donation), will flatten quickly. Small snacks and small disposable plastic bottled water were OK. Backpacks (even small ones) had to be checked--and by checked, I mean left in a small, common cage at the entrance you came through. Same goes for reusable water bottles.
