Great location and unit overall. The shower was a bit disappointing after a few days hiking without a shower however this was explained on the instructions inside once we checked in (although we only read this detail once the shower went cold). I can’t remember if it was advertised as having permanent residents upstairs, however there are.

Honestly would not have booked this accom if I had known that there is no bathroom or laundry…there is a shower in the hallway with just a shower curtain…and the bedrooms have bathroom sinks. The washing machine sits in the same hallway… We also were under the impression we would have the whole house, not realising it was a 2 story unit, so the second unit is on the top floor and people were living there… I saw them and heard them frequently. House was cleaned ok, however heaps of cobwebs were visible. The windows for the toilet and shower do not close properly letting heaps of bugs in. Was disgusting showering with them. Lounge area and kitchen was great, bed was comfy, fire was so lovely to have and kept us warm. Definitely a cute and quirky house in a fantastic location but wouldn’t stay here again.

Great Place
We spent three weeks in New Zealand. This was our favorite place. It is a pleasant short walk to town. I like to swim, and was able to just walk across the street and jump into cold clear water. The house is very comfortable, homey and well cared for. Great view of the water from the patio. Friendly owner.

We enjoyed the Absolute Lakefront unit and would stay again if we found ourselves headed to Wanaka. It was comfortable and a good location for Mt. Aspiring NP. The location was quieter than we expected, easy to access with a view of the lake from the front door. We enjoyed hiking to the Mt. Aspiring hut - the Google lies, it does not take 2 hours to get to the trailhead, unless you're terribly distracted by the scenery. Other hiking opportunities abounded. The shower curtain made us smile (the perfect kind of quirky) ;-)

I get people are generous when taking photos but this was a joke. The very second photo shows the whole house and the description says you have the entire home which is a complete lie as you only have the bottom half of the property and the top half is either rented or lived in and you can hear all their footsteps, music and conversions. It says there is a bathroom when there is not, what you get is a toilet, seperate shower which is good for one short shower and the vanity is in the master bedroom?! The shower has no extract which it should have and the steam sets off the smoke alarm as there is no door just a shower curtain and you can reach the non water proof light switch for the shower whilst standing in the shower covered in water, as an electrician I can tell you both of these things are not up to code not to mention the vanity in the master bed should also have an extract due to having hot water. Not only that the laundry they claim to have is a washing machine literally in the hallway. They did not claim to have one but there is no air conditioning so when it’s hot you have to open all the doors and windows. I picked this place as it was described as being the entire place if I’d known there were people upstairs I would have just stayed in a hotel for the same price and would have gotten a hot tub and pool to use. This is shameful not even close to what is shown and advertised.

Superb location
Set on a quiet road. Short, lakeside walk into town. Well equipped. Great view. We especially enjoyed being able to do some great, lakeside walks without having to drive anywhere.

Old and Quirky Indeed!
This property is described as old and quirky. I agree with the old part, but quirky has a positive connotation that we did not experience. A better description is bizarre! When we arrived after 3pm the house hadn't been cleaned - dirty sheets on the bed, dirty towels on the washing machine, rubbish left, dirty carpets and toilet! We were not impressed. I contacted the owner. First she blamed the cleaners, then she said someone must have broken in and left the mess. I told her I would take phots to show her, which I did. Then she forgot people were there before us and her sister would have to come to clean. We had to go into town for 1 hour and 30 minutes. When we returned almost 2 hours later, the sister was still cleaning. We finally settled in and then had a problem with the upstairs tenant. We were relaxing in the backyard when she came and tried to put our chairs away. We said we weren't done with them yet. She was very rude to us! You won't need an alarm clock either because these tenants wake up at 6:15am every morning and are very loud. The property is not like its description. It is not absolute lakefront but across the road and down a hill from the lake with cars parked along the road obstructing the view. The bedrooms are small. If you are too big you won't fit in the toilet or the shower. But if you are too small you can't reach the microwave perched on top of the fridge. Furniture is old and dishes are mis-matched. No hair dryer. A bad experience for us in Wanaka!

Having just walked the Arrowtown to Wānaka section of the TA with my family it was a perfect place to stay, handy to town. We were able to get all the washing and organizing done for the next section right next to the trail! Yes quirky but everything you need and incredible views.

Stunning Location
We absolutely loved our stay here. We could quite easily have sat and watched the view change throughout the day but we did manage to get out. Easy walk into the town. The property was as listed and we wouldn’t have changed a thing about it.

Very quirky property so not for those expecting modern! We loved the location and the amenities at the house were excellent. Everything you could possibly need to ensure a comfortable stay. Right across from the Lake so views stunning and short walk to the beautiful town of Wanaka.

Unique apartment
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the lake front apartment. For us it was like travelling back in time with all the retro furnishings and equipment. If you’re looking for a luxury apartment then this isn’t for you. If you enjoy quirkiness, then this rates 100%. Would definitely return if ever in this area. Little disappointed
The house requires some updating if it is to be rented out. I understand leaving it as is if used for personal holiday bach but not if renting out. We booked for 4 people and two of the single beds were not made up. Subsequently, someone came around and dropped off bed linen and towels for the two people but we had to make up the beds. Washing machine outside is not ideal and was dusty and dirty. The property as a whole externally is not appealing and does not look well kept. However, we enjoyed our time in Wanaka, just underwhelmed with the property.

An outstanding old-fashioned bach in truly one of the best locations in Wanaka, and it must be one of the last properties of its kind on the waterfront. The unit retains its retro charm but also has everything you'd need for an extended stay. And the fire! The fire! The lake/mountain views are as advertised, truly beautiful, and really no photos can actually do it justice. Dream location, a comfortable 10-minute walk into the town centre or a two-minute drive. Based on previous reviews we were interested to see the shower/bathroom situation, but it really wasn't a problem. Yes, it's somewhat basic but it's totally fine to get by for a few days. If a luxurious bathroom is your top priority go pay four times the price and enjoy a generic hotel room that looks just the same as everywhere in the world. We just loved it, and feel really fortunate to have experienced the type of traditional stay that Kiwis have been able to enjoy for generations. The only shame was we were only there for three nights, would have loved to stay there for longer.

A strange layout but a cute quirky batch.
The fire is amazing, you are hot in 10 min. There is no bathroom as such, you brush your teeth in the sinks in the bedroom. Great location, amazing view.

First impression didnt match our great experience. Icebox cold on arrival but once the fire was lit and the rooms warmed up it became our sanctuary. Fabulous lakeside walk across the road...thank you so much for providing pet friendly accommodation in Wanaka

We are pleased your stay worked out well. We do not live in Wanaka so can’t have fire going on guest arrival. But as you know it takes no time to heat our little unit up to become a very cosy relaxing haven.

Fantastic location with views across Lake Wanaka
Great views and just across the road to the lake. Bach is a classic original, very retro, with heaps of character. Had everything we needed and sunny places to sit outside during the day and evening. Definitely plan to stay again.

Classic style accommodation, clean & tidy, great fire. I didn't read all the fine print however I did expect a hairdryer, shampoo & body wash, and more than 1 hand towel and more than 2 rolls of toilet paper for a family staying 3 days.

Quirky 60s house but not a good place for winter. No bathroom only a shower cubicle with no extractor fan. When -3 degrees outside it's very cold opening the window. Only one heater for two bedrooms. Log burner worked well though but it got very cold overnight.

Beautiful views and cosy comfy bach
Very clean, excellent location, loved all the quirky old fashioned furniture! Only downside, which wasn’t a huge issue, was the fact that there’s a long term tenant in the upstairs section. We jumped a few times, as it seemed like there was furniture getting moved and dragged across the floor. We enjoyed our stay , very close to Wanaka town.
