Great Location and Spotty Service
The location of this hotel was perfect for me and the price was right. However, the room was in poor condition (some of the electric outlets didn't work, shower leaked, blinds falling apart) and the service was spotty. I felt mistreated as a woman and as someone who is not yet fluent in Spanish. The hotel staff attended to men (at breakfast and front desk) first and I was even completely ignored at the front desk when a man approached after my conversation had already begun. I'm not sure if the hotel staff just needs more training or if this is Ecuadorean culture. I've traveled a lot around the world, and this one of the most blatant experiences of sexism I've ever experienced in a hotel.

Tuve una grata experiencia en el Hotel San Sebastian de Quito, supieron estar pendientes de mi llegada llamándome y confirmando mi cita. Adicional cuando llegue fueron muy amables en recibirme y brindarme indicaciones de como dirigirme a ciertos lugares de Quito. El hotel estaba como a dos cuadras de la Plaza Foch (zona roja de Quito) lo cual fue super bueno porque es un lugar super transitado y donde los restaurantes están abiertos hasta bien tarde, lo cual nos sirvió luego de salir tarde del concierto. El hotel es super limpio, la habitación super cómoda, tienen todo equipado, cuenta con wifi, cable, calefacción y el desayuno es impresionante. Si algún día viajan a quito se los recomiendo a ojos cerrados. I had a pleasant experience at the Hotel San Sebastian in Quito, they knew how to be aware of my arrival by calling me and confirming my appointment. When they arrived, they were very kind to receive me and give me directions on how to go to certain places in Quito. The hotel was about two blocks from the Plaza Foch (red zone of Quito) which was very good because it is a super busy place and where the restaurants are open until very late, which served us after leaving the concert late. The hotel is super clean, the room super comfortable, they have everything equipped, it has wifi, cable, heating and the breakfast is impressive. If someday they travel to Quito, I recommend them with closed eyes.

Great Service, good location
We arranged an airport pickup through the hotel. Our driver was wonderful and very helpful. The hotel staff were all great. Breakfast was good. We loved the location on the edge of the new town action. Very safe neighborhood. Close to banks, convenience stores, great restaurants. Overall a good value.

Older but great value and service.
This is an older motel, about 30 years but very nice and clean with great help and service. Bars and restaurants are close. Lots of little local shops for the tourist Restaurant in the motel was convenient and sufficient . They are in the process of renovating afew floors. Marcelo, at the front desk, was probably the most cordial and helpful people I have ever met. When I return to Quito I will stay here.

Very good hotel, located in a perfect position
I love this hotel. It's fantastic in so many ways. The ONLY downside is that there are no woollen or cotton blankets. I have difficulty sleeping in any artificial bedding and the bedding was pure acrylic. But, lovely staff, great location and it just has such a nice 'vibe'.

Wouldn't eat in the hotel restaurant
We were in transit from Quito to Galapagos islands, and we don't speak Spanish. There is a very friendly staff that speaks sufficient English who also serves as tourist guide for fees, and you need to book days/weeks ahead (we did not get him). The hotel restaurant is great for breakfast, but a waiter/receptionist for dinner understands nothing in English. The worst is that he just sat in front and did not try attending to us or other guests. Even for water/drinks, it took him a long time just to come around. The restaurant was not busy at all for dinner time. I don't understand what he was there for. The food was so so as well. So will definitely not recommend here for dinner.

Two short stays
We had 2 separate stays, one a transit, and the other we had a day in Quito. For the transit stay, the service was outstanding, staff got up early to provide breakfast before we went to the airport. But it was a long trip back & forth to the airport just to sleep for a few hours. Staff was amazing - very attentive and helpful, it was great for our day in Quito. So I give the hotel high marks, but if you're just making a transit stop, you should look closer to the airport.

Pleasant stay, nice environment
Lodging with style, nice and ample lobby well furnished with the reception staff always attentive and cordial. The elevator could be improved and the rooms culd take an overhaul, although nothing major. The hotel is located in a safe and good area of Quito near lots of restaurants and discos, but it is not the most central or convenient location for transportation.

Two short stays
We had one very short stay between flights, and a second that gave us one day in Quito. ONE WARNING: If you have a short transit stay (as we did on our first one), it is 30-45 minutes each way for the round trip from airport <> hotel, and you will probably be better off staying close to the airport. But for a stay in the city, it was great. We were very impressed with the attentiveness and helpfulness of all the staff. We got up around 4 AM on 2 of our 3 mornings, and there was breakfast available for us. The bellhops were very helpful with suggestions for things to do in Quito, and arranging transportation. The room was comfortable, and the food was quite good. We were very happy with our stays.

So many pleasant surprises here!
Beautiful hotel with old architecture and good charm. Our junior suite faced the mountains and city of Quito and two entire walls were windows. The room was clean and had a wrap around balcony. The bed was hard as a rock, but the pillows were amazing. The hotel staff was incredibly helpful, from a bellman bringing in our bags from the taxi, to the front desk people speaking English, to letting us check in early and storing our bags for a full day after we checked out. They even provide maps and called a taxi for us. But the highlight was that we told them it was our honeymoon and they brought us fresh fruit and chocolate to dip! Lastly, do NOT miss the hotel's restaurant. Was pretty fancy but incredibly worth it. Less than $15/plate for dinner. Our breakfast was included, and had omelets made to order and a good variety of other options. Would definitely stay here again!

Good quality hotel
The decor of the hotel is quite old fashioned, but it is very well maintained and extremely clean. The restaurant was excellent, especially for evening meals. A quiet location for the Plaza Foch area.

THE ROOM FOR ONE I STAYED IN WAS PERFECT. VERY CLEAN, SMALL BUT JUST RIGHT FOR ONE PERSON AND COMFORTABLE. THE HOTEL STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THE HOTEL IS IN A GOOD AREA AND HAS GOOD SECURITY. I WILL BE BACK!!!!!!!!

Great Place to Stay
Quito and Hotel Sebastian were wonderful. The breakfast had great variety and someone to cook eggs to order. The maids cleaned the room well and left bottled water each day. The staff did everything we asked in an efficient manner. One of the two elevators broke, but it was returned to service shortly. We would definitely stay there again. Our compliments to the hotel and staff.

Great little hotel
We ordered airport pickup from the hotel - and the driver was waiting, very nice and efficient. we arrived at 6 am and they were able to provide our room right away, no extra charge - we were delighted because we were very tired, having flown all night. Maybe they didn't want us sleeping in the lobby??!! The hotel is very convenient to great places in Quito, the staff are very helpful and the rooms comfortable.

Excellente!
Just loved this hotel! Right in the tourist area of Quito, lots of restaurants of all types around, very elegant and even though our Spanish is very limited, the staff were so helpful and friendly,it was not a problem. We booked a junior suite which was enormous and very comfortable; definately a " stay again" hotel.

Room was super nice. But... A friend from Quito came over for like 90 minutes and had to register. The hotel charged 15$ when I checked out because "visitors should be met in the lobby". What a rip-off.

Nice, beautiful, clean hotel with excellent staff
The hotel is well maintained with lovely details throughout. The location is in the heart of the city and fun Fosh (Overflowing with restaurants and night life), walking distance, yet removed from any street noise and we had a gorgeous mountainside view with balcony from our room. The hotel is peaceful and serene and the staff was extremely courteous, kind, friendly and helpful. They even expedited the cleaning of a room so we could check in early off our grooling Red eye flight. The amazing room rate includes a wonderful breakfast buffet in the lovely restaurant attached to the lobby, complete with an omelet bar. It was so nice, we felt as if after our complimentary breakfast, the room was free. We were so pleased with our experience at the Sebastian Hotel, we walked in as customers, but left as friends. We highly recommend and will absolutely return.

This hotel is very comfortable and offers a tasty buffet breakfast (hot and cold options). Most staff were very friendly and helpful. 930 is a bit early for the restaurant to close, however!

Nice older hotel in La Mariscal
Suggest getting a room on the back side of hotel, front rooms overlooking the street can be somewhat noisy late night/early morning. Otherwise, location is ideal for visiting the La Mariscal district. Great staff, always helpful, and very friendly. Car parking is at least a block away, and spaces are very tight. Super Italian restaurant only a block away. Will definitely consider staying here in the future.

A Respite in Quito
four days - too brief - but the hotel's comforts and location helped me make the most of my stay. Huge buffet breakfast each morning w eggs any style prepared to order, lovely selection of fresh fruit, cereal and breads. Hotel's restaurant (Le Mistral) very good, popular, small bar. All staff very helpful, courteous, English always available. Room had a small balcony over fairly quiet street, views of the mountains beyond. Great that Ecuador uses US currency - no need to change money or always calculate what I was spending!

The good, the bad, the ugly!
THE GOOD: I was able to check in at 10:30AM, the room was super spacious for three adults and one child, very clean, stocked with bottled water and with a wonderful view of the city, it was stunning at night. The neighborhood was nice, quiet, and clean. The bathroom was outdated but clean and functional. The breakfast was delicious, stocked with a nice variety of items such as fresh coffee, eggs, fresh bread, fruits, and the tables were set with clean linens. It was self service. The free WiFi throughout the hotel was excellent. Check out was fast and courteous. I think I could stay there again. THE BAD: I called two weeks in advance to request a taxi to be waiting for me at the airport. The person who answered the phone –a woman - was very nice - friendly and polite. She told me that the taxi was $30.00 and she took my flight and arrival date information. In that conversation I also asked if I could leave my suitcases at the hotel upon arrival since check in was at 2PM. She said that if my room was ready I could use it right away. I arrived at the airport and nobody was waiting for me. I called the hotel and the person who answered said that there was not information about me requesting a taxi and being picked up at the airport but he was going to send somebody. I waited 30 minutes, made two more calls to the hotel but nobody arrived. I travel extensively for business and leisure and I like to have somebody waiting for me at the airport to avoid confusion and waste of
