Amazing cabin with amazing views
This cabin is awesome. The views are breathtaking. By far the best views I’ve ever had staying in a short term rental. We saw numerous elk in the valley below in the evening, which was a pleasant surprise. There were even binoculars provided so that we could get a better look at them. The host was also very responsive and easy to communicate with throughout the entire process. I’m already thinking about when me and my family can come back.

Relaxing and Fun!
The views from this cabin are truly spectacular. The view of the valley below especially at sunset is breathtaking. There are several spacious decks and patios plus games and activities that made our stay both relaxing and super fun. Amazing Stay.

Wow!
We've stayed at a lot of places in Pine/Strawberry, but this was, by far, our favorite. Susan is the most amazing host and super accommodating. Beds were comfortable, great views from the deck, life-size scrabble board, shuffleboard...this place has it ALL!!

Great getaway
At first me and my friends were slightly disappointed as we really wanted to have a campfire outside but due to the time of year we were not able to do this. However, the property and view were absolutely spectacular and we were able to have a phenomenal time. The towns of Pine and Strawberry is definitely my favorite area of Arizona and this property has been one of my favorites to stay at. Highly recommended.

Sorry you didn't use the fire pit (propane), but we really can't have actual campfires in the area due to drought situation. But in the end, I am so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and appreciate the recommendation!

Unbelievably beautiful
The views alone make this a must stay. But the thoughtfulness the hosts put into stocking the cabin really separate this from anything else you could find for the price. It’s so comfortable, well-appointed, and welcoming that you won’t want to leave. In fact, we decided to stay an extra day/ night! Susan is ridiculously responsive and considerate! Beautiful location with many elk and deer sightings, gorgeous sunsets and snow still dusting the landscape- it was a picture postcard of a mountain getaway! Close to restaurants, wine tasting, provisions for meals, etc. Don’t miss the PieBar!

Amazing!

Best Views!
We had the most amazing stay here with our pups! We are huge “view” people and this place was an 11/10 for the views—just beautiful all around the cabin. The place was very dog friendly and our pups had the best time. Susan was wonderful-very helpful and accommodating. We can’t wait to come back and stay!

Another great visit

Great fall getaway
Susan has a beautiful cabin in a panoramic setting. The sunsets were stunning. The small towns of Strawberry and Pine were fun to explore. Lots of nearby hiking trails. It was nice to be able to bring our dog too!

Autumn Awesomeness
The views from this cabin are spectacular. The pictures on the site are the reason we rented this home, and they did not disappoint! Such a beautiful view of the valley and many changing leaves. The beds were really comfortable with wonderful linens! The kitchen, well-appointed and lovely! Our group consisted of guests in their 70s and 80s and all the steps were a lot especially at the altitude of the cabin. Overall, a truly magical experience!

Wonderful home & hosts!!
Golden Elk is absolutely wonderful! The house is decorated in a very warm and inviting manor and the layout is perfect for those traveling with family and/or kids. The cabin is so cute and cozy yet has so much room for everyone! The patios and views are incredible and we were pleasantly surprised to see there’s even a little greenery area for dogs/kids to run around! Susan was a gracious and lovely host and extremely responsive! We loved our stay and can’t wait to return!!

Spacious, Fun Getaway for our Family!
This was our second time staying here. We love the house - spacious, close to a lot of things, fun for all with the 2 game rooms, and we love the decks. We have already recommended it to several friends. The owner is very responsive as well.

Perfect Getaway
This property is the perfect getaway. The house is the best equipped vacation rental ever. It’s also one of the cleanest. The views are peaceful and vast. We just loved our stay. Susan is a wonderful host. She’s an excellent communicator. We never left the house all weekend. Don’t even consider if you can’t do stairs. We’ll definitely rent again.

Family Fun
We had a great stay and always enjoy running away to Strawberry any chance we get. The kiddos loved the scrabble board ❤️The layout of the home is perfect if you have older kids that want to “get away” from their parents for a bit. 🤣😂

We had a wonderful time in Strawberry and one of the things that made it great was staying at the Elk Lodge. Susan your place is wonderful, lots of things to do, play games, relax on one of the two decks the views are amazing . The beds are very comfortable. One I will definitely use again
Susan was great to work with. She was very quick to respond. This cabin was so beautiful and cleanest we have ever stayed at. It was peaceful (only had one neighbor who kept yelling but it was on last night) and relaxing. We decided at last minute to rent the property so we cpuld get out of heat when our son came to town. We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra night. Definitely saving this property for the future. If you stay here I definitely recommend you try PieBar.. was delicious..

Peaceful retreat
We were looking to escape the heat of Phoenix and spent a long weekend enjoying the cooler weather, the peaceful area, the elk that were literally right off of the deck in the backyard. The house is beautifully decorated inside and has everything you need to enjoy a getaway. We had a great time in the game room. Love the wall mounted scrabble game so much! We definitely recommend this beautiful spot.

Excellent stay as always!
This is the third time we have stayed at golden elk and as usual it was fantastic. Susan is a wonderful and gracious host. Her communication is fantastic and the decks of her house are so peaceful. Love being able to have a drink of coffee or glass of wine out on the deck. We will continue to return as this has become our go to place to stay in strawberry. Thank you Susan!!

Such a beautiful place!
First of all - this cabin was beautiful, and the views from the balcony were even better! I admit I searched this property on Zillow and the owners did an amazing remodel on this home. Very nice and comfy furniture throughout, lots of beautiful decor (and I'm a home decor addict). I could tell there was a lot of thought put into getting this place together. The host left a very detailed binder with not only details about the cabin, but information about the area and things to do around there. We saw lots of wildlife (elk, javelinas, even a fuzzy tarantula!) and spent the majority of our stay outside on the balcony enjoying the view or in the garage shooting pool and throwing darts. The garage door opens up to show the beautiful view as you play and it's just breathtaking. The pool table is custom - made out of an older model Mustang GT! We enjoyed every moment of our stay here, and our 8-year-old learned to play shuffleboard, shoot pool, and throw darts. This is a place for entertainment, the perfect hangout spot! We even brought our fur babies along and they loved it as well, even they would sit on the balcony and just stare, seemingly enjoying the beautiful views. The Golden Elk was the perfect place for our family getaway - we're already thinking about staying again and we just left two days ago!

The most amazing weekend!

2nd time is a charm..as well
We were fortunate to have the amazing hosts call us last week to tell us they had a last minute opening. we jumped at it since our experience last year was amazing. This trip did not disappoint. warm environment, beautiful furnishings and views and an amazing kitchen with every utensil ever needed! We hiked, barbqued, watched tv, enjoy wine and other spirits (!) and relaxed!!I recommend this property for couples and families. The owners are wonderful property 'managers,' and always available. enjoy friends!!!

Just a Comfortable excellent place
We found the place to be an excellent house with all the amenities needed and more. The coffee station was simply the best and we use VRBO a lot! The house was perfectly set up with two large outside decks that offered outstanding views. Susan stayed in touch with us and made sure we were in good hands without interfering with our stay. We appreciate her (and her significant other?) very much as their hospitality was just so welcoming and good! This will be a repeat location for us.

All I can say is WOW
What a wonderful cabin, and the property manager is just as wonderful. Before we even left, there was great communication with the property manager, she was very nice and accommodating. Upon arrival, we were blown away with the location of this beautiful cabin, once we got inside it just got better and better, walking in, there was a great smell that made you feel at home and comfortable (some cabins we have been to are a little stinky due to age, etc.) you walk down a few stairs and come into a big beautiful kitchen and immediately look out the back patio over the valley below, everything was covered in snow and looked like a movie village, it was AMAZING. There is a well stocked coffee/hot chocolate bar right off the kitchen by the dining room that was very convenient, the living room was good size with comfortable seating. the decor was all great and made us feel at home. the master bedroom was on the same floor as the kitchen and living room which was really nice. Going downstairs leads to the game room/bar and two large bedrooms and one more full bathroom, everything was well stocked and very clean. the game room was really comfy, we loved the shuffle board table, (now we need to get one for home haha) i had a blast beating the kids at it lol. There are two decks to enjoy the unbelievable views from, the lower deck is HUGE, lots of seating for everyone, one of the mornings we were lucky enough to see a group of Elk visiting the yard and pass through, they were so beautiful. If you are looking for a clean comfortable cabin with amazing location and views, dont hesitate to book the Golden Elk, you wont regret it, we will definitely be back, you just cant beat the location, its close to bars, food, stores, etc all within a few miles away. we made our way downstairs to the other

Everything Was Great
Everything was great and this rental is an excellent place for a relaxing stay. The views and the surrounding area are wonderful and the owner provides all the information needed for a peaceful stay. You may have noticed elsewhere that the house was once owned by Wonder Woman. After a thorough and extensive search, (as any male of a certain, older, age would be expected to undertake upon learning of such information) no sign of Wonder Woman was found on the premises. No golden lasso or bracelets...No invisible plane. Oh reality... Perhaps her reputation still is known in the area because no super villains were seen either. Enjoy your time at this beautiful rental.
