Three day stay in May 2024. The first night, the thermostat burned out. It burnt a hole thru the actual device on the wall and smoke and burning smells filled the room. This happened at 330am. We had to open all the windows and leave the room, when there was no maintenance to repair this issue. The smoke detector did not go off and it should have in this case. That was also just as surprising as the thermostat melting on the wall. We went to the manager who after an hour in the lobby got us another room at 430. We had to repack and unpack our bags etc. . No upgrade or willingness to refund us the nights. Manager stated each room was owned individually and so they didn’t have the ability to refund us for the stay other than hotel amenity fee charges worth $150. No offer to place us in a neighboring hotel, cited they don’t have relationships with them. Absurd! Literally inhaled burning plastic for 1/2 hr and nothing was done or reached out to us to ensure our stay was corrected or comped for the poor visit. Eventually we did get acknowledge that there was an issue but not during our stay, as we were checking out. There was not decent comp for the experience and management was not true hotel management, it was below average staff that seemed challenged by several simple client requests that we witnessed while awaiting support. Disappointing as this hotel was once superb a decade ago under Marriott company. pool and spa are not well maintained, lack of maintenance.
