Great Kiwi Bach
We always felt that Mokino had a charm and a warm friendly family feel about it, comfortable, and a very Kiwi atmosphere about it. But you can’t always rely on nature to provide a clear evening to view Mt Taranaki or perfect weather to stay on the beach for hours but that is part of the pleasure of staying at Mokino. We will always want to return.

This was ideal for our family stay. We had lovely weather so the outside access to downstairs was no problem The only thing I can suggest is that there is some information regarding laundry……. Is there somewhere to do it locally? We managed fine but it is a consideration with young children. Thanks for the stay it was as great

Would not stay again
The communication from the owner is 5 star. The location is 5 star. The property itself was disappointing. I did not realise the downstairs bedrooms are only accessible externally to the house. 2 of my kids slept downstairs and were quite nervous to be down there, away from us. Cleanliness is questionable. I had to wash everything before cooking/eating. The downstairs toilet was filthy. A cleaning fee is ridiculous given the state of the property. There was a damp and musty smell which was attempted to be disguised by reed diffusers which were awful - we had to move them outside for the night. I paid extra for linen. We were given a towel each (awful towels - clean and soft but did not dry well). We had 2 single fitted sheets with 2 duvet covers and 2 pillowcases. No topsheets. Upstairs we were given 2 fitted sheets for a double and queen. No top sheet, no duvet covers and no pillowcases. We used a towel over one pillow and I managed to find 2 pillow protectors to use on the master bed. We had no choice but to use the duvets on the two upstairs beds. Unsure whether they were clean but it left me feeling yuck. I felt the need to shower and scrub myself in the morning. The photos in the listing make the property look modern and reasonably new. I think the photos are a creative use of reality. At the price paid for one night, I expected better and our experience with less expensive properties has been 100 times better. I hate leaving a negative review.

We have used this accommodation on various occasions and it has always been fantastic as per description in the reviews. Although ours has been for work purposes - what better way to come "home" after a days work that to accommodation this close to the beach.

The Mokino batch was perfect for our family. Beautiful views, lovely and clean very family friendly. Also loved that its pet friendly so the grandkids could bring their puppy. Short drive to beach to get the quads off and a cool track from the batch to the sea. Would definatly stay here again.

Unfortunately we had terrible weather during our stay which meant we couldn't air out the property, it was extremely damp. The cleanliness of the property was also questionable. However, great views and space if you do get blessed with nice weather.

A wonderful stay
A comfortable traditional bach with breathtaking views and a beautiful beach with easy access. We had a wonderful time. We were able to stay an extra night and the communication involved was easy and warm.

What is not to love about this place. From the ease of communication with the owner Richard to the lovely property manager Jenny to Amazing views, proximity to the beach, property clean & tidy & homely.....to more than reasonable pricing......what's left to say.... Absolutely epic
This is an awesome kiwi bach! Loved the open plan kitchen/dining/lounge was heaps of space! Absolutely epic views from the beautiful big windows and awesome outside deck! Small (steep) stroll to the beach which is so peaceful and a lovely spot to swim. Couldn’t rate this place any higher I will definitely be going back with my kid for a family weekend away! Richard was so easy to communicate with and fixed up one problem we had straight away. Thanks so much for sharing your epic bach with us!

The views were second to none, BBQ was handy, host/owner was very friendly and accommodating. Bach had a basic clean (toilet, shower, surfaces) but needs a really good deep clean.

Thanks for staying at Mokino - we are sorry cleaning was not up to standard. Our manager has struggled to maintain the usual, due to her partners ongoing health problems. We now have a new manager that will ensure the standard is back !

The home was absolutely wonderful. It was clean, warm and very spacious. The owner was a pleasure to deal with. The view of harbor is amazing.. Loved it and will definitely keep this booking in my diary for our next trip down to Mokau.

Loved the location and incredible views. Lots of space and a great kitchen. Unfortunately we had lots of trouble with breakers and power shutting off. we only ended up with partial power for our two night stay. If this can be sorted it would be 5 star all the way!

Great winter getaway
Really neat bach. Warm cozy getaway for winter. Only criticism is that upstairs and down stairs had no internal stairs and this is not clear in the description. Made it tricky with kids and wintery weather.

Love this coast!
Great stay in an area close to our hearts. We have family in Tongaporutu so this bach was perfect as not too far down the road! Loved the character and family history of Mokino, and that view! Wow! Even after lots of wild weather recently, we easily managed the track down to the beach. Appreciate the work locals must do here to maintain it. Bring your own duvets for downstairs (in winter) and if the lights aren’t going, check the circuit board outside by the garage. We had no upstairs lights on arrival but found a circuit had tripped. Pity we couldn’t stay longer. Must be awesome in summer. (Great dinner too at the Awakino pub on Friday night! Cheers)

We have a big blended family so this place with all it's beds & bedrooms is a great size for our family get away. Add in the access to the beach & the beautiful views & it's a great place to visit. I highly recommend this bach🙂👍

Excellent kiwi bach with a view
8 of us (adults) had a great time. Perfect location for fishing, swimming and gins on the deck! Its a standard kiwi bach (not a 5 star hotel), but was exactly what we thought we were getting. Great value for money.
