We arrived at Rio Hermoso and were shown directly to our room (with no check in or introduction to the resort), which was rather strange (unhelped by our very limited Spanish, which made it difficult to communicate with the lady who showed us to our room).
We were asked if we wanted to eat (it was around 3pm when we checked in) and when we said yes, the lady disappeared and we wandered around the otherwise empty lounge and dining room for a while not really sure of what was going on.
At one point, a large group (approx 6-8 adults and what felt like 8-10 children under 5 years old turned up and played on the front lawn in the snow (which was adjacent to our bedroom) and generally idled about). They did not appear to be staying guests, so we were confused as to their presence and rather irritated with the racket the children were making - it certainly ruined the otherwise peaceful and relaxing ambiance of the resort.
Despite the strange start, we are happy to report that we ended up with a really terrific meal, lovely wine and super friendly staff who did all they could to help. Breakfasts were great every day and we were given a corner room, which was spacious and comfortable.
